There's so many eateries on each block on the right side of Fort weaver road, they are located behind kfc, in the middle of a row of stores on the first floor in a 2 story building. There are hardly any Mexican restaurants now, so I book marked here to try when we needed to go Ewa Beach again. Chimichanga - 3.5 stars - for $16.99, the chimichanga was filled with Mexican rice, chorizo and asada. The food was fresh, but it tasted very light in flavor and the chimichanga tasted like it wasn't deep fried, so it was ok, but a bit soft and not crispy. It tasted healthy since not much oil, but it lacked spice or flavor to it. My friend had the ground beef taco for $14.99. He thought it was ok (3 stars) but the rice, beans and taco ground beef were bland, and when I tried it, it lacked flavor. They offered water which tasted chlorinated and only had bottled soda. Due to inflation, total came out to about $43 for 2 of us, plus tip. A bunch of construction workers came in to eat, so must be a popular place for locals working in ewa beach. Although it's healthier, filling and less greasy, it lacked the flavors of Mexican food I'm used to. Bathrooms are located on the second floor of the building. Service - 5 stars - the manager and cashier were very nice, however, when we got our own bottled drinks, the door of the fridge was confusing to open. read more

Love this place! I come here pretty often with my grandma and we always love it here. The food is excellent, the service is good, and it has great ambiance. I definitely recommend coming here. I usually get their lengua tacos or the super lengua buritto. But this most recent visit I got the mole enchiladas and they were very yummy as well. read more

Small restaurant in Ewa area, easy parking, clean environment , nice graphics on the walls but blaring overly loud I guess with what stands for popular rap type Mexican music that made it hard to converse. I ordered the Super Enchiladas $21.95/4 pcs 2 chicken green and 2 ground beef red, topped with lettuce.. These were all filled with a hearty amount of shredded chicken less so for the beef which was spiced fine but neither exceptional. No salsa guacamole or sour cream which would have been nice. Quesadilla with meat $16.95 Partner ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla from the menu but chicken was not grilled but shredded and had no sour cream or dab of salsa or guacamole which would have been nice. Very chintze if ya ask me! The quesadilla was practically devoid of any substantial amount of meat or flavor and quite pitiful for $17. I've been here with the family a bunch of times. The Ewa Beach location has a lot of parking and the ambiance is great. It's not a overly large restaurant but there are a lot of tables. The service he wonderful has the feel of home cooked. And the food really is. On this particular night I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Portion size is perfect and the sides of beans and rice were delicious. The enchiladas were cooked perfectly and the sauce accentuated the flavor of the chicken. It's a great place to come for some Mexican food...oh almost forgot the chips and salsa are always great! Give it a try, I think it's worth it. read more

I was craving Mexican food tonight and decided to try out this restaurant. It is located in a little shopping mall that has KFC, Ewa Pantry, Kountry Style Kitchen and Ewa Pointe Chinese Restaurant. I love the Frida paintings on the walls and the colorful decorations that made this place look so festive. Service was 5 stars! There were two ladies there and both were very friendly. There was this guy that needed to charge his phone (didn't order any food) and told him where the outlet was so he could plug it in. My hubby asked if he could get beer, and they told him that he could get some and bring it in. I decided to try the Frida's steak burrito plate with rice and beans. The flour tortilla was stuffed with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and red bell peppers. The burrito was huge for me, so I wrapped half of it for lunch the next day. We asked for salsa and the server brought 3 different ones. I chose the habanero salsa which had a good kick to it. Eating the salsa on the burrito was mucho yummers! Dessert was fried ice cream which was shared between 3 of us. The dough was soft and airy, and was a good balance of flavors with the ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The Mexican food is top notch here!! I've been ordering takeout and it's the first time I dined in. Ambience, I love the Mexican colors and Frida Kahlo theme. I you can just feel the love and pride sitting down. Service: Service was amazing! The lady at the counter is also the hostess and waitress. She is so amazing! We felt so welcome coming here. Food: OMG. The birroa tacos is amazing!!! I ordered the chicken mole and it was so delicious, my toddler didn't want her quesadillas. This place has the best horchata on island. Hands down. You want authentic, you got it. It's at Frida's. Overall, this is a family Fave for takeout, but now we really have to think about dining in more often. Best chimichanga's ever and I don't eat them. I ordered a vegetarian and it comes w rice and beans inside. Next time I won't order the plate since it comes w the sides built in. The brother had a California burrito (has fries inside) and it's his favorite. The Mr had the Classic chimichanga plate and wouldn't stop talking about it all the way home. Perfectly fried and fluffy inside. They have a tiny squeeze bottle of sauce that looks like sour cream mixed with hot sauce-but don't be fooled-it's hot sauce and it's hot! And awesome! Walked in around 11:45a and there were ample open tables to enjoy your lunch. I was greeted shortly after walking up to the counter and ordered Frida's Tacos-Carne Asada and a Chile Relleno Plate to go. The food came out quickly and packed up well to take home. The Chile Relleno was tasty and stuffed with a good amount of cheesy goodness. The tacos were delicious and the salsa provided has a nice kick to it. I will be back again. read more

This is the best Mexican food I've had in Oahu in the 6 months I've been here so far. Other places are usually pretty bad or just fine, but Frida's stands out above the rest. The food is great and the horchata is really good compared to others I've tried on this island, and the workers are super friendly. I also really like the decor and the vibe, but it's a shame that the restaurant is so small. It's also not the coolest, they definitely need some better AC in there. But! I am big backed through and through, and this place gave me some good nostalgia of the Mexican food back home, so these gripes are very minor. I hope this establishment will get more business so they can upgrade, I'd love to see a little place like this prosper like it deserves to! read more

Came here to try the MexicanMade Made the drive into Ewa & found this location in a fairly new complex. This location was newer, nicer & cleaner than the Waipahu location which is in an older building. Although, there was a small dine in area, the restaurant was take out only. We ordered a variety of menu items to try and share for a movie night dinner experience. Although we enjoyed trying Frida's, nothing stood out as being exceptional. The esquites that everyone raved about was in a small luau boat container at this location and pricey considering it is made from canned corn. I didn't snap a pick because it spilled into the brown paper bag it was placed in. Not posting a price list as the menu does not state up charges for certain item such as choice of meat ($1 extra for lengua). Only noticed as I was being rung up. I like supporting small business, so maybe will try other items on the menu in the future. read more

Heard about this place awhile ago and was excited to finally try it! My boyfriend and I walked in and put in a takeout order. The dining area was very inviting with its' decor paying tribute to Frida Kahlo and the staff were very friendly as well. We were told that the wait would be about 15 minutes and it did take a little longer, but I didn't mind since there were some people dining in and they seemed to have phone orders as well. We had ordered the birria enchilada plate, the chicken clasicas enchilada plate, and some drinks. The drive from the restaurant to our house was less than 10 minutes but the food wasn't very warm by the time we got there which I was a bit sad about. I got the birria enchiladas and while I liked it, I expected a bit more flavor and the beef could've been a bit more tender. The portion of the enchiladas itself was good but I wish they gave a bit more rice and beans. I tried my boyfriends plate and it was good as well, but I had some of the same complaints. It wouldn't be such a big deal if the plates weren't on the pricier side. Nonetheless, I recommend trying this place at least once! This review is for takeout. I didn't eat-in so I can't speak for the dine-in service, but the cashier was very friendly and accommodating. With that being said, I am born and raised in Hawaii, but having lived in Southern California and having tried "real" street tacos in Tijuana, I've become a "street taco snob" I've tried (too) many tacos in hawaii that have not been good at all, but these were amazing. As close to authentic that I've had ever since moving back home. This was my second time here and I am a sucker for Lengua (cow tongue) which is pretty rare to find in Hawaii. The lengua is nice and soft and cooked to perfection. The salsa verde and rojo are on the more mild side. The only thing I wish they had is grilled Serrano peppers. Also, the three taco plate usually comes with rice and beans but I don't like beans so I always go with all rice. We also enjoyed their quesadillas and horchata! read more

Didn't realize that Frida's had a location apart from their Waipahu one. Met up with a friend for lunch at their Ewa Beach restaurant. There was a fair amount of takeout orders and a few patrons dining in, but we were able to get our plates within 10 minutes. I ordered the flautas, which were delicious and came with a side of rice and beans along with some chips and salsa. Unfortunately, no Mexican Coke available and it seemed like a lot of their special beverages were out of stock. However, service was fast and friendly, and the food at Frida's is fantastic! My husband ordered takeout on Sunday at 6:30pm. We ordered classic enchiladas, esquites, and tostadas. On the menu, it states that the tostadas come with beans on the tostada and is served with rice. Unfortunately, Frida's is kind of inconsistent. When they're on, it's onnnnn! The flavors are good, the fries (in the Cali burrito and the asada fries) are crispy, and the meat is amazing. But when they're off, the meat is extremely dry and everything needs a good douse of salsa and lime just to get down. It's very disappointing. I find that it's better to go on a weekend. The staff is always friendly and service is great. The restaurant itself is cute and clean. Plenty of parking. Frida's remains my go to spot when I'm craving street tacos, but I make sure to only satisfy my craving on a Saturday. read more

I recommend making it a plate so you get the rice and beans. They give you complimentary chips and salsa as well. They do not serve alcohol(BYOB), but Ewa Pantry is right next door(IYKYK). Cutest logo ever! Frida Kahlo kawaii-ed up! And they sold swag with their logo on it! So tempting. The Ewa location was clean & neat and luckily for us, pretty empty. It filled up by the time we left and the take outs were pretty consistent. Not crazy but it seemed like most customers had someone(s) waiting at home for them. Service was excellent and when I mentioned that I wanted it all veggies no cheese, the server was quick to ask if I was vegan - informing me that the guacamole had sour cream in it. I was grateful for having a server that was "on it." Bf had the enchilada. It was huge. But disappointingly everything was a bit bland. I didn't like this dish, Chicken Mole enchilada. The chicken was very dry and flavorless. The mole was too sweet. The refried beans was watery and tasteless. And the rice had peas and corn. This is the worst Mexican food I've had in my life honestly. The chips and salsa were just ok. Even the salsas they brought weren't flavorful, very bland. I gave 2 stars since the people I was with liked their burrito and enchilada birria. But since I can't vouche for the taste myself I can't give a higher score. The dish I had was just a 1 star.
