Fish Tacos 3
Kiana G.

A quick little bite to eat that turned to be a pleasant surprise. I heard a few things about things spot so I got here early to ensure I would have a comfortable time and seat. Service was okay. There were only 2 servers however it took a significant amount of time to get her attention when we needed (order more drinks etc). Order to table timing was pretty good but i had to wait several minutes at a time before my self or table could order additional drinks, food, etc. I love that they have SOOO MANY options to pick. From tacos to drinks I was impressed. I ordered the fish tacos which came out fried. I wasn't mad at that but the fish wasn't all that flavorful. It tasted pretty bland almost like a piece of frozen fish. My friend let me try her shrimp tacos which came and MAN I wish i would have ordered that instead because that shrimp was not only fresh and DELICIOUS. I was so tempted to return my plate back that's how good that shrimp was. My biggest recommendation would be to get here a bit early or call to reserve as they packed pretty quickly. Other than that would definitely put this on my local go to list.

Frida's is undeniably cute. The ambiance is there, the aesthetic is there, and I'll give credit where credit is due...THE DRINKS were the best part of the entire experience. The sangria? Una vaina bien hecha. Whoever was behind that bar knew exactly what they were doing because every drink was beautiful, well-made, and honestly the only reason I'd even consider coming back. Unfortunately, the service and food experience were a completely different story. Right off the bat, all three of our water glasses came out dirty and had to be replaced that's not exactly a great start. Now, I do want to acknowledge that our waiter was on his first day because I understand everyone has to start somewhere. Pero una cosa es estar aprendiendo y otra cosa es andar totalmente perdido y sin hacerse cargo. There were multiple mistakes throughout the night, and what made it worse wasn't just the mistakes themselves it was the lack of urgency, accountability, or genuine sympathy when those mistakes affected our table. Another server honestly seemed to be stepping in and apologizing more than he was, and I want to give her credit because she was clearly trying to manage both her own tables and his. I know what that kind of pressure feels like, and she was the only person who showed any real sympathy. Where things really went left was with the food. One of my friends ordered a taco plate that was supposed to come with three tacos, rice, and beans. They first brought her only two tacos and just... left it at that. We literally had to tell them her meal was incomplete before they brought out the rest. At that point, I asked where my food was. That's when we found out my order had never even been put in at all. So let me paint the picture: I ordered my food, sat there watching plates come out in pieces, watched them fix someone else's incomplete order, and only after all of that did anyone realize that my food had been forgotten entirely. O sea... el relajo era completo. By then, I was over it. I wasn't even hungry anymore, so I canceled my tacos and asked for another sangria instead. Then came the bill... and somehow it got worse. Even after my meal was never made or brought out, my tacos were still on the check. Nobody proactively fixed it. Nobody caught it. We had to point it out ourselves. And then? Automatic 18% gratuity, an extra charge for paying with a card, and absolutely no effort to recover what had already been a terrible guest experience. When we questioned it, we were told a manager might need to get involved. So we waited and waited. No manager ever came to the table. We literally had to flag someone down ourselves and surprise, that person ended up being the manager. And somehow...that conversation was just as disappointing. The tacos were removed (which, let's be clear, should have never been on the bill in the first place because they were never made) and they removed the sangria...by literally taking the drink back. No comp for the dirty glasses. No gesture for the forgotten entrée. No acknowledgment of the excessive delays. No meaningful apology. No guest recovery. Nada. As someone who has worked in the service industry and managed serving staff, I understand mistakes happen especially on busy nights. Pero esto no fue un chin de desorden...esto fue un tollo completo. What bothered me most is that management treated this like a simple billing correction instead of what it actually was...a failed guest experience. Fixing a check is the bare minimum. Real leadership takes accountability, moves with urgency, and makes guests feel like their time mattered. None of that happened here. Because at a certain point, service mistakes stop being a server issue and start becoming a management issue. When things go wrong this many times and no one steps in proactively, no one meaningfully apologizes, and the resolution is just to do the bare minimum... eso no e' un error, eso e' una cultura. And that says more than they probably realize. As for the food? It was fine. The empanadas were good. The tacos, however, were underwhelming and far from authentic. The birria-style tacos especially felt like a watered-down interpretation, more like regular tacos with meat and sauce than actual birria. If you're used to authentic Mexican food, no te me ilusiones mucho, because this probably won't hit the way you expect. Overall? Cute vibe, amazing drinks, great aesthetic... but mediocre food and genuinely disappointing service. Would I come back? For drinks? Claro, porque el bartender resolvió. For dinner? Ni loca.

My friend and I planned a Mother's Day outing to Frida's! Because it was so last minute we ended up doing two reservations, but they were so accommodating and we're able to sit all 10 of us together. After sitting down, it didn't take too long for the waiter to come around for us to place our orders. I frequent this place because it's in my neighborhood so I was very excited to come back yet again. I got my favorite margarita, which was great per usual. I also got three tacos; chicken, fish, and shrimp! Everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken wasn't dry. The fish was well seasoned and not overly fried. The shrimp wasn't overcooked either. They all had different toppings and came with radish and limes on the side. The fish and chicken were my favorite, but honestly, I've never had a bad taco from this place. The place wasn't too packed. The music was also at a great volume and it honestly was the perfect place for a Mother's Day outing and if you're ever in area, make sure you check them out.

The food and drinks are great I'll say that! However service is abit slow, the drinks take quite some time and on a Saturday night the food arrived well before the drinks. The ambiance is nice and the music and decor are pleasant! Great place for the location and reasonable prices.

From the walk up the place is dry chic, I loved the Frida art spread around. The owner created us with a pinch of history and the inspiration to the Domican-Mexican fusion theme. The food was great! I found a new place to frequent when in Mill Basin

After a long day being at the car dealership for 8.5hrs, I decided to try FRIDA after discovering the restaurant through the YELP app. Walked into Happy Hour (not properly attired for the evening affair ) my daughter and I sat down for our first meal of the day. We ordered Birria Empanadas, Bolos de Yuca, Birria, Al Pastor & fish tacos. The entrees were the tacos and it comes with a side of black beans & rice. EVERYTHING WAS TASTY & SO GOOOOODDDD! My daughter really enjoyed the Birria meat and consommé... it was the best consommé we've had. Everything tasted fresh. The service was great. The restaurant is decorated quite lovely and has a vibe to it (as per my daughter's words). We really loved everything about it. We will definitely go back to try more dishes on the menu. FYI: gratuity is included on the bill so budget for the 18% they charge

Decided to randomly try this restaurant and it was such a great decision! The restaurant was packed. There is indoor and an enclosed outdoor area for seating. I got a seat at the bar. The bar area is small and has seating for about 4-5 people. It was nice to see how all the drinks were created while sitting there. There is a QR code for the menu. There are also hard copies of the menu. It took a while for me to place my order because the bartenders were really busy making drinks. I ordered the coco loco. The presentation was beautiful and the drink was delicious. Hands down the best drink I have had this year. I would come back for this alone. I ordered three tacos. I got the shrimp taco which I really enjoyed. I got the fish taco which was really good. I also ordered the birria taco. It comes with a consommé. The bartender suggested adding cheese to the taco which I did. However, I couldn't really taste the cheese. The rice and beans were good but it would be easier to eat if it came in a bigger container. I also was expecting more rice and beans. The hot sauce was amazing. For dessert I got the churros. I didn't care for the caramel sauce. I really liked the chocolate sauce. This dessert is big enough to share with others. I really enjoyed the churros and would highly recommend it. The staff were pleasant. I look forward to returning again and trying more dishes and drinks.

First Sunday Brunch of the year! Frida is in my neighborhood and is an added emphasis to a boring food area. Only hiccups is the parking on a Sunday was tough because it is a residential area. The restaurant is cute but tight. We made reservations which I am glad we did because it was packed. Towards the end of Brunch the restaurant emptied a bit. It isnt a big restaurant so be prepared to have someine close to you. Service wasnt the best. Our waiter just wasnt as attentive. The food was good though. I had flight of tacos (shrimp, al pastor, birria) it was all tasty. The guac and chips were tasty too. They have happy hour on Sundays and that was clutch. I would definitely be back.

I visited this restaurant for the first time last weekend and I must say that I had a good time. We arrived for our 5pm reservation and the restaurant wasn't packed for a Saturday afternoon. It is small inside but I can see that they are very popular. A lot people came in to place to go orders. I started off with a passion fruit margarita which was strong but tasty. For my appetizer I had the nachos with chicken. The chicken could've been a little more seasoned. My sister ordered the Tostoncitos with Birria and they were delicious. For my entree I had the Birria Mofongo which was very good. The beef was well prepared and seasoned to perfection. The servers were very good and provided excellent customer service. I would definitely come back to try other options on the menu. My sister and brother enjoyed their entrees as well.

Amazing experience. Came for a solo date on Valentine's Day and it was definitely worth while. I was sat at the bar since it was just a party of one and I didn't mind it. Marcelo ( one of the owners) was so kind in approach and a very talented bartender. Him and Nemo (another talented bartender) worked so well together and really handcrafted each drink with love as I was there to watch with my own eyes since it's such an intimate space. I ordered the French kiss ( a Valentine's Day special but i requested for it to be on the main menu since it was so delicious ) and the Bougie G! I had the Birria Empanada and enjoyed it so much that I ordered two plus the hot peppers. Overall great experience loved the whole staff. Major shoutout to Chris and the young lady hostess tonight.

Went to check this spot out with my girlfriend after seeing it on IG and the aesthetics are so freaking adorable!!! From the beautiful entrance to all of the cute decor indoor! Perfect photo ops!!! Such a cool Dominican/Mexican fusion!!! The hostess was welcoming and the wait staff so attentive!!! They would check on us and see how we were doing. We came for brunch on a Saturday and the music was everything! They were playing típico, felt like I was in the campo in DR. We had for appetizers: the salami, queso frito and tostones with our lychee margaritas; for the meal we had coconut margaritas and I had the Tres Golpes, my friend had the shrimp and fish tacos and she said they were delicious. Our meal and drinks were awesome and highly recommend this spot to everyone to try it out! Make your reservations!!!

It was still fairly busy inside, but it was mostly people grabbing to-go orders. After ordering I snagged a spot at the counter. There's extremely limited seating, so I wouldn't bank on eating at the restaurant when it's busy. Be prepared to take your food to go. I got the Nene's Deluxe, which comes with a taco, a mulita, and an empanada - all with Birria of course. It was all delicious. The mulita was at the bottom of the box and got completely soaked with Birria. It was extremely messy to eat. Get plenty of napkins. I also got a side of fries and nacho cheese, because it was a long week and I deserved it. They had a seasonal strawberry horchata as well. This was okay. I also think I might just not love horchata in general. This meal definitely hit the spot. The Birria and consommé were top notch. I would return in a heartbeat.

I tried something different than my usual and went with the Adobada Tacos (Pork Al Pastor). The meat itself was spicy and a little rough, which leads me to believe it was maybe old meat. Instead of cubed, the pineapple was shredded which offered a nice touch. Unfortunately the actual taco got soggy by the time I ate it so I just picked out the meats and pineapple. There is plenty of avocado green sauce placed on top, which moving forward, I will request to be on the side to prevent the taco from getting soggy. Overall I probably should just stick to what I know/like so I'm willing to give this location another shot!

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.
