Located in Hillcrest Plaza Shopping Center in Plymouth Meeting, this is one of the last Friendly's restaurants left in the area (unfortunately Lansdale, Montgomeryville and Quakertown all closed). I have fond memories going to Friendly's since I was a kid in the PA locations and down south, so coming here is awesome to relieve those awesome memories too! Theres much that I love about Friendly's! The restaurant design, the awesome appetizers (still some of the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had), the soup and grilled cheese, and of course the ice cream!! Friendly's has ways had some of the best ice cream with the best sundaes, shakes, toppings etc. The ice cream cakes are cool too! (No pun intended). Soooooo ratchet it's ridiculous. You can literally hear everything the employees talk about because they are sooooo loud, talking about their personal business and complaining about being cut because the restaurant is slow. So I did not even realize that this place already had such low ratings. There has been a recent change of management there is a gentleman there that manages with no customer service. He screwed up our order and refused to refund the money told us that he cannot reverse the charge on a debit card which any bank will do. We went back-and-forth and the customer is always right does not work at this place of business. Consumer beware... Been coming here since I was a little kid, over 20 years! Recently remodeled which is sad I remember the glass used to be see through between booths and now it's like metallic spray paint. Also used to be smoking and non-smoking! Crazy thought now days but it worked. Food choices are pretty good at this location and quality is always good for food. Overall the food is good and the portions are decent. The staff can be an issue if you eat there but it has gotten better recently. I usually order take out from here and haven't had to many issues other then some delays when the place is packed, etc. I do wish that they would stop changing some of the menu items. I loved the onion rings that they used to have (they still have the fronions which are good but onion rings were a nice alternative). What can I say, Ice cream is good and is usually prompt (at least when I've been there). As I mentioned it seems like the staff has gotten better overall recently, it's not perfect just better then it was/has been over the past year or so. Only 2 stars because the entire place looked and felt dirty. Table and booths were greasy. Bathroom was gross. Waiters, hostess and chefs were loudly yelling at and fighting with each other, repeatedly. I only had a sundae, and it was delicious, but took 15 minutes. It also seemed small and expensive. The dish was no where near as full as the menu picture. I have had many sundaes at local establishments, and this was by far the least ice cream for the most money. But, again, it was delicious. Okay so my fiancé and I just relocated back to the north from the South where there is no Friendly's. Both of us were ecstatic to see one since we both had fond memories of childhood family outings. We remembered stellar food, excellent friendly service, and killer ICECREAM in many forms. Then we walked in... and not sure why we didn't walk right back out. His wrap tasted like lettuce, and my burger could have used any and I mean any type of seasoning. Despite the reviews our service was pretty fast, but, it made me wary. The appetizer came 3 mins before the entrees and didn't seem made to order. Our waiter was nice but, spoke to us like we were buddies hanging out with phrases like "You good" or "Y'all cool". My son seemed to be enjoying himself, and I fear he will have the same fond memories of childhood and be disappointed as an adult. Although he did eat both of his sliders, he seemed to enjoy the celery served with our mediocre buffalo fingers the most. Our first visit and LAST! I took my kids here for an ice cream, we ordered at the take out counter. My husband and I ordered the Friend-z Reese cup, and my kids got a scoops in a cup. I was supposed to have peanut butter sauce in mine ( which I didn't) because my husbands friend-z was almost entirely peanut butter sauce, ice cream and no chocolate sauce ! I went here last Saturday night. Except for being seated promptly the service was awful. Our waitress was horrible, we kept having to ask for beverage refills. The food took forever to come out. The bathroom is down right disgusting. There were fruit flies flying around. I had to change my infant daughter and the baby changing station looked like it had never been clean. Had a simple order: Two scoops of ice cream. They screwed that up.. I got back in line, with 3 new customers. The Friendly's employee saw me and asked what I wanted, ahead of the 3 customers. I told her that they screwed up my order, and I would like it fixed. She told me to wait, then took the other 3 customer's orders. After that, she turned and started to help another customer. It was at this point that I left my ice cream and walked out. Poor customer service is no way to run a business. A proactive approach would have been to take my correct order and diffuse the issue. Went to this friendly's last Friday with my aunt and it was an ok place. I have never really been to one before but it's similar to places I have been. I mean what's not to like they serve really good burgers and fries and their shakes are to die for if you have enough room in your stomach to eat one of course. Since there aren't any around where I live anymore, I always drag whoever I'm with when I have the chance. They have the best chicken fingers and honey mustard ever. This restaurant had a terrible smell as soon as you walked in. That might be the reason the place was empty.

I grew up on eating Friendly's and I often take my kids because their food is usually affordable and fairly good (usually a solid 3 stars or more, depending on the location). I have been to this location four times in the two years I've lived in the area, and each time, the service and food quality have gone down considerably. Also, the prices have gone up without any increase in the portions. They revamped the kids menu so that now there's only one type. For a very long time, they had a regular kids menu and a mighty kids menu (a few extra dollars, but bigger portions). For the kids' meal drinks, they now charge an extra $1 for ordering a Fribble. My order came out in a timely manner, but when they did, all of us sitting looked at each other in shock. The fries that accompanied my kids' cheeseburgers and chicken tenders looked like someone ate half of them prior to them being served. The mac and cheese was fine, but the hot dogs that came out with them were inedible. I tried one piece and it tasted odd- like it was rotten. The four hot dog pieces were pale and overcooked. How they managed that, I'm not sure! I ordered the chicken ranch salad, which looked like a dollar side salad from a fast food restaurant. Meanwhile, I thought when I ordered I was getting a deal because the salad was on the $5 menu. The lettuce was fresh, but I opted not to eat the tomatoes because they looked soggy and brown inside. As for the desserts, my kids all got the candy shop sundaes and I got the happy ending. It looked as if the person who prepared them did so with his/her eyes closed. They came out messy with ice cream dripping out of the sides and the whipped cream lopsided and melting all over. The flavors were fine- as expected- but that presentation was simply unacceptable. When the check came, I noticed that the waitress charged me full price for the Fribbles instead of the $1 upcharge on each. Also, for my salad, I was upcharged for getting grilled chicken which I didn't request. I was also charged extra for cherries because my kid wanted more than one. I didn't contest that charge even though I never used to get charged for that. My waitress apologized and had the manager fix the bill-- twice. As for the service, it was not great. The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there, and wasn't very friendly. She didn't check in on is frequently enough, so we had to wait for water refills and had to come up to the counter to request a few things like a straw and spoon. The ambiance of this place was sketchy. While some families came in and were fine (kept to themselves, maintained a manageable volume, and were out for a nice time), there were two families that were so loud that you could hear them disciplining their children. One lady was threatening to hit her child for acting up. Another let her toddler find his own way to the bathroom, which was way over by the entrance and down a hallway. He couldn't find the bathroom on his own (obviously), so he was screaming for help. This doesn't make for a pleasant eating environment! Overall, it was a terrible experience. When your kids tell you that they're never going back to a restaurant, that's pretty telling. They were unanimous in feeling that way last night after our dinner. Hopefully this bad experience was only for this location. I'll have to find a new Friendly's for when I have a craving for their coffee ice cream and peanut butter topping! I have just recently moved to the area and Friendly's sent us some coupons so I thought I'd take my husband and son out for a dinner and ice cream. When we got there, we got seated promptly, and our drinks were delivered to us pretty quick. Our waitress was nice enough. It wasn't until after we ordered our food however that our waitress told us she had bronchitis and was still getting over it.... BRONCHITIS IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS -I have two main questions - 1. Why is management allowing their worker with BRONCHITIS to serve food and 2. Why would you still serve my family and my two year old knowing you have a highly contagious and dangerous sickness? I knew what I wanted prior to coming, so, I ordered clam strips, fries, and tea. The food came in an adequate amount of time. I was good with everything up until the moment I went to put some salt on my fries, when I realized that there were so few fries that I would literally have to count out an exact amount of salt grains to place on the scantily placed fries. Seriously, there were 14 French fries, actually 13, not counting the one that fell onto the table. It was so few, that, yes, I actually counted them. No assumption, or guessing at all. But!, there was quite a decent amount of clam strips. I went to the kitchen and approached my waitress about this, and she apologized, and called to the cook to get some more fries, so, she brought me out another 12(lmao). I couldn't make this up if I wanted to. I did enjoy the clam strips. The bathroom could've used a good going over, with maybe, some actual deodorizing agent of some kind, because it smelled pissy, ...uggghhh. I feel sorry for anyone who came later in the day, per se, and if they were crowded(well, that's a reach, but, it could happen...i guess.. Lol), and if they were blessed to get seated in the "Enchanted Grotto" (as Frasier and Niles referred to seating by the bathroom, on the Frasier show)... We were looking to order milkshakes for pickup on 1/6/19. A female answered, unsure of the name, according to policy, it is not allowed to order ice cream for pick up. This makes total sense. Instead of stating the hours or providing any sort of customer service, the female said, "Have a good night" and hung up. Visited Friendly's last night and probably the last. The server couldn't find a clean table for us to sit at. We were freezing and looking at other guest they were too. It took over hour for us to get our food a salad, burger, and kid meal. 20 minutes for ICE CREAM. I can get past all that. What annoyed me the most was they offer add onion rings, fries or waffle fries to your order. So I did I added waffle fries. When the bill came I was charged for the appetizer loaded waffle fries.
