I decided to get an impromptu haircut, midway home, and luckily co Nancy was able to squeeze me in. Everyone was really friendly and nice, I honestly really loved the result. 10/10 would recommend. ( yah my hair was pretty chopped before I came in )

Came here on a recommendation from two friends. I loved their hair and how layered and flow-y it looked. I honestly haven't had a real layered haircut in so long. I usually do an even cut because it's so hard to get good Asian layering without it looking too thin or flattering to Asian hair/face. Nancy/Nhung knows what she is doing. Her specialty is layering. I told her exactly what I wanted: tiny trim, long layering with face framing "curtain bang" pieces. She really took her time with me and carefully made sure every piece was perfect. I honestly don't think I've ever come out of the salon feeling so happy and satisfied with a haircut before. She gave me EXACTLY what I wanted and I now have flow, style, and bounce to my hair! Nancy was also so sweet. She's been doing hair for 5 years and been in the beauty industry for 35 years. I had called after hours on a Saturday and she was able to take me in the next day. I'm so appreciative I finally trusted and came in to Friends Style Salon. I will DEF be coming back to get my hair done here

I called to make an appointment and when I showed up, the hairdresser explained she was on her way out and canceled my appointment without any warning. We rescheduled for the next day and when I sat down, she immediately started cutting without asking me what style or length I wanted. I corrected her, but she still cut off more than I wanted. I came in with grown out layers from a previous haircut and I just wanted to get them cleaned up a bit. She gave me new layers that were very choppy, and the face framing layers are super blunt (I could've cut them better myself honestly). The back of my head is a completely different length than the front. My hair is naturally straight so I've been curling it most days to hide how choppy the layers are. Thankfully my hair grows pretty fast but I will not be coming back here. The salon also smelled kinda strange which isn't a great sign for a hair salon lol.

It was my first time here and I am so glad I gave this place a shot! First off, the shop is so cute with all the decorations and succulents! I haven't gotten a haircut in over a year and had damaged ends from a perm, but Nhung was so gentle and patient with my hair. She really took the time to work on every layer and my hair looked so beautiful at the end. It's not easy to find a good hairdresser/hairstylist and I'm very happy I found her. I will be returning.

I made an appointment to get my haircut based on the other yelp reviews that I saw regarding layered haircuts. The salon is a bit hidden not visible from the street. I was quoted a price over the phone which was not honored when I arrived which is understandable since she said my hair was "too long". She got to cutting right away and cut A LOT more than I asked her to cut. She asked me to put my head back back and look at the ceiling for a picture (which is why my hair looks longer than it is. It was fine since my hair does grow pretty fast. The haircut itself was fine. I liked the way she styled it and the way it looked. She yanked and pulled at my hair way too much I left with a headache. Ok experience not satisfied with the price.

I let Nancy take the wheel with my haircut. I hadn't cut my hair in a year and desperately needed a refresh. I was able to book an appointment through Yelp and it was smooth sailing. I asked Nancy for layers and to cut my hair how she thought would be best for my face. My hair was pretty long and felt flat at the top so I was looking to trim some inches off in hopes of lightening my hair for some volume. I got my hair washed and then she cut it wet. After blow drying, additional cuts were made before she gave me a blowout. She informed me that she cut my hair evenly in the front so that I could part it however I liked. She also mentioned that my hair is thin so she didn't layer my hair too much/too high so that it still looked full. My hair looked so good after the blowout! I'm also satisfied with it after naturally drying my hair after I wash it. My hair is lighter and looks healthy! I'll definitely go back to Nancy for a hair cut when it's time again.

Super satisfied with the result! I've always gone somewhere different each time I get my hair cut, but I think Nancy is my go-to now. She's incredibly sweet, runs everything herself, and truly takes her time to make sure your hair is perfect. This was the most I've ever paid for a haircut, but I think it was worth it. I love the way she does layered cuts -- they have so much movement and shape. I tried recreating the blowout at home with my hairbrush dryer, and while it's nowhere near salon-level, I can definitely see how well the layers were done. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Nancy for a couple of years now and wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. My hair is quite fine, and other salons have over-thinned it, making it look flat and damaged. Nancy truly understands fine hair, she never over-thins it, and the shape of my haircut lasts a long time as it grows out. She's very professional, skilled, and cheerful, and she always makes the experience comfortable. I've also seen her fix many customers' bad haircuts, which really shows her experience and talent. I called on a whim, thinking they'd be booked since they only take appointments--but they fit us in right away! From the moment we walked in, you could see the great teamwork between the owner and staff. The whole service--from wash to cut to blow dry--took just one hour, yet they never rushed. My daughter is very particular about her hair, but she asked for 2 inches off with long layers, and the result was gorgeous. She walked out grinning, and so did I. Bonus points: they accept Zelle and Venmo, which makes paying a breeze! read more

I got a haircut a few weeks ago and it was decent when it was fresh but after a few weeks, the hair loses its shape and hold- I also noticed that the hairdresser used razor to cut my hair which led to a decent amount of split ends. Overall, it wasn't bad but I don't know if I will come back read more

This place is great! I called the same day for a haircut and Nancy was able to see me. I came in- no wait and Nancy is the sweetest. I came in for a haircut and thinning as my hair is really thick and long and giving me a headache. $75 for a wash, cut, thinning, and style Only con is that I walked away with a lot of hair stuck in my clothes. I discovered Friends Style Studio four years ago and haven't gone anywhere since. I used to live in Culver City and would make the trek because I trust her that much. Nancy is truly amazing. My ask for every haircut is a trim so it looks healthy and make me look good haha. And she nails it every single time! It was my first time coming to this salon and I am so happy I found it! I get anxious going to salons, Nancy was very understanding that I was a bit unprepared with no picture. I had a general idea of what I wanted and Nancy worked her magic. She was super friendly and knowledgeable. She made me feel at ease and gave me exactly what I wanted/needed. My first time here and it is in a small plaza, so it was hard to notice it at first. Overall Nancy did a great job! I have hair thinning Issues so my head usually looks very flat. I wanted volume by adding layers. Just in case you didn't know, Nancy has an award for Brazilian blowouts! I don't see that in a lot of the other salons. I think she did a really good job of layering. A lot of the previous places I've gone to either didn't layer enough or they end up cutting too short. Nancy did it just perfect. read more

Got a haircut here today. Hand's down, Nancy is the best! Made an appointment through yelp messaging. I asked for a straight cut/blunt on long hair with side bangs. She completely delivered. She double, then triple, then quadruple checked to make sure every hair was cut straight and perfect, and to my liking. This is the refresh I needed for my upcoming vacation. Highly recommend! Oh, and for those who use google maps to find this place: when you pull into the parking lot, the studio is on the left, not the right as stated with google. read more

Another great cut and dye! Nancy did such an incredible job touching up my roots. My dyed hair had actually gotten a little lighter at the ends and she was able to nicely blend my ends with my roots. The process did take a couple of hours on the chair but it was totally worth it! She does multi task between customers but she does has her helpers to help with each step of the process. read more

Amazing experience here as a first timer! I initially asked for a wolf cut but Nancy (owner) was very informal, educating me about how it would look on my specific hair type and facial structure. I ultimately agreed to lots of layering with some short curtain bangs and she did just that! She was so attentive to detail that she even asked if I tie my hair up a lot in order to get the perfect layering of bangs with the tied up look. Safe to say I will be returning for future cuts! read more

I came in for a standard layer hair cut to get ready for a wedding in a month. Nancy was really nice and her assistant that did the was was very gentle. When it came time for the hair cut, she recommended thinning out my hair because i have very thick hair. So i said okay. As she was cutting, i noticed she was "thinning" A LOT, like she was getting carried away, and starting close to the scalp. I didn't say anything cause she has a lot of good reviews and i just wanted to trust the process. She shows me the after photos and it looks nice, so i pay and leave. I bunch my hair and notice she REALLLLYYYY thinned it out! Usually, if i grab my hair i have about a quarter length of thickness; now it was like a dime size thickness! So much hair, gone! As i was feeling around, I noticed how short my under hairs were. And after a shower, it confirmed it.... she cut the underside of my hair up to 2 inches from scalp, so i have a lot of hairs just sticking out now. 2 INCHES! THIS IS GOING TO TAKE YEARS TO GROW OUT AGAIN! I REALLY hope it's unnoticeable in a month for the wedding! As friendly as Nancy was, I don't think she knows what she is doing or is self taught, i didnt check. Please save yourselves and your hair by going elsewhere. If you want to chance it, just say no to "thinning". I've attached a photo of right after the cut and after a shower. The 1 star is purely for skill level, not for Nancy's niceness. Everything else was great! But for haircuts, absolutely not. read more

although I believe nancy is a lovely person; sweet, very beautiful and charismatic person, I do regret getting the cut. i asked for very soft layers (only face framing in the front but relatively little layers in the back) and not much to be cut off, but roughly 4 inches was cut and the end result is very choppy. I feel like it could be better if the ends were thinned out or if she just did one straight cut instead of randomly cutting in many places, but this is the result. Unfortunately I do not have styling equipment to make it the way she did so when my hair is unstyled it looks very messy. I'm sad because I really liked my long hair but I wanted a clean and pretty look but I'm afraid it's a lot shorter and uneven. I should have been more clear. I'm grateful for her service but it was $65 for a 30 min cut + quick style. I don't know if it's worth:( read more

Unfortunately, most of the other times I visited, the staff seemed somewhat unfriendly. Yesterday, I brought both my daughter and my son in for haircuts. The salon did not seem very busy, so I asked if chị Hiền could cut my daughter's hair. She was busy, so I said anyone could take care of my kids. From the beginning, it felt like no one wanted to do children's haircuts. I'm not sure if it's because kids' haircuts are priced lower, but several stylists kept saying, "I have an appointment next" or "I'm busy." Eventually, one stylist agreed to cut my daughter's hair, and the front desk asked me to wait about 20 minutes for my son's haircut. I was perfectly happy to wait. However, the haircut itself was disappointing. Even my 8-year-old could tell it looked nothing like the reference photo we showed. He was just doing it the way he wanted despite I clearly told him what I wanted for my daughter's hair After waiting about 30 minutes while my daughter's haircut was being done, the front desk again asked if anyone could cut my son's hair. Once again, several stylists said they were busy or had customers. At that point I was frustrated and said, "That's okay, I don't need it anymore." What made it worse was that as I was leaving, I noticed a couple of stylists standing around without clients instead of helping with my son's haircut. I can honestly say that I've visited this salon three times, I tip generously, and I've never been picky. If you're considering this salon for children's haircuts, I would recommend looking elsewhere. In my experience, they do not seem to specialize in little boys' haircuts, and some of the staff are not particularly kid-friendly unless you already have a favorite stylist. Because of this experience, I don't think I'll be returning.

Besides, I mentioned I wanted to donate my hair rather than just cut it, and they were incredibly helpful. Alright, cool. I get it. I can respect a business owners decision as they have the right to turn down any services, I still tipped her 80$ for taking off my extensions for me not that I had a lot left on my hair. I'm not that kind of person. however again I really frkn wish she could've asked me these questions over the phone so I didn't have to waste my time driving back and forth. Probably the worst haircut I've ever had. I've been tying my hair and clipping the bangs up until it grows.

They exfoliated my skin, did red light therapy, and several other treatments (I honestly had my eyes closed most of the time because I was so relaxed!). She was friendly and made sure I felt at ease from the moment I walked in. Nancy was super professional and worked efficiently, but still took the time to listen to what I wanted and made great suggestions. I was impressed by how quickly and beautifully my hair turned out--exactly what I wanted! The salon itself is beautifully designed, clean, and comfortable, making the entire experience great.
