Gosh, I never write reviews but just felt like I had to on this. I have been a gardener and preserver of food for my family for 30 years. I ordered 2-8lb boxes of apricots to can homemade preserves this year. Apricot is my absolute favorite. I was so excited and waited months for my order. It arrived. Packaging was great but I was worried about the tiny size of the apricots. I wrote to company concerned about blanching and removing peels from such tiny fruit. They were responsive and told me to blanch as I always have of stone fruits and tomatoes. I did so. Even put an x on bottom of fruit. No matter what I did, peels would not come off. Thankfully I have a Vitamix to pulverize them but will have to give away and use right away because cannot store with skins in them. I spent $150 on them and have maybe 8 cups of fruit to work with. Very disappointed and will not be a return customer. read more

I received cherries and apricots from Frog Hollow as a gift. The cherries were small and tastless. The apricots were hard and tastless. I was shocked that the company doesn't understand that some fruit doesn't contiue to ripen once picked. read more

Just ordered some organic Cal Red peaches from Frog Hollow. They are a magnificent fruit, unlike any other peach I have ever eaten, and definitely worth the price. The way I learned about them is when a neighbor gave me 2 peaches from his supply (what a guy!). I immediately ordered boxes for myself and my family, they were that good. Yes, they're expensive, but they are so worth it. I live in Texas where Fredericksburg peaches, known for their deliciousness, abound, but when they're held up to Cal Reds, there's simply no comparison. I cannot wait for the next season. With the way things changed since 2019, the accessibility of this company's products became more difficult for those of us who hail from San Francisco. They used to have a stand in the Ferry Building opposite from the hallway from Boulette Larder. They also used to have a stand at the Tuesday Ferry farmer's market but have not for some time. They are still at the Saturday market, offering their seasonal farm harvest as well as some baked goods that they make. During the summer, I was able to get fresh mulberries while they were in season. But when a friend noticed that they made fruit flavored ice cream sandwiches through Neon, we agreed to give them a try. On our first attempt, our order was cancelled two days after ordering. I was a bit disappointed in getting my order in that the flavors listed on Neon were not the same as the ones that I received (strawberry and peach, I believe), but that may be because it is seasonal. The worst company ever. I ordered some persimmons and they arrived wilted and bruised. I can't believe how much I forked out and got crap. They were not even flavorful. They are so damaged and old that I threw most of them out. I am so mad. I even had some shipped to a family member. I was so embarrassed that I had to apologize to her for sending her old and bruised products. The packaging was also flimsy. Don't offer shipping if you can't ensure quality products. We spent a bundle sending these peaches to family and friends. We got O'Henry peaches on July 31. There is one left on the counter that shows no signs of rot after 12 days. I peeled it and could only find a dime sized part that showed the least bit of rot. Peaches that we have grown ourselves would start rotting about 3 days after ripening. Sometimes they would last up to five days. This peach, though, tasty is like a twinkie, no decay cupcake. I very much doubt they are organic. read more

We have been blessed to receive these delicious organic fruits via school lunch pick ups. All of the fruits we've had are all sweet and juicy. My kids and husband do not usually eat fruits but they've been chopping away at these. At times we've had to cut them up and freeze to make sure we don't waste. We use them to make smoothies. read more

Wow! I've been trying the fruit from my current box. Just strawberries and cherries so far, which are so much better than any I have bought at the store, and I only shop at Berkeley Bowl West or Monterey Market, most recently the latter. I was wrong about the blackberries, though. They're mulberries, which I've never heard of outside nursery rhymes and certainly never tasted. I took them out to combine w/ the blueberries and discovered a new experience. It's not that I recognized them; they came in a clamshell that was labeled, so I knew what they were. I thought they were blackberries because a fellow customer at Three Stone Hearth misidentified them as we were chatting. I'm eating them separately and they are so good. Different from what I've had before and a wonderful new treat. Reading up on them later (just now) I learned that they don't keep long, so I did the right thing eating them all right away! I am very fussy about my produce, one of many reasons I don't use services like Instacart. I don't trust anybody else to choose my produce. Based on this experience, however, I would trust the folks at Frog Hollow Farm to choose produce for me forever. read more

Frog Hollow Farms - Disappointment and Misrepresentation I received my order of "Fresh picked succulent nectarines" on Wednesday June 16, or "so the ad said." For years we have been fortunate and had a couple drive into NYC several times a week, with all of our summer fruit needs. This year, as a result of Covid, they did not come. I went online and came across Frog Hollow Farms, who boasted fresh picked delicious fruit and had Five-Star reviews front and center, one after another. Needless to say they were outrageously expensive, "but one must pay for quality", I told myself. The small box that I received was a bit of a shock. "How could all of the fruit that I bought be in that little box?" Well, upon opening, my question was answered, inside I found the sorriest examples of nectarines that I have ever seen in my life, 17 of them, most no bigger than a large egg. All either green or rotten, some green on one side and bruised-black on the other. I took a photo of one next to an egg and went to post a review. I wrote out the review giving them One-Star and explaining why ...and then had to go through a verification process for Frog Hollow to accept my review. I jumped through all of their hoops, verified my identity, my order number, my date of delivery and hit submit. The automated message thanked me for my review, but it never posted. It has been five days and there are still no One-Star Reviews on their site. All of the Five-Star reviews are there still, and a few three-star reviews but the review page shows Zero One-Star Reviews. Mine is not there, nor are any of the other One-Star reviews that I easily found on Yelp and Google. I hope that I am able to post the picture that I took, because it is literally worth a thousand words. Every day for a month now since I initiated my order, I have been bombarded with ads filled with pictures of luscious fruits of all varieties. The now go directly to Junk Mail. This review is for my last order of O'Henry peaches only. Normally, the fruit from Frog Hollow Farm is excellent but our recent order of five O'Henry peaches (3 lbs) included one rotten peach and one peach that was half rotten. I ended up with 3 1/2 peaches for $39.99. The peaches that were edible were delicious but I won't be reordering that this price. Hopefully, they will give me a partial refund. read more

Frog Hollow grows and delivers the juiciest, most perfect, ripe, organic peaches from May through August. May through August!!! The peach season has been extended by a couple of months, people! They do it by growing 12 (I think) varieties of peaches that have slightly different growing seasons. Their fruit is TO DIE FOR. I've been receiving my CSA box from these folks for a few months now, and I am in total peach heaven. Oh, and the nectarines, plums, cherries and apricots are all just as good. I am now thoroughly spoiled for "regular" fruit. Someone brought me some cherries from Safeway the other day and I had to spit them out. Why eat those when you can get a box delivered to your neighborhood containing fruit that's so good it will make you swoon? The only drawback is the price. It ain't cheap. But damn, you really get what you pay for. Go in on a box with a couple friends and you'll all be happy together. Sharing is caring. read more

Still love Frog Hollow fruit but I felt I had to shed some light on their "kitchen grade" offering, since no explanation is given on the website. We ordered the 10lb box (half the price of their normal peaches), and the peaches were fine but with some heavy bruising. I suspect these are the peaches that fall to the ground. My suspicion was bolstered after I bit into one and a GIGANTIC EARWIG crawled out the top. I've eaten ridiculous quantities of frog hollow peaches and this is a first. Unless you're not bug averse, I'd suggest steering clear of the kitchen grade. read more

I ordered a pickup for today at a Palo Alto location. The drop off hours were listed as 12:00-8PM. I arrived shortly before 6PM and there was no one in sight. I was hoping to use the produce I ordered for a thanksgiving dish. Very disappointing for them to list a set of hours and then when I show up in those hours, no one is there. read more

I have been having frog hollow ship me their delicious organic fruit every other week for the last three years. Throughout the year I receive the best peaches, plums, nectarines, pears, cherries and any other fruit you can possibly think of. In the summer we can consume a box in two days. If I am in a baking mood I can add extra fruit to my existing order at a reduced rate. The fruit is spectacular and worth triple what I pay. The staff is very helpful and I am on a first name bases with Karen who runs the CSA and is always a delight to chat with and very helpful. I love my fruit. For those of you foodies...I believe they have been written up in the L.A. Times, Gourmet and Saveur. read more

For such a huge enterprise, why so few reviews and the most recent almost a year ago? Perhaps because anyone with a negative review(Me) feels intimidated by all the glowing reviews from yesteryear. However, I am generous, with 3 stars. This was my first CSA venture and was disappointing, first, because I didn't like the Albion strawberries and got them for weeks on end, sometimes in double doses. They were ALWAYS molded if i didn't use them on arrival. When that glut ended, the Kiwi took over, and when that glut ended, there were pluots galore, one time seventeen of them. Their "legendary fruit" Is often refrigerated such that it's like what you get at Safeway.....hard for two days and over-ripe the next day. it's not going from the farm to your table. It's going from their storage bins to your table. Or the S.F.Produce Mart to your table. The farms' leftovers go in the CSA boxes. They tell us that in their Newsletter! Some of it is excellent. But too much has ended up in my garbage heap. I have better luck buying from Diablo Foods where the origin (farm name and location) of each variety is posted and I can leave the culls behind. read more

Hands down some of the freshest and sweetest fruit. The extra options are wonderful and the pastry are delicious. We have given there jams and syrup as gift before and they are always a hit with the recipient, as well as at home with the kids. Great for pancakes and waffles. read more

We've been a Frog Hollow Farm/Happy Child CSA members for about a year and a half. THe fruit is delicious! If you eat some of their cherries and then try even local, organic cherries purchased at Whole Foods, there's no comparison. Their fruit is amazing! When you're a CSA member, you get carefully packed fruit delivered to a drop-off site. In addition to their seasonal fruit, they also provide winter fruits from other organic, sustainable farms. So it is a year-round CSA. Not only is their fruit fantastic, they're also really nice people. Farmer Al is a font of information and is very easy to talk to. The CSA staff, Karen and Jeff, are also super helpful. When I've had a problem, they've fixed it right away. When I wanted to add items to my box, they've gone above and beyond to get things to me. Oh, and they host really fun and educational events at their farm. This past spring, we were able to come over, have a fantastic lunch and pick some awesome cherries. It's great to support a local, sustainable organic farm that is also run by great people! read more
