Frijolitos is unmissable. Everything on the menu is made from scratch, extremely flavorful and fresh. My partner and I no longer live in the city, but when we did we would order from Frijolitos weekly. When we visited the city recently and visited all our old haunts, we knew we HAD to go to Frijolitos! Our favorites are the crispy carnitas tacos (crispy chorizo is amazing too), all the tortas, and their homemade verde salsa. The quality of the meat has declined. The flavor is not there anymore, it used to be our Mexican spot before. We ordered a few times and it was a hot or miss. It has not been consistent with flavor. If I were to nitpick it'll be that my burrito could've had less rice and more chicken and if they had a Baja taco instead of tilapia. But I wouldn't be any more harsh on this amazing meal I had . The chicken burrito itself is one of the largest I've had and will pack a major punch so try to go on an empty stomach . The flavor though is so good with the seasonings and textures all complimenting each other . I did also ask for medium salsa so that added some as well . Will also add guacamole the next time . Love their burritos, ready quickly and always hot. Sodas are delicious, and prices can't be beat. They are willing to customize your burrito- I like less rice and more cheese, and my roommate prefers no sour cream. Their guac is delicious if you want to splurge a bit! There are very few places that make me wish there was a zero-star option on Yelp. This place is one of those places. There are places with bad food prep, meager meat portions, and low-quality ingredients. This place seems to cover all those bases. I ordered a plate that is named "Pollo Asado." In Spanish, that means "grilled chicken." So naturally, I expected to get that when my food was delivered. Instead, I got something completely different. There was little-to-no actual chicken in my pollo asado plate. What little there was, looked like the skin or ligament of the chicken. The rest of the food looked like rubbish. This was so bad, that I called UberEats and told them how this place misrepresented its food. They offered me a refund, and from there, I ordered from a place that serves actual quality food. I will never order from here again. I hope for their sake that they improve their food, and stop misrepresenting what they offer. read more

The food at Frijolito's is typically very good and reasonably priced, but our side of beans had a large piece of aluminum foil sitting right on top. We couldn't eat them, and this could have really hurt us had we not seen it. Very disappointing, and seems to be a concerning trend in some reviews here of foreign objects in the food. read more

The person who said the quality of meat has gone down was NOT kidding! We ordered chicken nachos, steak bowl and a chicken quesadilla and ALL THE MEAT TASTED OLD AND REHEATED!!!! My partner is a chef who confirmed what I stated above! When I contacted the establishment to find out exactly how old the meats were they completely denied it was old reheated meat. I came here for pickup and I must say it was really good and I enjoyed the food. We got the pozole and it has shredded pork and the flavor was good. The place was very busy so I do recommend you order ahead of time. I would definitely want to try their other items. I enjoyed the food and will definitely be back to order more food. Frijolito's- FriWhole Lot of Disappointment First off I would like to say this- the menu of offerings from Frijolito's looks amazing. They have range and diversity, not to mention plenty of options to customize your meal to your liking. That's where the fun times end. When the food arrived, it looked like someone had eaten out of it because the portions were so small! A $9 bowl had the equivalent of what I'd expect a $5 bowl to look like. When it arrived, it was in the shape of a brick, and pretty much everything stuck together. A $13 quesadilla came with three cut triangles of quesadilla, which when put together don't even make an entire circle. The guacamole was heavy and could've been made lighter with something slightly acidic. The food was meh, and I'd be more than willing to give Frijolito's another chance, but they should look at their portion sizes vs. price, as well as the quality. If you're going to argue a case of quality vs. quantity, at least make sure the quality is on par. As my friend put it: the quesadilla was okay, but so is Chipotle. read more

I spent majority of my life in Southern California and when I tell you that the search for great Mexican food in Manhattan has been a grueling one, I am not joking. Yes, there's lots of good places. But sometimes I miss the nights outside taco trucks in LA and really just want that taco that hits the spot in a soul-fulfilling way. This has been it. And it delivers to Washington Heights, which has sustained me and my bf in the 2 years we've lived there. The Carnitas tacos and vegetarian burritos are our mainstays. When he told me that I responded "just a moment please". There was no one behind me waiting on line and the kid didn't have the right to be rushing me. The owner's kid behavior was completely unacceptable because if customers go to a restaurant to buy anything, no one that's employed in any restaurant, is supposed to be rushing customers and when there was no one behind waiting on time. I ended up leaving the restaurant feeling happy that I didn't buy anything due to the kid's inappropriate behavior. I wasn't going give them any money from mine knowing that an employee is going showing sarcasm to a customer while they haven't even paid yet. Andeeven if the employer asks my money, I will be claiming for it back. I am writing this review so that customers can read about my experience and about the owner's kid behavior. No where that I go to buy food, I have experienced this problem. I hope that many people can read this review and realized that something is negative about this restaurant. Being a person that lives nearby and have ordered sometimes, definitely I won't be going to order any food from this restaurant ever again. My Boyfriend who doesn't not like his food too spicy said Bistec was good and he finished it all. My Mixiote was good too. I felt like Verde sauce was not spicy at first but it kicked me later. Best tacos in NYC! I order from Frijolito's pretty much every week on Uber Eats and they are so consistent, definitely the most reliable NYC restaurant relationship I have.
