got to finally try these guys first hand after hearing a lot of good reviews by word of mouth from friends! these guys don't disappoint! their ice is really soft and is easy to scoop with a spoon, it melts right in your mouth and the portion is very generous for the price. the best part has to be the syrup though don't skimp at all. the last bite tastes just as good as the first! thoroughly enjoyed it guys, keep up the good work and i am looking forward to trying mango! read more

So excited to find a great snow cone place in my neighborhood! I saw this place for the first time today and immediately had to stop and get one. I had the natural mango flavor/pina colada half and half and both were excellent, although I liked the natural mango the best. It's fresh mango pulp with enough simple syrup to make it liquid, and it's much better than the usual artificial fruit flavor snow cones. The owner was really friendly and chatted with us about some other new flavors he's going to try out. Pineapple jalapeño and strawberry basil both sound good to me! The ice was shaved really fine and was super fluffy, and the prices were good. I'll definitely be back to try the new "experimental flavors soon! read more

So after waiting hours in line for a cone at Mam's, I thought there has to be another place to get yummy shaved ice. Luckily I found Texas Blizzard on Yelp! I'm a converted fan now. This place has Hawaiian style shaved ice, which is a little more fluffier than New Orleans style and it's also less syrupy, thankfully. I had the watermelon and mango natural flavors with condensed milk. Wow! So delicious and they didn't have the crazy bright artifical colors that some flavors do. They give you so much more than the other place does, too. No line, quick service, better value... Texas Blizzard is the clear winner in my book. Definitely try the exotic toppings. There's this salted plum which is popular amongst Asian and it's amazing on shaved ice. Like everyone else, I also agree, the NATURAL mango is the best flavor. The chili and the tamarin sauce is the best combo you can get. Order a small to spilt amongst two people, that way you can eat it all up before it gets melted and unappetizing, which happens in seconds. read more

OMG!!! The first time I had this was White Linen Night in the Heights!!! It was DIVINE,, I simply LOVE good soft shaved ice, with natural flavors and the Texas Size servings are a PLUS. Ok so I went back to give them another try and wowsaaas... they did good. They told me to try it in the Hawaiian cup (and I obliged) and then they convinced me to try the natural strawberry (which I did) and it was delish. It looked like a giant thing of cotton candy but it was shaved ice and the natural syrup was really good... totally different than a regular snow cone - - not too too sweet and really refreshing. This visit changed my opinion of these guys. They are a new company so it is reasonable for the first visit to be a lil off but if the rest of my visits are like this last... I will be super happy. My family and I love this place!!! By FAR much better than Mams. We will never go back to Mams as it always takes 40 minutes just to get a snoball, they very rarely have any natural flavors (when they do it's only 1 and it's not even good), they think their snowballs are the best and charge way too much. If you want natural you pay nearly double for a snoball which is absolutely ridiculous. However, Texas Blizzard mirrored the original Hawaiian Shaved Ice based out of Kauai, Hawaii and does a great job. Their natural flavors are hand made daily and they are always trying something new. Mango is by far my favorite but they are all good. They have NATURAL blueberry, strawberry, jalepeno lemonade, watermelon, grape, chocolate, pineapple, and others. They are always coming up with something new. They like suggestions also. Another plus over MAMS is their customer service which they definitely have AAA. They even have specials, happy hour, and punch card. Once you get 10 you get a free one. MAMS just laughs when you ask about specials or punch card. Again, they think they have the best. Try this place and you will not be going back to Mams. Especially, if you try their natural. Heck try them all... They will give you a tester unlike MAMS. read more

I couldn't say I've ever had a snow cone like this one before. A lot of places ruin the whole idea of a snow cone. And these guys have managed to perfect it. I had the large natural mango flavored one and I must say that it was more than enough for two people and the taste was good. A bit pricey but well worth it. Had the fresh Mango Shaved Ice during Free Press Summer Fest Festival 2013 and as I recall it (and crave it immensely now) was divine. The soft shaved ice melted ever so sweetly in my mouth and I felt like I tasted a bit of heaven. Scorching hot weather and cold shaved ice are one of the best combos humankind has ever created. This is definitely better than the other snow cone truck in the area! The ice is nice a fluffy, and they have plenty of flavors to choose from. I especially like the natural strawberry flavor, it is awesome. The part that gives them an edge over the other local snow cone truck is that they are much faster, I can usually get in and have my cone within a few minutes even when there is a line. read more

The good: Delicious shaved ice. I had one with two flavors, Tigers Blood and Key Lime Pie, and both were refreshing and good. Also, I love that there are food trucks in the museum district. The not so good: despite only one order in front of mine (for two snow cones) and no one else around it took much longer than the quoted 2 minutes to get my snow cone. Much longer. And while I was waiting for my snow cone the staff didn't seem particularly concerned that I was waiting at all. Then they decided to turn on the external sound system while my family and I were standing there and nearly blew our eardrums out and terrified my dog without any regard or apologies. At the risk of sounding old, the music was entirely too loud. Also I think $4.50 plus tax for a snow cone is too much. It's water and sugar. read more

Was really excited to try a snow cone from this place, so I checked their Facebook to see what location they would be at today and decided to walk from my apartment down the bayou since I still had plenty of time. When I finally got to the location, the guy working the truck had already closed, which was 25-30 minutes sooner than their advertised closing time. The wait was 8-10 minutes but it was very worth it. There was a lot of people standing around and I thought it was a line however you walk up to the window, place an order, give them your name, pay and wait to be called. The parking lot is fairly small and since its packed you have to be careful where to park. Perfect for a hot Houston day! I tried Texas Blizzard during the Houston Symphony's Free Day of Music. Throughout the day, this truck was by far the most crowded-and for good reason. The portion sizes are so huge that you forget that you're paying seven bucks for a big pile of ice. And once you eat it...perfection. The ice is so wonderfully fluffy, and holds the flavor perfectly. Just went on Sunday and had to go back again yesterday for some more! ...So far Tiger's Blood (coconut and cherry), watermelon, wedding cake and the natural mango have been some flavors we have tasted...all good and all so worth it. I've hit this spot up several times after biking around Allen parkway. Initially, I expected your run of the mil snow cone but I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty friohana was. The ice is super soft and the syrup is not overly sweet. My go to flavor is natural strawberry with cream. I'm looking forward to trying natural mango next. read more

Best snow cone I've ever had! I really like the consistency of their shaved ice. It is much lighter and "fluffier" in comparison to other places. To me, it's better than crunching on crystals of ice. The flavors are awesome, I really like the natural Mango. My husband had the Tiger's Blood which is his fav, and it definitely didn't disappoint! Even my dog liked it!
