    2025 Houston restaurant week
    Suelynn N.

We came here for Houston restaurant week for their dinner menu. Our waiter was nice and checked on us a few times. Our table was steady and clean. They added another table to our table bc the Houston restaurant week set was a lot of food. We had an assortment of vegetables and takoyaki as our first course. Our second course was pork, cutlet, and tofu salad. Our third course was sukiyaki kazzan (+$4) and curry rice. Our fourth course or desserts was, matcha tiramisu and ice kazzan (+$4). Overall the food was average but for $39 (except for the two upgrades) per person for a four course meal is an amazing deal. The food was very filling and we actually skipped out heading to the bars afterwards because we were so full. What makes this place a bit more different than others was that they give you a side of rice to eat with your leftover soup at the end of your clay pot entree. Since it's in a clay pot, the dish stays warmer longer. Plus, the visual effects of steam or dry ice smoke depending on what items you ordered. If I were to do this again, i would not do the tofu salad because their pork cutlet came with a small side salad already. If I had known that, I would had gotten that instead. Haha. And stick with the matcha tiramisu. The ice kazzan wasn't that great. I think the hype was from the dry ice used for a dish effect. The curry rice was more soupy than curry. The curry was very thin, liquid wise. Parking is free and out front.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't busy at all so we were sat as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was an older woman and she was very nice, she answered all the questions we had about the menu. We started off with the Fried Chicken Wings and Spicy Creamy Shrimp. I'd say skip the shrimp and order the wings! They were fantastic, the sauce is delicious. The shrimp was good too just basic. For ramen I ordered the Tantán ramen, the flavor was good but it was way too thick and barely had any broth. I got tired of it very quickly. My sister ordered the Karamiso and I think that was by far the better ramen. I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking this place out if you're in the area.

My 1st time here and i was surprise that the food was quite food. I didn't try ramen bcoz there r other options that other ramen places in town dont have it and it turn out to be good. The only thing was the service was extremely slow. The whole restaurant was empty and only 1 other table of 2 people. But it took over 25min to serve appertizer Then we had to wait 10min after we asked for our check. Not sure what happened but all of that should be avoidable. Good thing was the food was good :)

Stopped by for dinner with my family of 4 on a Sunday evening to try their HRW menu. We were seated right away and then the server came and explained the options which are plenty!! We placed our order with the server and then waited and waited and waited. Chris Brown's greatest hits were in a constant loop being played in the restaurant was entertaining. The restaurant was not too busy, but we did notice our server was also bartending. Finally after 50 minutes of waiting only person in the party first two courses arrived together. I asked why was it taking so long and they stated the kitchen was backed up. Eventually everyone's orders came out and everything was delicious. The long wait really ruined the experience for me because the food was great.

Plenty of parking outside. Love the decor on the inside. Staff were friendly. We ordered an appetizer that had chicken karage, octopus with fish flakes, and edemame. We also ordered the kazzan ramen with beef and sukiyaki broth. The presentation was fun, they place a cone shaped piece on top of your bowl as the steam comes out the spout it looks like a volcano. They mix it up for you, it was plenty to share with my bf. The broth was flavorful slightly sweet. Overall the food was tasty. Ordered the mochi ice cream in mango and strawberry, it was a nice way to calm that sweet tooth of mine. They also have shaved ice with ice cream. If you like ramen you should give this place a try!

Ramen, that's a nice little addition to the Heights area. This area is full of fast food places and dessert places as well. It's nice to have something warm and cozy in this neighborhood. Ramen - comes to your table in a super hot stone bowl and they proceed to pour the broth over your ramen and cover it with a open steam top bowl. So the ramen actually Cooks in front of you for a few minutes before they take the top off and you're able to eat it. They have instructions on the table of how to cook your ramen. Shrimp Fried Rice - the fried rice also comes in a piping hot stone bowl they bring the egg out raw and pour it into the stone bowl and it Cooks in front of you. Pretty cool things if you've never experienced it. The rice was pretty good and all of their items are very reasonably priced and large quantities for the cost. The shrimp in the rice were very large, wasn't expecting that. The service was interesting, we did have about four different people helping us throughout the dinner. They were all very kind and nice. I believe the gentleman's name was deandre the main guy helping us. He was nice and also appeared to be a great bartender from how I watched to making drinks. I did not partake in one myself but he seems to have a nice pour and good shaking hand. Enjoy!

I ordered the Kazzan Ramen and I thought it was okay. I love the dry ice effect though. My husband and I shared a takoyaki and Mt Matcha Ice Kazzan. Those were ok as well. The staff were nice but the service was slow. I like how this place is huge and they didn't mind our toddler just hopping around the booths. Overall, this place is ok and I'm not sure if I'd come back again.

Came here for my mother's birthday. Upon waiting for a table the hostess said it would take awhile when there was plenty of tables open. Midway of service they switched waitresses. The first one seemed annoyed and wasn't very helpful. Service wasn't good, food wasn't good either. Super salty. Very underwhelming and disappointing

Decided to randomly stop by Kazzan on a weekday for happy hour. It was quite empty - maybe 2-3 other parties in the whole restaurant. With that being said, service was quite fast and attentive. Berry blossom cocktail - I was hoping it'd taste like a cherry blossom, but it definitely didn't. It wasn't sweet and you can definitely taste the alcohol. So for those expecting weak drinks, that won't be an issue. Happy hour assorted appetizers included edamame, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. This was a miss for me. The takoyaki was pretty bland, I wished it had more flavor. The chicken karaage was definitely over fried, which made it more crunchy and dry than I wanted it to be. Ordered the volcano ramen (kazzan shoyu) because it was highly recommended. I always like to try a ramen spot's shoyu ramen because a good ramen spot shouldn't mess this up. Unfortunately, I would pass on this kazzan shoyu. Of course, great presentation with the stone bold and the lid, but that's all there is to it. The flavor was seriously lacking for me. Maybe I should've ordered it with nitamago (egg) to make it better, but I won't be ordering this again. Ended the meal with their green tea kakigori. Once again, nice presentation, but the taste was lacking for me. It definitely required more of the green tea taste. The presentation is misleading of how much shaved ice there actually is. This is shareable between two people for sure. The restaurant itself looks beautiful with its aesthetics and fully stocked bar, however the disappointment in food is what's stopping me from running back here. Would be willing to try again, but not any time soon. Maybe they just need more time to settle in. Thanks for the good service though, Kazzan.

We wanted to check out this place after we saw a bunch of posts about it! We tried a wide assortment of dishes, some that we would get again and others probably not. We started with some appetizers and the most delicious was definitely the spicy fried shrimp! The flavor was creamy, a little spicy and was very crispy and delicious! We also got the pork cutlet, which was a delicious tonkatsu, perfectly fried with sauce. These were the two dishes I'd get again! The takoyaki was a little uncooked and mushy inside so the texture wasn't very pleasing. The assorted kushi was also waaaaay different than it had looked in pictures so it was a big suprise when it came out. The fried meats and vegetables were good but not worth $14....... For our main entrees we got the Kazzan sukiyaki ramen and the dry ramen. The sukiyaki ramen was fun to see but the soup really didn't taste like ramen broth. The broth was a good broth to drink but really tasted just like a normal soup with loots of cabbage flavor. We were also disappointed with lack of meat. Again, very different than the pictures on the menu. The noodles were also more like lo mein noodles than ramen noodles. Overall, it was okay but really wasn't ramen. The dried ramen we had was pretty good! It had lots of flavor but was almost too salty for me and a little too spicy for me as well. The servers were very kind and brought us our correct dishes when they made a mistake! All in all, I would still like come back for certain dishes and to try their cocktail drinks and desserts!

Kazzan Ramen is just okay to me. I must admit that I did go to a ramen spot and did not order ramen...but they was because the ramen options were a bit limited compared to other ramen spots that I have been to. I ordered one of the rice dishes and the meat while the flavor was good, the meat was such poor quality and I spent a majority of the time searching and picking for the edible pieces of beef in my bowl. My friend had the ramen and enjoyed it, but said that they have had better. The pros of this place are (1) our server was super sweet..they did not know much about the menu and told us that everything we asked was good but they were very pleasant (2) we went on a Wednesday at 7pm and it was completely empty so you probably don't have to worry too much about getting a seat.

My partner and I stopped by on a quiet Tuesday night--it was pretty empty, so we grabbed seats at the bar. We ordered the lychee sake and the "Matcha in My Dream" cocktail, and both were really good! The bartender did mention, with a bit of a sigh, that he wasn't a fan of making the cocktail because it had a lot of ingredients, which was a bit surprising since we were the only ones there. As for the ramen, it was decent. Not something I'd go out of my way for, but I wouldn't mind coming back if someone suggested it. The flavors were nice, just not exactly what I was looking for that night. Overall, an okay spot with great drinks.

Good ramen place! This is the first volcano ramen concept ramen place that has opened in Houston and although the concept sounds interesting, it's just a decent ramen place in my opinion. We came here for lunch during the week and it was not too busy. The place definitely reminds you of Japan, with the decor and music. The staff was very friendly and also greeted and said goodbye in Japanese. We ordered a few plates: beef don, yodare chicken and the kazzan karamiso ramen. All were pretty good! The kazzan ramen volcano style was neat to watch and it was great that the broth stayed hot from the hot stone. We also had a mango lemonade drink since we didn't feel like cocktails that day but definitely want to come back to try cocktails and dessert. Parking was not bad since it's in a shopping center strip. Overall good ramen place.

I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom. This is really a unique broth and I haven't had anything like it. You should definitely try it! Restaurant: clean, neat, every table literally has its place /orientation. Deep wood furniture, honeyed lighting, and dark window shades give the restaurant a cozy chic ambience despite visiting around noon. Good food, great service. Great prices. Large portions.

I love ramen and have always been curious about this spot next to my nail salon. In recent months,…read morethey have decided to open for lunch. I was excited to stop in and try it on a Monday around 1pm. The inside of the restaurant is really nicely done. It has a bar area and tables. I was sat at a table. The ordering system is through a QR code. It was fine and I paid with Apple Pay. You can also type in your credit card. I chose the tonkatsu ramen with the lunch special add on of pork and rice for 3.90. The ramen was a 7/10 for me. The egg, the pork and the broth lacked flavor. The flavor on the pork in the rice dish was better, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. I gave up on my bowl about halfway through and left unsatisfied. I don't think I'll be back.

Great sizzling & ramen spot in Bellaire + more…read more Really enjoyed our visit at Toyori in Bellaire. The food was delicious, flavorful, and comforting, and the service was friendly throughout our meal. The ambiance was nice and relaxing, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy ramen with family and friends. There were 18 in our group, so there was understandably a bit of a wait to accommodate us, but it was definitely worth the wait. Definitely recommend trying this place if you're craving good ramen and Asian fusion dishes in the Bellaire area! The Ribeye sizzling plate is a MUST-try--especially with their signature sauce. So flavorful and satisfying. Their takoyaki tasted so authentic, it felt like being in Japan--another must-try Overall, an excellent dining experience and we would definitely come back again!

Tried Toyori recently and honestly the experience was a mix for me…read more I had their sizzling beef before and wasn't too impressed, so this time I decided to try the ramen. It was decent, but nothing that really stood out flavor wise. The food overall was okay at best in my opinion. What I did enjoy was the ambiance and atmosphere. The restaurant has really nice decorations and a cozy vibe that makes it a pleasant place to hang out. The staff was also attentive and friendly throughout the visit, which I appreciated. While the food didn't fully win me over, the service and environment definitely made the experience better.
