I would consider this place a curious joint to eat. It seems loved and admired by many regulars customers. However, every Time I go here they completely underperform. From the outside appearance of the property down to the food, it has not been very good. And I truly wish I could say I love it, but I just don't. Thin crust pizza-ok. Service-ok Attentiveness of staff-ok Landscaping and building is run down Food prep and area to pay bill is messy. Dining area smells damp and musty on a Friday night... After four tries, I can not figure out why this place is still open. If the pizza tasted and looked amazing I could see things different. But in my opinion, it is not. Never been here before but came here for a party. The place was packed! I didn't order any of the pizza we had but liked everything I tried. Unique pizza. Very thin crust almost cracker thin. I like this because you don't get filled on bread. I tried Pizza Primavera which has spinach, zucchini, black olives, feta cheese, green onions, and pea pods. I tried one piece because it looked interesting. I quickly grabbed another piece because it was so--good! Atmosphere here is comfortable and relaxing. We have lived here for four years, and this was the first pizza place that reminded me of the best thin crusts that Chicago has to offer. This truly is the best pizza in Michigan. Decided to finally give this place another try after being turned off by the political signs out front of the business a few years ago. Pizza was ok. Greasy, thin crust, but not bad. Service and presentation SUCKS. Tiny paper plates, Had to ask for a fork, and much of the staff was on their phones the whole time. Could hear the bartender who I believe was the owner discussing the latest Sean Hannity talking points while we ate our food. The guy who checked us out was dismissive, and the icing on the turd was the camo "Trump 2020" hat prominently displayed on the counter. It was pretty slow for a Saturday night, and I'm not surprised. I'll never be back. What a foolish business decision to alienate 60 to 70 percent of your potential clientele. Sad. read more

We had a party of 8 and only one of their tiny limited menus. Slow service and a rude owner. When I gave my feedback to the owner as we were leaving he put his hand on my shoulder and told us never to come back again. This is two families he's booting out the door because we were surprised about the charge for refills on soda. Which the waitress refilled with out asking. The pizza was extremely greasy and for limited toppings why not use fresh mushrooms rather than the canned. My heart sank when the owner came to our table and I realized I had seen him on the news being very political. The windows were cloudy and we each had one dessert size flimsy paper plate. I'm going to give a simple review for a simple product. I worked at the N. Park location for over 3 years back around 1999 and had this pizza everyday (ahh, the joys of a teenage metabolism) and never once got sick of it. It's that good. It's true, Fricanos only offers thin-crust, 5 toppings and one size but I'm telling you, it works. Lastly, I got to know the owner, Doug, when I worked there and I can honestly say that it is extremely rare that you find a business owner who has as much pride invested in keeping the product sacred, as he does. This business and the people behind it are authentic Grand Rapids. Something we don't see a whole lot of anymore. Treat yourself to a classic! read more

Usually one of favorites pizza spots when we are back home for a weekend. The only pizza is thin crust pizza, cracker thin. They don't have many of the various topping offerings of a traditional pizza place, so you are somewhat limited on what you can do to your pie. Also being thin crust, each pizza is basically a personal pizza so your bill get pretty large pretty quick. We tried one of the specials on our last visit. It was some sort of Hawaiian (without ham though, again limited options). It wasn't bad, but it maybe had one small piece of pineapple on each slice. Pretty lackluster. I am sure we will visit again when we are in town, but out last visit definitely wasn't the Fricano's experience of our past. read more

I had to laugh at the little glass that my wine came in but other than that I so much more enjoyed this location other than the one in Holland Michigan. This place is light and airy and lots of room and they even have other items on the menu besides pizza can you believe it? This place is awesome! If there's a better thin-crust pizza elsewhere in the world, I'd love to know. It certainly doesn't exist in Phoenix. Anyway, if you've never been here, stop what you're doing! And go RIGHT NOW! My father's from GH and grew up on Fricano's pizza in the 50's. He always says that way back then, people didn't even know what 'pizza' was! I've eaten about 100 pies going back to 1985 or so when we visited relatives near the beach. I think the Fricano family came to GR in the past decade. I've only been to this location 5-6 times. But it looks like a nice place, has friendly staff and holds an assortment of menu options (if you choose to dine in). Check out the Fricanos in Kalamazoo if you're out that way. I have to say - the food is great. But if your looking for customer service, then go elsewhere.... I ordered pizza online (even got email confirmation) to be picked up at 5pm, husband stopped on his way home to pick up. Was told there was no order. He gave them the order number, and was told that number meant nothing. So he left - no pizza. I called them and was told the order went to email (so they got it). The manager told me he doesn't understand why people just don't pick up the phone and order (excuse me??). I was told basically sorry bout your bad luck. No once did they try to make it right. He didn't even offer to make the pizza right away. read more

State law requires staff to wear face masks. Owner/manager had his mask on chin the entire time I was there. Mouth/nose completely exposed. Talking loud to customers face to face. Some kitchen staff also had noses out. I'm a regular customer but they need to be reported to health department. read more

I went to the Comstock location last night with friends. I'm from Chicago and only do deep dish once or twice a year. Fricano's has an awesome thin and crispy pizza. I was 2 slices short of knocking off my own pie. Great crust, sauce and they have a very tasty blend of cheeses. This is a wonderful family owned Ma and Pa pizza joint not a national chain. Owner Doug is a classically warm and welcome guy. Our server was fantastic! Friendly and full of life. Go there and have a great pizza at very reasonable prices. read more

Highly overrated. It's soaked in grease, and the crust is so thin that the Exxon oil spill on the surface takes center stage. If you're looking for an oil-covered cardboard disc and an evening of heartburn, this is your place. If not, there are much better options in Comstock Park. My husband and I enjoyed our very first date at the GH location 17 years ago and we're so happy Doug opened the one on Alpine so we can now enjoy Fricano's Pizza with a much shorter drive. Love the thin, crispy crust! It's a family owned, traditional restaurant. There's not a lot of menu choices, but I only go there for the pizza anyway. Hands down BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA in Grand Rapids. Make sure you order a WHOLE PIZZA for yourself as it is a true thin crust which means that you don't get a carb overload like most pizzas. Ratios of cheese and sauce to crust is on point. I recommend ordering it well done so the crust is crisper, otherwise you will be folding your pizza over so you can eat it. However, if you are picky on toppings and only order meat you will see a lot of grease on the top of your pizza. Staff is always polite, but it does take awhile for your pizzas to be ready for pick up. read more

The price you pay for the size and quality is too high. You'd be better off going to a cheaper chain. Also the establishment was in need of a deep clean. The pizza had thin crust, which I like. However, it was greasy and charred. The choices for pizzas weren't appealing to me. The mushrooms were canned and the cheese wasn't mozzarella. Now that I know what a Trump supporter the owner is, it gives me another reason to never go there again. read more

Our first visit didn't do much for us... We stood at the front door for a solid 10 minutes before someone walked by and told us we could sit at "any table in that row". We sat at our table for 10-15 minutes before someone came and asked us "what we wanted". After waiting 40 minutes for 2 small pizzas, our tiny drinks with no free refills were gone and our server never checked on us. The famous pizza.....was not that amazing. So after growing up in Grand Haven and having Fricano's weekly for 20 years I started having withdrawals here in Seattle. Not a problem, Doug made me a dozen pizzas, packed them and sent them off to me here in Seattle. Now I am just saying not since a chief of mine brought me back a fricanos wrapper in the Persian Gulf have I been so happy and homesick at the same time. Can you say CULT? Those of us that grew up on this stuff need a fix on a regular basis. These folks started in Grand Haven at the end of WW2 and the family has carried on the tradition. Nobody else here does a pie in this style, love it or hate it. SUPER THIN (you could read a book through it). Available only in 12" with limited items. They used to do only a take-out on North Park then moved to the old "Fable's" at Alpine & 6 Mile. Nice decor yet still very casual. read more

I am a bit of a pizza snob, and I can say that the Roasted garlic, the original, and the Primavera are all winners. paper-thin crust, fresh ingredients, good sauce (albeit light), and that what it takes to make a good pie. It is not the best I have ever had (Di Fara, Grimaldi, Arturo's, Coal Fire, etc) but it is the best in the area. I'll be back :) read more

What you need to know before you go: 1. The pizza is very good, but it's expensive. Know that first.. About $10+ for a personal pizza. 2. They do not refill soda and it's a small glass to begin with. Now, we were there tonight and our waitress was horrible.. horrible.. Frankly, she is the reason for my post here... She was short with us, never stuck around long enough to take everyone's drink order at our table (4 people)... We had to catch her on the the next time she visited the table. She was rude.. not sure if she was having a bad night or she is always a pain in the a*s. She never asked how the bill was to be split between 2 couples, but she handed it to us before we even had a chance to tell her (Remember what I said about her being short with us...). We are nice people, we were very nice to her. We couldn't get a word in with her. For example; when she handed me the bill, I tried to get her attention before she walked away and she kept walking. I KNOW she heard me, she acted as if she didn't hear me, but I saw her mannerism and I know she heard us.. She kept walking anyway... I assure you, we did nothing to warrant being treated like that. We smile, we say please and thank you. Respect... What was funny, when we paid, the main man behind the counter was really cool! We bantered and thanked each other, had a laugh. It was at that point that piece-of-work waitress put on a smile and said "Thank You!" She giving us the ol' "thank you before you tip' gig and acting like she gave two shits in front of her boss. In any case, we wont be back because I never want to deal with her again. I hope the boss reads this because he should evaluate who he has working there.. Fricano's has a cult like following apparently.. perhaps you need to be in the cult to get treated well by the wait staff.. I probably should have said something to the main-man or even to her, but I didn't feel like going there at the moment... hate to be passive aggressive here, but it's what you get when you pay hard earned money and get an experience like we had. read more

One of the best chains around to get thin crust. It fills that void in my heart when the need for a beautifully crafted pie of the 'za rolled out thin and crispy in calling. I love their sauce and their homemade sausage is top notch. Ain't nothing better then ordering your own pizza and polishing off the whole thing. Some speak of legends where great heroes where able to knock out two pizzas... someday I wish to be a part of those stories. BAD FOOD, SERVICE AND ENVIRONMENT. Someone must be getting paid to enter false positive reviews. Served with small cheap paper plates, sub par service/under staffed, as well as pretty awful pizza. No bread sticks or cheese bread offered but basically frozen loaf of garlic bread with melted shredded cheese on it and nasty marinara if that's what is was. Super thin crust drowning in cheese. Crust so thin they use scissors to cut the pizza slices. Dont even have white milk so not a family friendly restraurant. Wouldn't recommend at all!! I've been here a dozen or so times with friends and I used to live by the take out north park ave location years ago. The pizza has always been hit or miss in my opinion. They offer a true thin crust pizza when made with the appropriate amount of cheese, toppings, and isn't over cooked is good. The staff our friendly and restaurant is clean just really dated. The thin pizza isn't very filling so I would suggest 1 pizza per adult as an average order. read more

I grew up eating this pizza, and just recently re-discovered it. One size, and six toppings to choose from. Its not perfect for everyone, but when you want a greasy pizza fast, this is the place to go. I tried to go their for lunch, and It was closed for some reason. It needs to be open earlier. read more

This was the first time for our family. We waited for 10 mins, then we got to our table which was in the corner! Drinks and the pizza was very expensive! A small pizza with thin crust should only cost 3.00! I can get a large pizza for 6.35 that tastes way better then this! Please don't wast your time! Oh and the crazy bread was 50 cents each!
