I got in several minutes before my appointment and had to wait another 20-30 minutes to actually be taken in. All of the staff were friendly and social, although they tend to throw out compliments perhaps a little too insincerely or unjustifiably (but what salon does that not happen at?). The hairstylist who cut my hair was very sweet and kept the whole experience quite pleasant. Since what I wanted (only about 1/4 inch trimmed from the bottom of my fairly straight hair) did not require a lot of technical skills, I cannot comment on her ability to manage more complicated haircuts. I was also a little alarmed that my hairstylist did not seem to understand the importance of periodically trimming ends of hair so as to remove the dried out and split-end hairs. I was charged $25 for a simple trim with no wash or dry. I think that is a little steep considering what she did, but still my haircut was even on the bottom and overall fine. Overall, I would call this establishment mediocre.

I should have left as soon as she began combing my hair (my afro) dry. I have very kinky hair, and Sheila was especially rough and it even hurt. Didn't section it or anything. Just combed through it and pulled and tugged and ripped at it. In retrospect, I certainly should have said something. I believe she used way too much heat on my hair (a hot comb on my edges??), she said she would trim it ("half an inch"), but ended up giving me layers without my consent and even my mother noticed how noticeably shorter it was. I'm all for health over length, but don't give me something I didn't agree to. She nipped my ear and got my the scalp around my edges with the flat iron, so when I got back home, it was sore and red. Not only that, but I left with so much dry skin on my scalp as well. So it's basically like I went through all that just for my hair to be dirty, and it's more apparent because my hair is dark, and now, straight. I don't believe she knew how to handle my kinky, Type 4 hair, because if so, she would have known that my hair type needs to be handled gently. I have been to places who give the utmost TLC to my tresses, so I was truly appalled with the way she handled my hair. My hair is thick, but it is very fine and prone to breakage, so obviously being rough with it will only exacerbate my issues. Asides from that, she was nice, and I (hopefully) don't think I suffered any heat damage, by the grace of God. Totally dissatisfied and disappointed and this is honestly the reason I won't be visiting a salon anytime soon.

There wasn't much talking so but they were courteous and the receptionist is always nice when i've come in. They braided my hair pretty quickly. It only took about 4/4.5 hours for them all the way to my butt. It started with four people, then went down to three then to two. Some of the braiders braided pretty tight and i had to ask them to be a little more gentle, but it did not hurt much after outside of just being stiff until they fell. I loved everything about it except for now my boho pieces are randomly falling out, so I think they should do a better job at securing the Boho pieces when braiding.
