    Vegan tofu sandwich
    Hector I.

This restaurant located in the busy street of Whyte av is the epitome of local family restaurant. The restaurant offers lots of options from Pho to brunch food. The restaurant is decorated like a diner. The service is kind and prompt. I ordered the vegan tofu sandwich. The food was delicious and the coffee was great. Overall great place to have brunch. The service can be confusing as we were unsure who the server was for our table.

Where else can you go that has 3 completely different menus coming out of the kitchen? A full diner menu, a full vegan menu and a full Vietnamese menu...it's a great place to go when you don't know what you want, because they have everything. I'm not vegan but I appreciate that they're trying different things with their vegan dishes & it's not just a pile of vegetables (their "egg" looks like an egg but it's a bean "yolk?" ) Check out their full menus online first if you're easily overwhelmed like I was!

    Chicken salad rolls

This is a great place with lots of options including for our vegetarian and vegan friends! Located down Whyte Ave, it's tucked away at the edge by Boston Pizza and Cafe Mosaics. We ordered the chicken salad rolls, bun bo hue (BBH), and the chicken vermicelli bowl. They have a large menu with a bunch of options and can cater to everyone's dietary needs. The chicken salad rolls were fresh, albeit a bit bland as I don't think the chicken was seasoned. However, the peanut sauce saved the day with its smooth consistency and bomb flavour. The BBH here was definitely one of the better ones I've found in Edmonton. The broth had the perfect amount of spiciness to it, was flavourful, and light. The beef was not overcooked at all and was very tender. The chicken vermicelli bowl was pretty typical, however. I really enjoyed the grilled chicken and the housemade fish sauce went perfectly with it. It's a good vermicelli bowl, no complaints here. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for some Vietnamese fare when they're down Whyte. They're very accommodating, no matter what dietary restrictions you have. I also spied on their breakfast menu and saw that they offered 10 different kinds of Eggs Benedict?? I might pop in again soon to give it a try!

Horrible service, waitress barely said 2 words to us, never checked on us, rotten fruit cup. Service and food barely 1 star

Basically non existent service, the waitress barely said 2 words to us, never checked on us. Rotten fruit cup, over all food and service was barely a 1 star.

Friends & Neighbors cafe on Whyte Avenue.

Friends & Neighbors Cafe is totally unpretentious, which I love. There's a big fish aquarium at the very back of the cafe, and the booths remind me of the leather seats in a 50s-style Cadillac. The menu has all kinds of dishes, like Asian, Italian, American, and even Edmontonian--I had the Whyte Ave melt! What was most memorable was when the owner came out and started to play the accordion. It was someone's birthday, so he went over to their table and played a whole bunch of songs. He was good at it and everything, but he wouldn't stop. He just kept playing and playing, and it got a bit annoying, because it was hard to have a conversation with such loud music. But it was still really amusing and quirky, and I can't wait to go back.

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton

Definitely 50 diner vibes. I loved it. Super fun. Our server was helpful and friendly. Although a little ditsy. Forgot our order after we made it. Forgot our drinks. But nice and super apologetic. We were there for breakfast, so we decided both on the steak and eggs. We both asked for the steak to be done medium rare. My hubby asked for eggs scrambled while I asked for them to be sunny side up. Food came out slowly which was odd because besides us there was only one other couple dining (The weather was nasty outside). Food was tasty. Our steaks were cooked to our liking, and the seasoning was great. My eggs were cooked well. They were probably the most beautiful eggs I have seen for awhile. The home made hashbrowns were fine, but not as good as other places I have been to. I expected better. All in all it was a good experience. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was good and reasonably priced. And our server was nice. Check it out.

I love their cinnamon buns but this time I did not order one. My friend and I came here for supper. It was delicous. I loved my Red Curry Laksa. It was fresh and rich. Loved the red coconut curry sauce. The seafood was a decent portion. My friend liked her falafal but it definately wasn't the best she has had and was eyeing up my curry. Service was OK. I feel like because we didn't order alcoholic beverages, we didn't get service as much as the tables that did. That won't prevent me from coming here again.
