Bought 8lbs of pomegranates and a bunch are rotten. The rest are super tart and not great. They cost like $7 a pomegranate ‍.

With the way things changed since 2019, the accessibility of this company's products became more difficult for those of us who hail from San Francisco. They used to have a stand in the Ferry Building opposite from the hallway from Boulette Larder. They also used to have a stand at the Tuesday Ferry farmer's market but have not for some time. They are still at the Saturday market, offering their seasonal farm harvest as well as some baked goods that they make. During the summer, I was able to get fresh mulberries while they were in season. But when a friend noticed that they made fruit flavored ice cream sandwiches through Neon, we agreed to give them a try. On our first attempt, our order was cancelled two days after ordering. Several weeks later, we tried again and successfully ordered a three-pack (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=iZB6kVcjbAzMDY498cp3UQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). I tried the apricot ice cream sandwich (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=OMBX4CcTazCECpivJovnHg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) first; it was nice and the apricot flavor was there but very subtle. About a week later, I tried pluot ice cream sandwich (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jwxfUo9GBEgGsULRyCtzeQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); perhaps it is my palate, but I could not distinguish the pluot flavor on this one. As of this review, I have yet to try the caramel pear one yet but will edit this if I get to it this weekend. I was a bit disappointed in getting my order in that the flavors listed on Neon were not the same as the ones that I received (strawberry and peach, I believe), but that may be because it is seasonal. I am glad that Frog Hollow was able to pivoted though their presence has shrunk from pre-2019 times. *** Edit - I tried the caramel pear ice cream sandwich (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Kx6-J7JVrXbFcSE686lnbg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed this a lot more. The cinnamon flavor added to the main ingredients. I also learned that, by thawing this for 5-10 minutes, the flavors shined more. That might have been my mistake in eating the previous two.

We have been blessed to receive these delicious organic fruits via school lunch pick ups. All of the fruits we've had are all sweet and juicy. My kids and husband do not usually eat fruits but they've been chopping away at these. At times we've had to cut them up and freeze to make sure we don't waste. We use them to make smoothies.

Frog Hollow Farms - Disappointment and Misrepresentation I received my order of "Fresh picked succulent nectarines" on Wednesday June 16, or "so the ad said." For years we have been fortunate and had a couple drive into NYC several times a week, with all of our summer fruit needs. This year, as a result of Covid, they did not come. I went online and came across Frog Hollow Farms, who boasted fresh picked delicious fruit and had Five-Star reviews front and center, one after another. Needless to say they were outrageously expensive, "but one must pay for quality", I told myself. The small box that I received was a bit of a shock. "How could all of the fruit that I bought be in that little box?" Well, upon opening, my question was answered, inside I found the sorriest examples of nectarines that I have ever seen in my life, 17 of them, most no bigger than a large egg. All either green or rotten, some green on one side and bruised-black on the other. I took a photo of one next to an egg and went to post a review. I wrote out the review giving them One-Star and explaining why ...and then had to go through a verification process for Frog Hollow to accept my review. I jumped through all of their hoops, verified my identity, my order number, my date of delivery and hit submit. The automated message thanked me for my review, but it never posted. It has been five days and there are still no One-Star Reviews on their site. All of the Five-Star reviews are there still, and a few three-star reviews but the review page shows Zero One-Star Reviews. Mine is not there, nor are any of the other One-Star reviews that I easily found on Yelp and Google. I hope that I am able to post the picture that I took, because it is literally worth a thousand words. Every day for a month now since I initiated my order, I have been bombarded with ads filled with pictures of luscious fruits of all varieties. The now go directly to Junk Mail. NEVER AGAIN!!!

The Fuji apples I received were small and already rotting inside. The mandarins were very small and dry.

The product is amazing. What I don't like is how much they charge for shipping. it is ridiculously high.

The eggs are wonderful, delivery prompt, online store very accessible, and they conveniently partner with other local farms to provide veggies + fruit in addition to their sustainable meats (most CSAs will only provide one or the other). We came across Tara Firma initially via online / yelp searches shortly after moving to the Bay Area in 2016. When my husband and I initially started looking into vegetarianism for animal welfare reasons, I suggested we visit a farm that employs best practices of ethically and sustainably raised meat to help inform our decision. Tara Firma offers free educational tours every weekend and so we drove up one day with our 2 dogs (leashed dogs welcome!) and another family with their 3 (non furry) children for a fun Petaluma outing. The tour was informative and our guide was clearly super passionate about their mission. The farm was very beautiful and the lands idyllic -- we loved the fact that the cows were so free range that we could just barely make them out as a tiny dot in the distant hills. We all enjoyed observing the chicken dynamics around their mobile coop with their rooster guard, and they showed us how unperturbed the hens were when removing the eggs from the nest-- evening letting the children carefully take a couple out. Ultimately, we decided to pursue a vegetarian diet (especially after my husband met the pigs there), but we joined the CSA for their eggs and veggie share + cheeses (sourced from partner farms). We also have purchased meat occasionally for visiting carnivore families and friends, as we wanted to ensure if they were going to eat meat -- they were getting it from a farm like Tara Firma that does it in the right way. The best part of the CSA was their pet share as we realized buying offal from this farm would be a great compromise for our dogs (who were rebelling against our plant-based diet experiment) as we just wanted to provide our dogs protein with leftovers / byproduct without creating additional demand on the meat industry. Our pet share included amazing proteins like heart, tongue, cheeks, as well as more indulgent items like liver and kidney. Even the trotters and bones I would use to make broth in order to flavor / disguise our dogs' vegetarian kibble haha :) We also occasionally received some freezer burn meats, which cannot be sold for human consumption but safe (and very drool-worthy) for our dogs! Unfortunately, the pet share program has been discontinued but there are still plenty of diverse offal options in the farm store! Overall, a great local farm to support and highly recommend a visit!
