I have been going to Fringe for as long as I can remember and have specifically had Felicia as my stylist for the past several years. I can honestly say no one does color better than Felicia! After moving to the city and trialing a new stylist who was closer to home, I quickly learned that good hair is worth the 45 minute drive out to Fringe! Felicia consistently makes my blonde hair look both natural, fresh, and bright. She is up to date with all of the latest techniques and has always followed through with exactly what I've asked for. I had an excellent experience at Fringe. McKenzie exceeded my expectations. During the pandemic, I waited too long to get my hair done. I got a balayage and cut. McKenzie was able to lift the previous black dye from my hair and color it a vibrant red. I'm in love with my new hair. Highly recommend to friends and family. Also, the salon did an excellent job sanitizing and keeping clients spaced out. When I walked in, they provided hand sanitizer and took my temperature. Everyone was wearing a mask. I loved my experience at Fringe! We were a wedding party of 10 and they were able to get us in and out in less than 3 hours! I was really impressed by the speed and talent of the staff. They have an upstairs space that we had to ourselves. They take your temperature before enter and all staff were following safety procedures. They clean the booths very thoroughly before the next customer uses it. I don't live in Lombard, but would definitely recommend Fringe for your wedding day. read more

I have been overdue for a new look when the pandemic hit and I patiently waited and booked an appointment for a cut and balayage with McKenzie. It was absolutely worth the wait! McKenzie did an amazing job bringing life to my hair and I couldn't be happier! The team at Fringe also did a great job of keeping the salon clean and sanitized during my visit there. I was constantly noticing the staff walking around sanitizing chairs and stations as well as refilling hand sanitizer. Everyone was wearing masks and clients were spaced out. Been going to Janelle since this salon opened and could not be happier. This salon has the deva curl system and product which I think has helped my hair over the years. Treat yourself to a facial upstairs and you will not be sorry. Always such a pleasure to spend time pampering myself. This is an adorable salon where you feel pampered the second you walk through the door. It is on the main strip of downtown Lombard, very near to the train station. It has an awesome loft feel to the shop, and is very reasonably-priced for the service that you get as well! They offer a variety of services, but I went there for a haircut with Delilah and loved the experience. If you are a new client, they have lots of great coupons so that you can try them out. You get a welcome kit for your first visit, and it contains coupons for your next 3 visits so you can get a good feel for the place. And if you have friends looking for a new stylist, you get $20 referral bonus AND they get $20 off their first visit too! When you get a trim, it includes the shampoo and an awesome scalp massage so you can really relax and enjoy. The products they use left my hair feeling soft and amazing, and I loved the cut! Delilah really took the time to listen to what I was going for and I felt did a fantastic job. You could tell she really paid attention to every detail during the trim to make sure it was just right, and then she styled it for me and showed me a ton of tricks to get it to look cute at home too, as well as an awesome new product I'm already loving (and which they gave me a coupon for too!). I'm very low maintenance and don't like to spend a lot of money on myself- the one exception is allowing Ms Felicia to do my hair. She is amazing with color and she listens to you and what you want. She isn't pushy at all and wants to do her best for you. You know she is good because every time I go there she is mentoring new stylists. She does amazing work and I've always walked out overjoyed. I have a lot of hair so it takes awhile but it breezes by with her- she is so fun to talk to and has such great energy- I've seen the other stylists do work too and my goodness they are all so talented. I go to Fringe for Deva Cuts and balayage color and I'd definitely recommend it. I have 3b curls and haven't always had luck with people cutting it, but Jen does a great job, especially matching the pictures I bring in. One time I wanted something changed slightly after a cut, and Jen was happy to make that happen. They're very accommodating. I get so many compliments on my cut and color after going to Fringe. I also love that they're a zero-waste salon, conveniently located, nice atmosphere, and they have yummy baked goods :) One suggestion: book in advance, as Deva cuts book up fast! read more

So, I kinda cheat on my regular hairstylist (who happens to be my friend) with Kelsie. I was referred to Fringe (by Robin) and I'm so glad I found this little gem! Kelsie takes the time to listen to what I'd like, offer suggestions, and seems methodical about her craft. I always leave happy because she gets it right every time. The only downside is that I have to come up with excuses when I actually do see my friend! The salon itself is very warm and welcoming and the staff are super friendly! The prices are competitive. I moved to the area not too long ago and decided to try out Fringe based on the good reviews, even though none of them were very recent. It was so easy to schedule an appointment on the website and add in comments about what kind of service/ hair style I was looking for! I wasn't familiar with any of the stylists so I just requested the first available for the day and time I was looking for. I got a message not too long after saying I would be put with a different stylist who would better suit the service I was looking for- great! They even offered to fit me in sooner but unfortunately I was unavailable. Upon checking in I got a nice little welcome package with a coupon I could even use that day! Kelsie was my stylist and she knew exactly what to do with my brassy blonde bayalage that I was tired of trying to maintain and explained how we could start to get back to my natural color for less future maintenance- my wishes exactly! Not a great experience. I paid $95 (before tip) for a "deva cut and transformation" that was nowhere near worth the cost! I've been to Penny Lane in Chicago many times but was looking for somewhere closer to home in the western burbs. I looked at Fringe's website and reviews and thought that they looked like they knew how to work with curls so I was excited. I do know what a real deva cut and style is, as I've been to Penny Lane many times before. I went through the whole process with Fringe of sending in photos and spoke with someone to go over what I wanted. So far so good. But when I got there with my hair in it's curly state as requested, the dry cut was only about 15 minutes! I hadn't had my hair cut for awhile so I think it should've taken a bit longer to make sure it was cut evenly and with each curl - isn't that why you pay so much more for the Deva cut process?! Next I went through the deva shampoo/condition process and I asked lots of questions. Most weren't answered as knowledgeably as I would've liked. Mind you, I've really researched curly hair and all the latest curly processes online, as I'm trying to bring out my best curls through the cut and styling process. The stylist at Fringe only knew the basic Deva info that I learned 8 years ago. I had made it clear from my phone conversation when booking that I don't use Deva products but wanted a thorough tutorial to refresh my memory of the curly girl process. After scrunching the products in, I was set under a dryer for 45 minutes. Alone. No scrunching, no clips, no upside down adjustments for body, no diffusing to "scrunch" in more curl as it dries. Well I coulda done that myself at home. Actually I do more styling at home! The end result was hair looked barely wavy and flat. The stylist even said that it wasn't anywhere near as curly as when I came in! I was so disappointed I didn't know what to say. I was hoping to get good information about styling my hair to bring out the curls, but what I got was heavy hair from too much products, less curls and no new styling help. I'm very disappointed and won't be paying for another deva cut from Fringe. I'd recommend Penny Lane in a heartbeat. Looks like I'll be going back into the city for my curly hair cuts! read more

I've had a great experience at this salon. My stylist Jen completely transformed my curls. I've been in and out of different salons only to get the same bad results! With the use of deva curl products and Jens professional help I am able to have my curls back to life and be able to color with minimal damage! Definitely recommend for curly hair! Be careful. They overbook and if you are 15 mins late they charge you 25. Stylist told me one start time. Hair salon had me down for 15 mins earlier. So many other salons in area to try and with friendliness and kindness from start to finish. To fringe's response that I choose not to stay. I did stay. I paid for color and late fee. I know I've waited for appointments with them so I hope if others have to wait they get 25 off their service. As everyone's time is valuable not just the double booked stylist. And my other cancellation mentioned was due to a medically fragile child. read more

Nichole ( Nick) did my hair for a wedding I was going to. I wanted a simple blowout, maybe some waves... I came out looking like a drowned mermaid. I'm too embarrassed to post the actual picture of how I looked, but when I sent the picture to my friend she said I looked like I had just gotten out of the shower and towel dried my hair. I specified I have very thin hair, and would require some kind of product to lift it. Nichole put some greasy product in that made my hair limp and wet looking. She was obviously not very experienced and I had to wash my hair and do it myself before leaving for the wedding. I wouldn't recommend this stylist. read more

I made an appointment at this salon based on the positive reviews I read. My experience was better than expected. I made the appointment online, and received a quick response and answered some questions they had about my hair. I actually went in for a cut and perm, so it was a long appointment, about 4 hours. My stylist Jen was great. She took her time making sure everything was done correctly, did a great perm and cut, and didn't make me feel like I had to purchase products (which made me want to try some new products, which I purchased) Customer service was top-notch. They offered coffee or water, the staff was friendly to all the customers, they try to make sure you have everything you need. The free wi-fi was helpful while waiting for the processing, and gave my daughter something to do while she waited. The prices for services were fair, not outrageous like some other salons I have been to. I will definitely be back, and will recommend Fringe to others. read more

This place was a life saver!! After a horrible horrible experience with a nearby hair salon Fringe saved my daughters prom night. She had an appointment for a makeup application at 2pm (which we were late to because the place we were at before didn't see us until an hour later past our scheduled time). The fact that it was prom night and Fringe was able to still see us 10 minutes late was the first positive experience! Not only was the staff super super friendly but they did an amazing job with my daughters makeup! Nicolette was very polite and after we explained my daughters horrible experience, she assured us she would help us out and fix my daughters hair as best as they could. Thank you Nicollete for doing an amazing job on my daughters makeup! The next positive thing was that they were able to squeeze her in for hair, on prom night!
