I went to the Comstock location last night with friends. I'm from Chicago and only do deep dish once or twice a year. Fricano's has an awesome thin and crispy pizza. I was 2 slices short of knocking off my own pie. Great crust, sauce and they have a very tasty blend of cheeses. This is a wonderful family owned Ma and Pa pizza joint not a national chain. Owner Doug is a classically warm and welcome guy. Our server was fantastic! Friendly and full of life. Go there and have a great pizza at very reasonable prices. read more

Yummy! The pizza was super thin so each person typically orders their own, and it was so delicious. Our waitress wasn't very friendly though and didn't aid to us properly. We went on Thursday were they have a live band, nothing to special. Would definitely return. read more

I used to get takeout from the North Park location that is closed now, but I'd never been to this one until recently. I was pretty impressed with the food; we tried a lot of different stuff and I enjoyed everything. The service was also quite good, and our waitress was chatty and charming. The only thing that detracted from our enjoyment was the bunch of drunks seated nearby. Hopefully that was just our bad luck, and not the usual. read more

By far the best pizza in a 45 minute radius of Grand Rapids. Thin crust with a Parmesan crust. No special ordering, you get what is on the menu. I recommend the sausage pizza. The hours are strange but worth figuring out. A must stop anytime I am near Alpine. read more

I cannot stress enough how disappointed I was after eating at this establishment. I wasn't expecting much after seeing the restaurant seems to be located in an old house. There were flies everywhere but that wasn't a huge issue. These pizzas were so small and I didn't know it was possible to screw up a pizza crust so badly. This restaurant is an abomination to pizzas everywhere and to only serve pizza on the menu is so blasphemous considering the quality of it. Delightfully thin, madly delicious pizza! Basic cheese is delicious, with just the right amount of spice. The service is pleasant. The venue works for what it is. (Nothing fancy here, folks.) The oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are dandy. If Fricano's had a better beer list (how about some local craft brews on the menu, please?), I'd give it that fifth star! read more

I really like this place. Pizza any size you want as long as it is 12". The only place in town that I can get anchovies on the side. Kind of old school, wine in a juice glass. If you don't like ultra thin crust pizza go some place else. If you wand a lot of fu-fu stuff go some place else. The people who own this place and the staff are wonderful people, friendly, and accommodating to children. They are proud of their restaurant, :) everyone treated us so nice (2 adults, 4 kids). They give the kids a big pack of crayons and s bunch of round papers to keep them busy. Love this. Now everyone at my table loved the pizza. I did not. Ideally thin crust is great, but this pizza is thin and just horribly greasy to the point that it just makes more sense to roll your pizza up and eat it. Not fun. While the sauce flavor is great, the cheese and meats create entirely too much grease for this thin little pie. It's good, but I didn't love it. Great people though! read more

My husband and I enjoyed our very first date at the GH location 17 years ago and we're so happy Doug opened the one on Alpine so we can now enjoy Fricano's Pizza with a much shorter drive. Love the thin, crispy crust! It's a family owned, traditional restaurant. There's not a lot of menu choices, but I only go there for the pizza anyway. The EBA (everything but anchovies) pizza IS as good as it looks and gets! It was a great pleasure to meet and talk with Doug (the owner). When he learned this was my first time enjoying a Fricano's pizza, I shared a handshake and a "Welcome to the Fricano's Family!" with him. I believe that. As we chatted, I can tell he and his family's history/passion is serving the best ultra/thin crust pizza in W MI. Doug and his team in the Alpine store (I have not been to other locations) do that and connect on a friendly, personal level as well. And we did have a discussion about onions on pizza. I get it now. Have always loved Fricano's pizza, no matter the location. Brought a friend to Fricano's and then he tells me he doesn't really like pizza. We were w/ a small group, everyone ordering one pizza for themselves. My friend reluctantly ordered a pizza and then was the first one done, and ordered a second. Fricano's has quite the following and if you go on a weekend, expect it to be busy. Many times I've waited in line to get in at the one in Grand Haven. read more

Has to be the worst pizza experience around. I believe they must go out of their way to make the customer's dining experience miserable. The staff wavered between indifferent and rude, the pizza was cold, greasy, and in every way bad. While we were there, a server got into a yelling match with a customer, and yelled at each other about who was right. Unbelievable that a business is run this way. read more

I would not recommend! The pizza we ordered had a burnt crust! The ingredients were very skimpy. Staff didn't seem to care. They didn't offer to remake the pizza and didn't offer a refund. This location was poorly run. My pizza was burned and didn't taste all that great. I used to really like fricanos but have had really bad experiences at this location. Just an inconsistent product and service, which isn't acceptable when you're paying relatively high prices for small, thin pizzas. There are places in GR that do thin crust much better, have much better topping options, and will actually let you customize your toppings. Visiting this place is like going to a restaurant that is long past its prime, hasn't been updated in decades, and generally failed to evolve and innovate to improve its product, while other pizza places in the area have rolled out far superior products. I have tried Fricanos twice now. Both times the pizza was greasy with low quality cheese that was layered too thick. The crust was spongy and wet. Also the place needs a deep cleaning.Francos on Alpine is much better. read more

I have had the distinct pleasure of enjoying Fricano's Pizza for over 30 years. My wife's family took me to Grand Haven in the early 80's and have been hooked ever since. The Alpine location is convenient and serves the identical piping hot, crispy, tangy pizza as they have done for decades. I live in Chicago and consider myself an expert on thick and thin crust pizza and have to tell you, Fricano's is in my top two. It's a great value and the staff are wonderful people to dine with and provide great service. Highly recommend. read more

Fricano's on Alpine, is the best pizza there is. Fantastic thin crust but not the cracker type where it can cut your mouth. The great kind, where one fold it like the old NY pizza slices. Doug, unlike the other Fricano's in West Michigan, has not changed the recipe, it's exactly like the recipe Gus Fricano had in 50's-80's in Grand Haven. Doug, again, hasn't cut down on the garlic or spices like the others have. Since I have to drive 40 miles round trip, I get 4 or 5 light baked to take home to freeze and 1 ready to have when I get home. Doug, YOU are the BEST! read more

If Fricano's Pizza was a TV show, you'd call it a "cult favorite". Best pizza in the world - very very thin crust - kinda greasy but I always press a napkin down on top of the cheese & toppings before eating, to soak up the extra grease. The customer service sometimes is a little rough around the edges, but the famous pizza taste absolutely cannot be beat! It pains me to write write this review. but I hope that Doug reads it. For years I have been purchasing Fricanos pizza an I absolutely loved it. I grew up here in Grand Rapids and my parents would actually drive to Grand Haven to purchase half-baked Fricanos pizza and bring it home to finish it off. however for the past 2 years I have ordered pizza from Fricanos 3 times. The problem is that they have change thier pepperoni. In the past their pepperoni was these very small but very thick peperoni slices. For the past couple of years they have changed them and it detracts from the experience of what fricanos is supposed to be; Unique. Now I can hardly bring myself to even order a take out. They still have the crust and sausage to save them from angry masses, but for me the magic is gone and also my business. though I will return maybe once a year. maybe I will visit grand haven again and see if they still offer the quality ingredients they used to in the past.. dunno. 2 stars today for the Alpine location. read more
