I had to go to Shirley because I needed a destination so that I could run my car engine,..well anyway. Went to Home Depot and returned three rhododendrons wilted by frost, then realized I had forgotten to bring a protein bar for lunch. Found Tasty Home nearby, read the reviews, and decided to try it! Figured there would be gluten-free options, and there were. The menu is on an IPad. No prices. H'mm. Ordered carnitas tacos--they didn't seem to have chicken?--and asked if they had agua fresca. No. No iced tea, just tea bags for hot tea. But they have juice! I decided on pineapple. They have soda, but I don't drink it. I went to pay, and was very surprised that the total was $27. I had expected the bill to be less than $20. Turns out that the tacos were $16 for three, and the juice was $9. I guess I've been spoiled by low prices in CO, and a sane president. The tacos were good, if skimpy. Not very much filling at all, although there were two corn tortillas with each, plus limes and sauce. The pineapple juice was freshly juiced and quite large. The nice man behind the counter asked if I wanted lemon in it, so I said sure. Very refreshing! So $9 for a large glass wasn't too bad. The tacos were a bit pricey IMO for the skimpy filling, but the flavor was very good. I'm used to paying $3-4 each for stuffed tacos. In Colorado. This is NY, sooo. There are several different hot entrees, salad, and really yummy-looking ice cream. It's a small, very clean place, with a very nice restroom (also spotlessly clean), although I wish they would add a purse hook. There's a television, and the nice owner put on a tv show in English for me. All in all, a very pleasant lunch. read more

My husband and I stumbled on this delicious new family-owned spot by chance and we will DEFINITELY be regular customers. Everything was so clean and fresh, the food was flavorful and made-to-order and the service was incredibly friendly and helpful. They are brand new and still working out a few kinks with the menu but the owner was happy to kindly walk us through all their choices and it didn't feel pushy at all. I had the birria tacos which were absolutely fabulous and crispy without being too greasy. My husband had a generous and tender order of the carne asada tacos, rice and beans and enjoyed every bite. The real star of the show though was the cheese pupusa that we ordered for our toddler. It was huge and flavorful with a delicious sauce for dipping and a crispy slaw on the side. We were happy she was too full to finish it and gladly helped with the leftovers. To top it all off, we each had a scoop of their ice cream and we all left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. We will absolutely be back and look forward to trying their breakfast options. Authentic Salvadorian food with generous portions and an incredible family-run atmosphere. Ok! So...I am actually a little delayed as I tried them last week but forgot to put up a review. My first time walking in the servers were extremely kind and helpful with recommendations and offering their menu. I ended up getting a small platter of pernil, a small order of plantains, and a medium fruit salad. It was pretty good! Not gonna lie! I am actually back here today after my walk for a fruit salad. I'd say give it a try it is a small business so they don't have much in comparison to other places but it is pretty good! So happy they are here! read more

We tried giving a family business a try to support locally but, main phone number was disconnected called a few other numbers and got a call back. We placed our order and were told 25 mins. Upon arrival staff did not greet us. When someone else finally did come out he told us order was not received and that we'd have to reorder. When We decided to leave he knocked on the car door and said it was a mix up. When we received our food it was cold, empanadas were over cooked and chichiron was inedible and couldn't even bite through it. Didn't even give us anything additional to say sorry or a discount for all the inconvenience. Staff was rude. Food not good. Will not be coming back. read more

The sign says breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It closes at 12. This means that they are not open for either lunch OR dinner. Also, they were randomly closed when I went to try them anyway. Waste of space. read more

This is the first time I am going there the wife went to the get food I am in a walker can't get out much me & The Wife enjoyed there rice with black beans. I had there soup with corn,potatoes,cabbage,zucchini, & beef the vegetables where great the soup was way to salty for my taste. I use to go out with a Mexican a long time ago have mother use to cook soup with a lot of salt and her father use to say she puts way too much much salt for his taste. There chicken was good that my wife & I had. I am a Retired Diesel Mechanic that loves two jobs but only can do one. I was hospitalized for dehydration & Heat Exhaustion I was hospitalized over a month and a half left me in a walker. So now I do my second love is cooking. I cook all kinds of dishes from Italian cuisine,Jamaican Food,Chinese food, I love cooking curry Goat. I am going to try next is Oxtail Stew. I hope that Tasty Home gets there menus soon I like to try some of there other foods they have. read more
