This place was a life saver!! After a horrible horrible experience with a nearby hair salon Fringe saved my daughters prom night. She had an appointment for a makeup application at 2pm (which we were late to because the place we were at before didn't see us until an hour later past our scheduled time). The fact that it was prom night and Fringe was able to still see us 10 minutes late was the first positive experience! Not only was the staff super super friendly but they did an amazing job with my daughters makeup! Nicolette was very polite and after we explained my daughters horrible experience, she assured us she would help us out and fix my daughters hair as best as they could. Thank you Nicollete for doing an amazing job on my daughters makeup! The next positive thing was that they were able to squeeze her in for hair, on prom night! I stumbled upon this place as I was trying to find a salon open on a Monday for a blowout. Well this place was great. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful and my stylist Christina styled my hair exactly as I requested. I'm only sorry that I don't live in the area so I can go back again soon. This salon is run like a well oiled machine, made in Japan, that's sold in Costco lol. I have never in my life been to any establishment that is as well organized as the hair salon. I had such a thorough color consultation and such a perfected application. I literally couldn't find one thing wrong even if I tried. Anywhere I go, service is half the battle and Felicia did fabulous. The other half that I'm always on the lookout for, is the vibe and flow and I am completely impressed with how everyone gets along and helps each other out! My stylist Jamie always genuinely takes time to see where my needs are for my hair and what I'd like to do. I have been so happy with my cut and color. I leave smiling every time! I go to see Jamie at this salon and she is awesome! I have very thick, unruly hair and she is one of the few stylist I have ever had that can cut it correctly! The salon is beautiful, comfortable, and the entire staff is friendly and accommodating. It is mostly appointment based but I never have much trouble making an appointment with short notice. I enjoyed my experience while I was there but noticed less than two weeks later that my roots were extremely noticeable, as if it had been six weeks rather than ten days. When I looked back at a picture I took in the mirror that day, you could see the roots even then! When I called they suggested I come in and speak to the person who had done my hair in the first place . Obviously I wanted to see someone else to fix my hair and it was as if that was the craziest idea ever. I did stop in and received more bad vibes -- the feeling I got was that the ladies at the front desk thought it was my fault, that I had miscommunicated what I wanted. I still went ahead and made an appointment to have it fixed, but when I got a chilly phone call to confirm I decided that I didn't want to spend over an hour in a place where I felt like a pariah. Twice in thirty years I have had unfortunate hair cuts and each time when I called the salon they were very eager to fix the problem and keep my business, which they did. This was a bad experience all around -- hair that was colored improperly in the first place, then clumsy customer service that made me feel like I was a problem customer who everyone wished would just go away. read more

I found this little gem here on yelp and decided to go in after all the positive reviews. From the second you walk in you are greeted with smiles and are offered some coffee or water! You also get a little goodie starter bag with coupons and samples. So cute! I had my appointment with Delylah, such a sweet girl who knows her stuff! She taught me so much while washing my hair and informed me of the devacurl products. She was very attentive on what I was asking and gave me the exact cut I asked for which turned out great! At the end of my appointment she showed me the products which she used in my hair and I had the option of purchasing some. There was no pressure to purchase anything which was great because I have felt pressured into buying hair products at previous salons and never end up using the products! I want to give a quick shout out to the sweetest receptionist I've encountered so far! She was so nice and welcoming and when she saw my goodie bag came with a sample that I would not be able to use on my hair she quickly replaced it with one that would be worth it! They were a one time find. The 2nd time I went there, the stylist did the opposite of what I asked and thinned my hair & made it look like I'm 20 years older than my age. Same stylist, too. Left me in tears and didn't make much of an effort to fix it other than trying to have me go to the same stylist and have the same stylist call me - who did not have an ounce of an apology in her voice. I really love Fringe. I've been here three times now for a Deva cut and each time I've enjoyed my experience. The interior is comfortable and well maintained and the staff is quick to offer you water or coffee. As far as the Deva cut, I can't say enough good things. This place is SPECTACULAR!!! Every stylist I have encountered there is beyond wonderful -- I have been there three times in the last month, once for a balayage and cut on my own hair and just yesterday for my daughters to get fancy up-dos for their prom. We used McKenzie and Jen and I cannot begin to describe how amazing my daughters' hair looked when they were done! My daughters brought in pictures of what they wanted and these ladies absolutely went above and beyond to make their dream hairstyles a reality. McKenzie also did my hair and I absolutely LOVE IT! She took my hair from drab to the most beautiful blonde that isn't brassy or too ashy -- it is the absolute best color I could have ever asked for. This is definitely going to be my new salon -- I used to travel for my old salon and thought I would try out something new in my area and I could not be happier!!! Exceptional customer service from beginning to end and the stylists and reception staff are all so friendly, whether they are working on you or not, it's like hanging out with old friends even though you just met them :) Five stars isn't enough!!! read more

3 Stars for the very pretty place. Went there for the first time because they use Goldwell products which I had used on my hair in Arizona and loved. And had a cut but the cut is not so great at all. Wanted layers but disappointed they are very choppy. My sides are a lot shorter than the side and back and just don't like it at all. Too bad was hoping to have found a new place. It will take me a while to grow out the sides. Disappointed and not happy as it will take months to grow this out. And even the color is lacking now. Not sure why I just had highlights put in and now they are not as noticeable. I touch up all the time and never had that happen. I usually like it. Can't say I will be going back. At this point in my life I don't need a bad haircut. read more

This was my first visit to Fringe...definitely not my last. I was scheduled for a haircut. It was a great experience from my first step inside to my exit. Raquel at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. I was offered something to drink. My stylist, Toni was ready to take me immediately. She spent time learning what I liked and didn't like about my current cut. She listened to me and offered her suggestions on my haircut. She took me to the shampoo area with the most comfortable chair. I had gone to a salon on the Gold Coast for years and was devastated when my stylist suddenly relocated out of state. Since that time I have searched for over 10 years to find someone that understood what I wanted for my hair. I have tried more than 20 stylists in the past 10 years because I could never say I loved my haircut when I left the salon. Toni, immediately recognized what was wrong with my cut that wasn't allowing me to achieve the style I wanted. The way Toni cut my hair is exactly what I had been searching for all these years. When I left the salon, I LOVED how my hair looked and felt. It was exactly what I was searching for. Typically, I can never duplicate the salon style when I do it myself. The cut was so perfect that I was able to duplicate the look and feel I had leaving the salon. I have to say this is the first haircut I have LOVED in more than 10 years. THANK YOU, TONI!!!! Thank you, fellow Yelpsters! I found Fringe on the DevaCurl website and after reading the positive reviews here, decided to book an appointment for a DevaCut for curly hair. In order to prepare for my appointment, they called and asked me some preliminary questions and even had me send a few photos of my hair so that they knew what they were dealing with. First time that's ever happened. Everyone was so welcoming, and a a new client I received a welcome packet with product samples and coupons. Felicia did a great job on my cut. It's one of the few times that I haven't had to go home and re-wash my hair because they just didn't get it. I could walk out and go on with my day, feeling confident that I looked much better than when I walked in. Wish I lived closer so that I could take advantage of more of their services. But I will definitely be returning for my next cut! read more

I went to this salon after relocating to the suburbs from downtown Chicago. It had great reviews and a cute atmosphere. I saw Felicia. I explained that I wanted my hair cut above my shoulders with long layers. I also said I needed to be able to tie it up and still be able to wear it curly, as I have very curly hair. Felicia did not listen to me at all and gave me the WORST haircut I have ever had. I still tear up when I look in the mirror. It is a blunt bob to my chin. As she cut it, I asked why she was going so short and she somewhat ignored me, saying that when it was curly it would just be a little shorter. Clearly, she did not look at my hair during the consult, as I have a tight spiral curl. Now, my hair looks like a bowl when it is curly. I also asked her why she didn't leave it long enough for me to tie up, which I specifically requested. She looked at my dumbly and said "well, it is a baby pony tail." Funny, I do not recall requesting a baby ponytail. I am not Pebbles from the Flintstones. As she dried it, I pointed out that it was a child's bob and she said once it was dry she would cut the weight out of it. Great, that does not change the fact that it is a child's cut with no depth or layering. Felicia could tell that I was unhappy, but instead of asking how I would like it fixed, she rushed me out of her chair and moved on to her next client. It is really pathetic. To add insult to injury, the owner of the salon, Michelle called later that night to ask if she could rerun my payment because something went wrong with the credit card processing. This means that I would have had to have 2 pending authorizations on my debit card for 2-5 business days. I declined and said I would wait until the pending authorization was removed and Michelle said she would call me on Thursday to rerun my card. No apology for the awful cut and terrible experience. Super Modern and Stylish ambiance...... upon arrival I was greeted and offered a beverage (yaaaaas....wine) while I waited for my stylist to wrap up (i arrived few minutes early)..... Stylist (Elaine ....who was AWESOME) was very informative and offered a solid professional opinion on the picture I brought in. She even offered tips to use at home due to my hard water/well situation. The salon offered perks for being a 1st time clients, as well as coupons for my 2nd and 3rd visit. I received an ombre color (goldwell) and superb cut. My blow out was perfect, which was impressive since I have curly hair... The conditioning treatment was well worth it...... I will most definitely be back.... scheduled my 2nd appointment that day to secure a slot with Elaine. The bride decided to give our hair and make up services to this salon. We had a private area on the second floor. It was very cute and roomy. The make up artists were fantastic. I, unfortunately, have to give this salon a single star (solely for the make up artists) because of the store owner, Michele. She was very pleasant and attentive to all of us girls, however, when it came to how you wanted your hair, that is where there were problems. I am someone who is slightly anal and controlling person when it comes to my hair and like to be involved. I understand this could be frustrating to the stylist and do not want to step on toes, but I will be vocal on what I want. As Michele is doing my hair and I was mentioning how I wanted the style she stopped and sternly told me I "needed to let them be artist" in front of her employees and other bridesmaids. Needless to say, that was awkward and completely unprofessional. I do not think scolding your paying client in front of your employees is great traits for them to witness. It was completely inappropriate and made a paying client feel extremely uncomfortable. I am paying you to do my hair how I want it...not for you to make "art". I will not be coming back to this salon again and will be warning others because of the rudeness I experienced. After she left and I was discussing fixing the mess of an updo, one of the lovely stylists offered to help, which she did and it turned out much better. Please do not go around trying to belittle your paying clients. It is completely inappropriate and unprofessional and you should be embarrassed to talk to a client in front of your employees, owner or not. read more

I LOVE this place ! It was the day of my birthday, and I got a phone call the night before saying that my updo, at a different salon, was double booked and they decided to tell me I can't do anything about it. I was pretty upset about it that I called my friend and told him about my situation and every place I tried was booked up. He some how was able to book a morning appointment for me the next day. I was so shocked because, let's be honest, guys do not know anything about hair. I was really glad he got me an appointment. The next day, I went into the salon. I was greeted by Michelle who was very nice! And then I got my hair done so nice I had to take a million selfies to show how amazing my hair looked! I have been going to Elaine for several years and am always pretty ecstatic about the results. It's her service, level of skill and knowledge. She knows what she is doing. Each stylist has her own specialty, and they share practices with each other. The place is immaculate, comfortable and accommodating. Service and product prices are relatively low compared to other boutique salons. Customer service, especially from Raquel and Maria, are second to none. When I ventured into eyebrow waxing and tinting, it was another helping of 'feel good' to the Fringe experience. Who knew waxing could make you feel pampered? It does here. Today, for the first time, I experienced a custom blended facial in the newly remodeled upstairs spa with Kim. It was the ultimate icing on the cake. You walk upstairs, and it's like you are transported to tranquility. Kim has an amazing touch with amazing products, and she gives you a leg and foot massage while your pores are steamed! I could definitely afford, and get used to, a facial every 6 weeks. Bravo Fringe! You are the go-to salon and spa that every woman in the area should experience. read more

These gals are MIRACLE workers! My 2 daughters have super curly hair. My 12 year old came in with her hair in a HUGE knot. They were able to detangle some of it, all hands on deck, (literally 4 stylists at a time) one was holding her hand. They showed so much compassion. We came back for a cut, which I imagined would have to shaving her head. I saw no other way around it. They saved her hair and its even long enough for a pony tail. She makes it a priority for all of her staff to be up to date on the latest trends and styles. They have this cool color bar area, so you are guaranteed to always get a great color. The salon is located in a great little area of downtown Lombard and is easy access. They also have full service make-up artist.
