My wife and I stopped here on the way home. We weren't too hungry, but it looked interesting. And we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a few appetizers to try some things that wouldn't be too filling. We thoroughly enjoyed everything that we tried. First of all, the flavor of the bean dip with the chips was phenomenal. They took something so simple and added great flavor to it. The ambiance was fantastic. I always enjoy being able to see the chefs make food for you right in front of you. The service was great. I absolutely want to return to try more menu options!

Reservations highly recommended. We got there waited about 10min before getting seated. Michael was our server who was awesome. We were a table of allergies and dietary requirements and Michael took great care of us. Restaurant is very nice. Great menu choices. Spicy margaritas were the best. Perfect amount of spiciness and variety of flavors to choose from. We had chicken quesadillas which was flavorful, Baja fish taco which was good just blend. Chicken enchiladas were mouth watering and the trio chips and salad are a must. We celebrated a birthday so got churros which came with chocolate and caramel sauce. Great ambience here and evening was perfect.

I went here for cinco de mayo and it was PACKED. Definitely a fun vibe though, I enjoyed the spirit. The servers were as attentive as they could be with a completely full house, and were nice. The drinks were great, and the spicy guac was awesome. I got the cinco de mayo special which wasn't cheap and I was pretty underwhelmed unfortunately. I kind of wish I went with one of the traditional things on their menu which looked really good from the folks next to me. It didn't have any sides or anything which I probably could have read on the menu but for $75 I thought it would have. All-in-all pretty good food, really fun atmosphere, great drinks.

I came here before an off Broadway show. I had the carne asada tacos con queso and a margarita. The tacos were tasty-the cheese really made the tacos...gave it some extra flavor. The house margarita was also good-solid drink. My issue is the price: $22 for two tacos and $16 for a margarita. Entirely too expensive for what it was. It should have been half the price. I have had better & less expensive tacos & margaritas in Jersey City! And no chips?! What the hell? Service was attentive. I would only recommend this restaurant for convenience ( ie Wicked next door)

I'd rate this place a 3.5 almost a 4 out of 5. The food tasted good and the service was generally solid, but nothing really stood out enough to make me want to come back. The tacos were fresh, and my sister absolutely loved them and thought they were the best part of the meal. The drinks were tasty as well. That said, we had a 7:30 reservation and still had to wait while other groups who arrived after us were seated first, which was confusing and a bit frustrating. To their credit, the staff was kind and offered us free shots for the wait, which was a nice gesture. Overall, it was a decent experience, a good spot for something casual and quick, however not particularly memorable for me If you want some fresh tacos, see them! I recommend the carne asada with cheese!

Wow - this Mexican fusion upscale experience is a must if you're in the area. We had a family celebration and decided to try this place before seeing a show and it didn't disappoint! First we had guacomole and ceviche as appetizers with their own house salsa which was delicious as well. I had tacos de suadero - braised beef tacos with a horseradish crema, onions, avocado and cilantro. Very delicious! We ordered a few sides to share - rice and beans and plantains. The plantains were cooked so well! Crispy and the perfect ripeness! I also got to sample some of the mashed potatoes that came with the carne asada - very good! Not something you usually see at a Mexican restaurant, but delicious! The service was excellent with a big party. We made a reservation and arrived early but they were able to accommodate us even without our full party. This was a great find - highly recommend this place!

Some unique dishes, but the execution was nothing special. The best dish we got was by far the Carnitas de Lechon plate. Also, the atmosphere is not pleasing; the place is dimly lit and seating is overly tight. Service is quite inattentive, though pretty timely. Would recommend going somewhere else in the area.

Fajitas, was expecting it to come out on sizzle pan, but my hubby liked it just fine. HUGE portion though.

I had the ceviche sampler as my main meal, it was great! 10/10 Chipotle guacamole was 7/10, not spicy enough Husband liked his GIANT fajitas

I came here for group dinner with some colleagues. I haven't heard of this place before until it was the location of the dinner. It was a preset menu, selected by one of the colleagues. I was really looking forward to trying their seafood paella but unfortunately, he didn't pick it as an entree. Darn you JS. Regardless, it was a 3-course dinner and I got the tartare as a started. The tuna was fresh and the soy marinade was really salty. The steak was amazing, but I didn't want the cheese enchilada. It somehow still ended up on my plate even though I explicitly asked for it not to be. Oh well. I just didn't eat it. The steak was really good- tender and grilled well. And for dessert it was a chocolate cake and churros shared family style. Honestly, I think I was the only one eating the dessert, or at least that's how I felt. The chocolate cake had these little chocolate pop-rocks on it that fizzled in your mouth and felt interesting. Overall, it was an excellent restaurant and I would return to try their paella.

Got here right as they opened at 11:30. Service is amazing. All the tacos look soo good . I had a hard time deciding . I ended up getting the suadero (beer braised brisket) which was incredible . So tender, great flavor. And I'm a person who typically doesn't go for corn tortillas. I was very apprehensive but these were greeaaattt!! I then got the calabacita ( zucchini veggie) tacos and whew I was wowed by the amount of flavor and spice there! Sooo incredible! Highly highly recc . While I enjoyed the Guac trio , I don't think it's necessary. I couldn't really taste any major difference between two of the three. My favorite and the one with the most distinct flavor is the Frutas which has pomegranate and mango. That is the one I recc. The choc dessert was a bit dense but I loved the incorporation of the pop rocks. Overall I will definitely be back. It quickly got crowded so reservations ahead of time are a must!

Before heading to see Sunset BLVD, we stopped for dinner at Toloache on West 50th and wow, it did not disappoint. The vibe was lively, the staff were friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the Trio de Guacamoles (highly recommend if you love variety and a little spice), and tried both the red and white sangria. For tacos, we went all out and tried the Birria y Consomé, Langosta (lobster), Camarón (shrimp), Pollo, and Carne Asada. Every single one was flavorful and well-balanced, but the birria and lobster were definite standouts. Also a big plus: they have gluten-free options, which made it even easier to enjoy everything without stress. Toloache is the perfect pre-show dinner spot with great food, solid drinks, and an overall fun atmosphere. Definitely adding it to the repeat list!

Came here to celebrate my anniversary and made reservations for 5pm and were promptly sat. We started with toloache margaritas and the ceviche tasting and got the sushi ceviche, tuna, taco and yellowtail ceviches. The ceviche's didn't really look like how most ceviches really look but didn't take away from the taste at all. The sushi ceviche was the absolute best and served warm. We also got short rib and spicy lobster tacos. They were really good except I got a a couple of fairly large pieces of shell in my lobster taco which threw me off of finishing it - but my first bite of it was very good! For dessert we got the flan and the tres leches. The desserts might have been the highlight of the meal for me. They didn't do anything for our anniversary, however. Overall a really good experience with the exception of the shell in the tacos.

My son and I had a late lunch, and as always, this restaurant serves up the most authentic Mexican dishes in Midtown Manhattan. It is conveniently located in the theater district and near bulge bracket investment banks. I ordered my "go-to", which is the huitlacoche quesadilla, and my son ordered the traditional guacamole along with the enchiladas borrachas. Delicious! In addition, the service is always friendly, respectful, and goes above and beyond.

Does the 50th location BAR get crowded after shows at night? Looking for a place to stop in for a drink after Wicked.

I went on a Friday night at 8:30pm and there was a good amount of people but it wasn't crowded. They have a second floor as well so plenty of room.

Do they do gift certificates? Tried emailing but no response.

Yes they do! They can issue e-giftcards :)

Do they ID for alcohol drinks?

99% of the places in NYC ID for alcoholic drinks... a restaurant could lose their liquor license if they don't

Do they have brunch or bottomless drinks?

Not at the midtown location. I believe their downtown does.

    Do they have live music?

Not when we were there, and I'm not sure where they'd put it, the place is pretty packed

    Do they have vegan options?

Guacamole is vegan I suppose? Their menu is posted online: http://toloachenyc.com/mobile/menus.html

    Do they play music?

Not that I can recall. Some people outside will play from their phones.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
