went in for a new battery and they put one in very fast, I paid and left, got home, decided to take a look and discovered my battery compartment was in very bad shape. Had to pull the battery out and to refigure the battery cage so it would hold the battery as it should. Who ever did the job had no clue as to how to put the compartment back properly. 5 years ago this shop tried to take advantage of my 89 yo mother when she took it in for oil change by telling her she needed to replace the water pump for $1200 in her 2013 Toyota Corolla w/28000 miles. Fortunately she was not taken in by their rude and aggressive sales pitch. When I took her car to my preferred shop, they inspected vehicle and found nothing wrong with the water pump. By the way, I sold the car to my neighbor 3 years ago, water pump and rest of the car still running with only routine maintenance. read more

I recently had my emergency brake repaired at friendly auto west. The cable was broke which I knew before taking it to them. They gave me a qoute which I approved but when I picked up the truck they tried to charge me $120 more than approved. Nobody called me about the extra work. They said phone issues and apologized, I was able to get them to reduce the additional 120 down to 60. Not happy. They charged me $168 fo an inspection fee even though I told them and showed them the problem. Beware of them! read more

Took my car in because it wouldn't start and got it back with more problems. This place sucks.

I have my clutch replaced and then a few weeks later my car broke down on the highway. I had it towed to their garage. They did not replace the clutch cable back correctly after the repair. They refused to reimburse me for the tow. They were so rude and Chris said the cable came off because the way the car was driven! I have taken multiple cars to their shop! Too bad they don't live up to the friendly name! read more

I have spent $210.00 plus 312.00 in the space of 3 weeks again to get my air conditioning fixed on my Hyundai Santa Fe with this company. Its owned by a guy named Felix and he had amazing reasons why it was going to cost another 1280.00 to have a warranted repair after spending what I already had . I was told by another repair shop in Yakima to watch out for these guys but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them anyway. I never write reviews but this time its on. I will have nothing good to say about my experience with Friendly and they are anything but! Keep your money head somewhere else read more

Felix and his Mechanics brought my car's brakes back to life. No, really. No brake pads, metal on metal, grinding metal parts, one caliper seized, and some bearings shredded. Fixed in about 6 hours of work. This is not at the West Side Location this was at their NEW Location on 1st Ave and Maple. I used to live on the West Side and now they have a location closer to my new apartment. THANKS FELIX! read more

Unbelievably long wait. They didn't have the oil filter they needed, so instead of letting me know, they ordered a new one from another location and let me sit in the lobby for 2 and a half hours with no update. Will not be returning, and would definitely not recommend to anyone. read more

I love this place. I started going here when I lived in Yakima. Now that I live in Seattle, I still drive over to have them work on our cars. I can't believe their rating is so low. They have always been truthful and honest with me. There prices are great and I have never had an issue with their work. Most of the work I have had done has been put under warranty, but I have never had to use it. They do get busy, sometimes really busy, call and schedule appointment if you can. read more

Disappointing experience. I had a recent wheel bearing replaced early this year, $800ish repair. Recently that same wheel started making noise or at least it sounded like it was the same wheel, so I took it down to get looked at. They had it for a few days before suggesting a few things none of which was related to the wheel but the transmission, alignment, and tire rotation for $999. They also suggested springs on both rear sides be replaced, another $1900. I approved these suggestions minus the springs. So... I get the truck back and now it pulls, it has never pulled since I purchased the truck. The steering wheel is now about 15° to the left to drive straight. I call them and let them know of this new issue, and Damien (Gentlemen you took my call) stated that since I need my springs replaced they did the best they could on the alignment. So I paid for something, that they made worse and now want me to spend $1900 for the rears spring to get it aligned properly. I then asked if I was SOL until I replaced the springs and his answer was "pretty much" Lastly, I called their shop on 1st Street by accident but the gentlemen that took my call apologized about the alignment issue and asked that I bring it down ASAP. He later called me back to let me know that I had called the wrong shop, best I take it where the repair was done. read more

I have been going to friendly for years. My last visit I felt cheated with no help with my problem. I asked for tune up and let them know my idle was off. They put 4 plugs in did not look at anything else -cost $118.00. I talked to a friend that works at Midas he said be sure to check radiator fluid sure enough fixed problem. Friendly just wanted more $ to diagnose the problem. read more

My daughter works at Safeway and befriended someone that works here so when my wife's van needed to be jumped several times they decided to take it in. Her friend assured her that they would be treated fairly and not over charged, as so very many Automotive establishments in the Yakima area are known to do. My wife was told they needed to leave the van there for several hours so they could determine what was wrong with it and it would cost $125. Plus tax to diagnose the problem. They called me and I informed them that they were about to be cheated to just come home and I would check the van out. Within 3 minutes I had the answer, the battery needed replaced. I am so tired of the thieves of our once great nation not only getting away with their dishonest ways but actually thriving. Our Lord shows us if the head is bad the whole body will be. That is very apparent in our federal and state governments as well as the judges, cops, lawyers etc. it truly galls me when, as a veteran, I am thanked for my service with one hand while the other hand is stealing from my family's finances. Find a place you can trust to get you Automotive repairs taken care of because this is not the place!!!! read more

If you are looking for a mechanic that will fix your car on time, fix it right, keep you informed and not do any damage to your vehicle don't go here. We spent over $6200.00 on our van. Had a rebuilt engine delivered to them and they said it would take 3 days. 15 days later we get it back and have to return it in an hour because it was bucking when driven on the freeway. 7 days later we get it back again. They changed the transmission mounts that we are sure might have needed to be changed BUT the van is still bucking and that is what they were supposed to fix. Did not go back to them but think maybe we have a transmission problem. No that's not the problem. We discover they didn't phase the distributor correctly and we take it back to them. Schedule an appointment and tell them we aren't leaving it as the repair will only take an hour. Get there and they can't work on it for 3 days. Really ticked. Go somewhere else and the guy fixes it in 15 minutes. The distributor was off 20 point. We sent them the bill for the repair as it was something that should have been done when the engine was replaced. The problems with this company just goes on and on. We even tried trouble shooting the problems created by Friendly. They also damaged the pulley attached to the harmonic balancer, I assume when they took out the engine. We spent many hours trying to find another and finally found someone who could take the wobble out of it. Sent them the bill for that, too. As of today they have not paid for the repair work we have had to do other places because they are too busy or just don't care. We aren't talking about a lot of money. $64.00 for the distributor and $43.00 for fixing the pulley they damaged. The other damage to the van we have fix ourselves, like the bent back door, grease on the car seat, door and carpet, broken bracket holding the turn lights, leaking radiator hose fitting, loose brackets for the transmission, cruise control not working, and other evidence of sloppy worksmanship. If you are looking for a company that will make you want to drive your vehicle off a cliff after spending a ton of money this is the one to go to. read more
