We wanted iHop for breakfast and just as we sat down the fire alarm started going off. After waiting nearly 30 mins with no signs of the fire department or a resolution to the alarm, we decided to go across to Friendlys. Almost everyone made the same decision so they were packed however the service was great. Our server Cheryl was super friendly. It was clear they were not used to having such a large crowd but they did very well. The food came out relatively quick considering the circumstances. We enjoyed our breakfast & the price was really good. Definitely will be back again. read more

I went to the Friendly's in Medford just last night. Our waiter made our experience awkward, nor did he do a good job. I asked for a side of honey mustard twice and was never brought it. My husband also asked for no ranch on his sandwich but was given ranch. My daughter's Mac and cheese was definitely kraft and also looked like it was leftovers. It was stuck together like glue and she did not eat it. We are so disappointed. We usually love this location but will not be going back. read more

Four stars for nostalgia, three stars for quality and service, two stars for value. Friendlys is an essential Long Island kid experience. I vividly remember it being the place of birthdays and graduation celebrations for my whole childhood. I took my older daughter here dozens of times before we moved but never got to bring my youngest. For this visit back to our roots I knew I had to see this baby enjoy a cone head sundae. Now friendlys is certainly not high brow but in the last couple years they've revamped their menu and also drastically escalated their prices. Imagine my shock upon seeing my beloved honey bbq chicken supermelt has skyrocketed from $8.99 to a shocking $14.99. The upgrade from regular fries to waffle fries that used to be .79c is now $2.29! I know I sound like a real boomer with that rant but sheesh- sticker shock. A meal that once ran us about $35 came out to $71 today. Having the sentimental experience with my youngest daughter was worth it- just once though. As I gazed at my husband over the gargantuan five scoop sundae we have shared a hundred times before I had a realization that this is probably the last time. Even if we visit the island again, we probably wouldn't drop $70 here again with so many other worthwhile restaurants around. The food was good quality, and the items we ordered for nostalgia sake were as consistent as ever but it seems friendlys is now just a bit too rich for our blood. Hi. I haven't been at friendly in medford long island location in a while. Brianna our server did a hell of a job! Not only did she take our order, she checked up on us to see if everything was good. I also, noticed she was working a lot of tables. Then, she actually bus the tables of her fellow colleagues. I was very impressed with her work ethic. Stopped by for some ice cream after shopping at Stop & Shop. This was my first Friendly's ice cream experience and, as an ice cream lover, it didn't even phase me that the weather was ice cold outside. I still needed my fix! Though they do have indoor seating and a full menu, my husband and I opted to stop in to just order some ice cream to go. I was impressed with the various types of sundaes and ways one could have their ice cream served but I was a little disappointed with the lack of selection of ice cream flavors. Perhaps the flavors I ordered were not popular, but I was also sad to get home and find that one of my scoops of ice cream tasted a little old with hints of freezer burn (Vienna Mocha Chunk). My husband's Reese's Pieces sundae also seemed to instantly disintegrate into soup as he started to dive in. (Our destination was not far from this Friendly's location, so the potential for the ice cream to maintain its form was high.) Service was friendly at the counter. I asked to sample two flavors, both of which I ended up not ordering (neither had freezer burn), and the young lady helping us was patient, kind, and extremely helpful in answering our questions and filling our order. Though the ice cream itself was a little bit of a let down, we did come in toward the end of the night and perhaps, that made an impact on our order. Came in on a Friday evening and it wasn't all that crowded but you'd think it was crazy. It took quite a few minutes to be sat. Our waitress (E) was nice but clearly multitasking was not her strong suit. She came and went multiple times without checking on her tables or even saying she would be right with us before taking our order. It took almost 10 minutes before we were asked for drinks which we gave all of our food order at once. Our appetizer came out and we had no sharing plates. We ate without them. Our food finally arrived and two tables that left while we sat there were never bussed/cleaned leaving the section of the restaurant looking filthy. The table next to us ordered their ice cream to go as the children were tired and ready to leave. When the table next to us left they audibly told us not to order ice cream as it took a ridiculous amount of time to receive it. We did not order ice cream and we're very unhappy with the experience. The restaurant stayed fairly empty and unclean. Tips: even if you can't take orders, acknowledge the table and say I'll be right with you. If we put dishes off to the side carry those back into the kitchen. Leaving unbussed tables can ruin an appetite. read more

Honestly pretty surprising seeing such a low rating for this location. I've been coming here for years long before the fire and the new restaurant and the food has always been exactly what you expect to it be...cheap, fried, greasy, & frozen. If you're coming to Friendly's with the mindset that it's going to be a 5 star meal that's on you... -Mini Mozzarella Sticks: 5/5, kind of a staple at Friendly's. These little bastards are delicious. I could house probably 100 of them. Hard to mess up fried cheese I suppose, but these are the bees knees. -New England Clam Chowder: 5/5, I hate to say it...like I REALLYYY hate to say it, but this has always been the best New England I've ever had. I don't know what it is, and I really hate to admit that Friendly's New England Clam Chowder is the best I've had..but it is what it is. -Fried Chicken Tenders: 4/5, again, the quality of the chicken is not great. They're just frozen tenders BUT they're delicious. The honey bbq & buffalo sauce are equally as good. This is always my go to when I come here and I'm never disappointed. -Grilled Cheese with Bacon: 2.5/5, thankfully I did not order this myself, but I did try it. Just like a lot of other things on the menu I personally wouldn't stray from the fried chicken/burger scene here because things like a grilled cheese just really isn't something I'd recommend getting at Friendly's unless you want a thin greasy bread sandwich. Again, Friendly's is great for what it is...a quick low quality tasty meal. I wouldn't come here with a lobster dinner in mind is all I'm saying. I haven't been to a Friendly's in a very long time. I remember them in Staten Island mall and in NJ. A Staten Island girl came to visit her sister in Long Island. As my sister was driving around, I was excited to see Friendly's and I was like OMG! My sister looked at me like I'm crazy but we were in the mood for ice cream anyway. So we went in hoping for a meal and ice cream. As we sat down, the waitress were very friendly and helpful. Both of us have dietary needs and mostly based on gluten and celiac diseases. We found one or two items on the menu that seems reasonable. We had to double check with our waitress and she had no idea what are the policy if the meals will be cooked separately due to gluten. That was our clue to leave and find a different place to eat. Which we went to the pizzeria (Cafe Gia) across the parking lot that had gluten free mozzarella sticks and gluten free calzone. We apologized to the waitress for wasting her time and she was totally fine with it. We took our soda to go and we came back to Friendly's for our Reese Cup ice cream fix. I picked up an order today consis of the Munchie Mania, the 3 apps I chose were the cheeseburger sliders, mini mozzarella sticks, and a chicken quesadilla. They were all very hot, came with all the dipping sauces, was so delicious! I also ordered the lunch special, half of grilled cheese and chicken soup. I saw another review for tonight it was pretty bad. I agree. My wife and I went for a light dinner about 8PM. The place was just about empty. For 5 minutes, nobody looked at us or sat us. Finally somebody showed us to a table. We waited about 10 minutes and nobody took our order, greeted us or even looked at us. We walked out! The funny thing was on our way out, one of the employees, very innocently said have a nice night.
