    Herring Pizza
    Cassie C.

A HAITIAN PIZZA BAR OF SORTS One of my co-workers suggested that we meet her after work because: (1) It's walking distance from work...The equivalent of taking the long way home. (2) We both needed a drink after an eventful, extra long work shift. We got the rum punch which was good but too strong for a Tuesday. (3) I had a craving for Haitian-style herring so we shared a herring pizza. Please note I approached this slice with the most apprehension that I ever had in life and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Their pizza crust has an interesting crunch and flakiness to it that definitely giving homemade with a unique flair. The sauce was holding on to the generous amount of mozzarella while the herring and peppers were the shining star toppings. I enjoyed it so much that I would definitely order it again. If you are looking for a chill bar atmosphere with reimagined Haitian food classics to nosh on then come on in. Thursdays might not be so chill because it's Dance Thursdays and a DJ will be spinning Konpa chunes. It's work a try.

market bar is a hidden gem. the deals are really incredible and all the food is pretty delish. i tried the garden salad side with chicken and honestly, it was the most perfect salad. the shaved parm was perfect and the grilled chicken had great flavor and overall it was just such a simple and welcoming salad. i would totally recommend checking this place out honestly it's such a great local spot.

Jerk Chicken pizza. The second half was burnt.

The service here was 5 star, unfortunately, that was the best thing about this place. The jerk chicken pizza looked so pretty and the first slice tasted delicious. It all went downhill after that. Somehow the second half of the pie was burnt. So disappointing. The happy hour margaritas were basic at best. They came out the frozen machine but they were liquid. The mix tasted bad but they used a good enough tequila so no headaches. The decor is average nothing to compliment or complain about. It's not Instagram/Tik Tok worthy if that is important to you. They have a lot of sitting so that's great. The bathroom is clean. I am going to give them another chance but I was disappointed.

    Spicy Chicken Sandwich

I wanted to love this place, but it kinda fell flat for me. The aesthetic is a mix of like rustic, Mediterranean, board game cafe, local bar all wrapped in one, which I found confusing. Brewery in the name also doesn't make much sense to me since I didn't find beer to be a central part of their offering, but I'm personally not too particular on that front. The layout has a high table In the middle with board games, a bar on the right, then low seats on the wall to the left with pillows. The service was okay, but a bit awkward when we first walked in (this was a Sunday afternoon for reference). We weren't sure if you just sit down or wait to be seated. Our waitress was nice enough though. We ordered the wings and spicy chicken sandwich. I didn't like the spicy chicken sandwich, mainly because I didn't realize it was buffalo, which I'm not a fan of. That was my fault for not reading the menu correctly, but tbh overall I do think I could have had better at a fast food chain. My friend did like her chicken wings though, which the waitress had said was a popular choice. Based on reviews & the waitress's suggestion, it seems like the pizza might be what they're known for so that might have been a better option. Glad I tried it, but not sure if I'll be back--maybe if I wanted a drink, they seem like a nice casual spot for that.

I loved everything here, but I wanted more from the griot pizza. They put an ample amount of meat but it shouldve have less cheese. It overpowered the griot flavor. Their BBQ wings are good they actually have some heat to it so be aware. I enjoyed their frozen cocktails which were the frozen rum punch and the frozen margarita which I asked to be mixed. So refreshing and strong. They have board games here and sometimes they have a DJ. During happy hour wings are $1 and specials on beers and pizza. The service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly.

It was a late night after a meeting in the middle of the week (Wednesday) and I needed to eat something warm fast. I knew about market bar through Instagram and friends so I decided to roll through. Luckily for me even after 10 pm, their kitchen was still open as opposed to only serving drinks. The people were generally nice when I asked about the menu and the options. It was a relatively quiet night with people hanging around the bar. People were watching various games on the flat screen TVs behind the bar. Because i had chicken earlier that day, i decided to get their pizza for a change. Wanting to try something different, I asked for their jerk chicken pizza. It was a bit of a wait but at least they were making my pizza fresh. In my opinion, the chicken was more on the sweeter side of jerk but it was a good flavor combo with the onion, peppers and tomato. I had asked for the smallest pizza possible (10 Inch) since I wasn't that hungry. I still had leftovers and I was able to get a pizza box to carry it home. I also had a Moscow mule and while it wasn't my favorite version of that drink, it was pretty decent. Overall, I'm willing to comeback again to see how it is during their happy hour and when it is more packed and lively. There is indoor and outdoor seating which is great for the summertime.

I loved the drinks and our bartender did her thing! It's Black owned and running well so why not visit this place. Music and games.

Probably the best Griot pizza and maybe the only Griot pizza I've ever had and It was the best. They were not selfish with the meat and provided a loaded pizza. The staff was welcoming and assisted with making my drink selection; A Passion fruit Margarita, layered with alcohol. Delicious!! The location is in central BK. The very chill spot that is great for a mid-day hang, easy dinner, or work chill spot... Basically anything.

Came on a Sunday in the afternoon and there was available seating. The ambiance was simple - not vibey - there were board games, seats with pillows along the window, tvs, music playing. The food was okay - we got wings and the spicy chicken sandwich. Maybe the pizza or pasta might have been more memorable as that is what is popular on their menu. Service was reasonable - the person behind the bar was also the one servicing the tables.

Visited this spot with a friend and it went better than I expected. We came during happy hour and they have some pretty good deals. Cocktails are $10, wings are $1 and then you can get a 10" and a beer for $15. I will say that I wish they carried more beer options than the 3 they have on draft and the two bottled ones. The lychee martini is a MUST! The wings were super crispy and packed with flavor and the aioli it comes with was the perfect touch. Griot on pizza sounded alarming to me but was actually better than I anticipated. The portions here are a decent size so expect leftovers. Anya was our server and waitress and she was the sweetest and def took care of us. I foresee this place being packed during the summer months.

The stars finally aligned this winter and I had the opportunity to try it out. The vibes are perfect. Fog and bubbles, sea noises and all of the art go together seemlessly. Drinks were great. We had three and left suitably sloshed for the night with no aftereffects. We didn't have too many bites but the food was very good for a bar. I'm excited to go back and I hope we have just as much luck getting in next time.

All the drinks keep with the tropical, fruity taste with a hint of spice. The abyss section has some cocktails that are limited to two per customer. They have some bar bites like fried green tomatoes, shrimp toast, broiled oysters, ricotta, dumplings, sliders. I had the French fries with kimchi ranch, which were underwhelming. Bartenders were cool and kept the drinks coming. I got in immediately without an issue or a wait, but it was right after a snowstorm. I've seen some people struggle to get in or have a long wait.

Unfortunately this place fell very flat. Leading with what we liked: Their mocktail offerings were good, promising a 0.0% ABV which is hard to come across when mocktails are offered. They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.
