    Mixed Fried Fish
    Dave O.

So I researched food to try in Venezia and fritto misto is one of them. Further search shows that Frito Inn is an excellent place to get fritto misto. I went early, about 15 minutes after they opened so there was no line. I ordered the fritto misto di pesce, which is the mixed fried fish with calamari, shrimp, and small fish. Everything is cooked fresh to order but fairly quickly. It all was hot and crispy, seasoned perfectly and not at all greasy. I paired it with some hot sauce and mayo. The portions were a good size and the prices were fair. I would recommend Frito-Inn to anyone visiting Venice for a good meal.

Amazing! I ordered the calamari and fell in love. Wish I had more time in Venice to eat here again. Friendly staff.

Great street food at a very reasonable price! All food is fried. Must try are the calamari and mezzancolle (squid and shrimp and minnows/anchovies (?)) and fried tuna balls. The pollo frito and patates (chicken nuggets and potatoes) were tasty. The fried vegetables (verdure) are only carrots and zucchini. They also had fried fish and mozzarella which I did not try. Regarding the fish and shrimp, they fry the whole thing intact (shells, head, tail). It's rare you find that anywhere, at least in US. Very tasty. Condiments are only salt, pepper, lemon juice and soy sauce.

Frito Inn was recommended by our Airbnb host, and it's the only recommendation of his that fell short. I ordered the frito misto which is a mix of various seafoods - something I would normally love, but this order just felt overly fried (didn't even know that was possible!). They redeemed themselves with the baccala - fried cod balls - something I'm still thinking about today! Also, they offered $1 glasses of vino - who can beat that? Definitely check out this place if you're looking for a quick snack in the area, but if you're not a lover of fried food, stick with the fish balls or other similar items.

Quick bite made fresh and so many choices all at low prices. The seafood tastes fresh and the chicken was super crunchy and moist. Also got something like arancini that was great as well

Their batter is light and airy; so it was a good snack of fried variety of fish from the Venice.

Tonight I ventured over to Osteria dei Sapori for dinner. I had walked past this place a few times…read moreover the last few days and finally decided to give it a try. Their outdoor seating area is spacious and every time I passed by it was packed. That's usually a pretty good sign that the food is worth the stop. Now one thing I still haven't found anywhere in Italy is good old Southern hospitality. I guess that's expected since I'm a long way from the good ole USA South. But I'm adjusting, and honestly I came here for the food, not warm welcomes and waiters calling me "darlin'." I ordered a Coca-Cola because as a certified water snob, I'm still searching for that magical glass of water over here. For dinner I ordered the Spaghetti allo Scoglio. Sounds fancy, right? If you know Italian, I'm sure it does. I was just thankful the menu also said "spaghetti with seafood" underneath it so I didn't accidentally order octopus eyeballs or something. When the dish hit the table it looked like Michelangelo himself had snuck into the kitchen and started plating pasta instead of painting ceilings. I grabbed the fork, rolled the pasta onto the spoon like a seasoned Italian for about three seconds, and took a bite. Bam. There it is boys. The best pasta dish I've had since touching down on this foreign land. The sauce was hot, creamy, and cooked to perfection. The seafood was fantastic and every bite was loaded with flavor. This dish absolutely hit the 5 mark for food quality. I'm giving the overall experience 4 stars because I had to ask for bread and they're still lacking that Southern hospitality touch. But the food was excellent, the outdoor seating was great, and this is definitely a place I may find myself back at again before leaving Venice.

A combination of a thunderstorm and an early dinner meant the place was empty, but Marco and other staff welcomed us warmly all the same. We had the antipasti Parmigiana Di Melanzane (fried eggplant with cheese) and enjoyed the mains Pasta Al Forno (baked pasta with beef and peas), Pasta Con Le Polpette E Salsa Di Pomodoro (spaghetti with meatballs - not pictured), and Turbante Di Pesce Spada "A Beccafico" (baked swordfish). These were also with the Casa Rosso wine and Birra Siciliana beer both blonde and red. All food was superb. The fried eggplant was flavorful and fresh, and the bread was crispy and savory. The baked pasta was rich, the spaghetti and meatballs were nostalgic, and the swordfish was delectable. Safe to say we all cleared our plates easily. We wish nothing but the very best for Marco and his restaurant. This food was some of the best we had on our two week stay throughout Italy. The atmosphere, staff, and of course the amazing food made for a great experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced homestyle Sicilian meal.
