I used to go to Froggys all the time when I was going to college here! I really liked the burgers and fries they had! It also is a bar if you like to drink. I personally always got a Burger bowl which is a burger of your choice but instead of buns it is put in a bowl of salad. It was healthier and easier to eat while still being delicious. I enjoyed the Aloha burger but all their burgers are great. I also would recommend the Shroomer Fries. It was a huge serving and was tasty! The service is always super friendly and patient. The "Garden Burger" has cheese in it and the honey mustard dipping sauce has egg in it so if you have allergies be aware of this. When we asked for dairy free options the server didn't seem to understand or know what that meant. The "BBQ" dipping sauce is a brown chili powder paste. Definitely not appetizing. When we asked the server for BBQ sauce she said that's all they have and if we don't like it we don't have to eat it. The server was quite rude. The server was also forgetful -- brought us two honey mustard dipping sauce when we asked for BBQ sauce because one person in our party was dairy allergic. Froggy's Bar and Grill is located on the corner of 2nd Street and G in downtown Davis. I met up with friends to grab a bite to eat and after perusing the menu decided on the California burger. This tasty burger comes with spicy aioli, bacon, and pepper jack cheese. The fresh beef patty was grilled exactly how I ordered it, medium rare, that is with some red running through the clear juices from the patty. Yep I was in hamburger heaven. This burger was, in one word, yummylicious! Important note: Although Froggy's is located on a busy corner, its unpretentious entrance is easy to miss. Started the afternoon out with a Roy Rogers/cherry coke as I waited. Tommy J's/Froggy's serves some delicious burgers. I had the Swiss N' Shroomer which happened to please the palate with ease. On the side were fries with ranch dressing and those were just about perfect as well. On the other side of the table from me was the Cali-Burger which looked delicious and judging by the lack of leftovers, was. There has always been a debate whether Froggies or Burgers & Brew had the better burgers. For me, I'm Froggies all the way! I've been coming here for burgers all through undergrad. I've tried many burgers and loved all of them. Today I got the BLUE BUFFALO. The bun is toasty: Slightly crispy and buttery. Best buns I've ever had! Haha! The burger itself is soooooo juicy and tender. But the best thing about this burger is the blue cheese. Blue cheese is a hit or miss for me because I like the taste but it cannot be too strong. Here, it's the best consistency, thick and creamy, and the flavor is right in the middle between light and heavy. I also like dipping my fries in the left over blue cheese. LOVE IT!! The burgers comes with either fries, salad or coleslaw. I always stick with the fries since they give you a good amount and it's crispy but with the nice potato fill. The one thing about the burgers I don't like is that it drips grease/oil when you eat it. I just hold my burger the entire time so the buns don't get soggy. Other than that, the flavors in these burgers are amazing! I definitely would give them a try. Customer service: they all are super nice. Some are more attentive than others. When you come to Froggy's, you've got to get a burger... that's what they are known for, and in my opinion, Froggy's is the best burger you can get in Davis. A Froggy's burger is not for the super-health conscious person. These are big, juicy burgers loaded with all the right fixin's. They definitely don't taste healthy. They just taste real good. Froggy's has a menu with a large variety of burgers on it. There is a burger that can fit just about anyone. Even if you wanted to lean more towards the 'healthy' side of things, you can get a garden burger type patty. I didn't. I ended up getting the cajun burger tonight because I wanted something with a bit of a kick. The burger definitely has a little heat to it, but not so much that it overpowers the rest of the burger. It's a super tasty burger enhanced with some spiciness - perfect. If you want a lot of heat, it might not do it, but I'm looking for a good balance... and this did the trick. The fries that come with the burger are equally as good. They were fried to the perfect crunch factor. Table are loaded with salt/pepper seasoning that works just great with the fries. My friend and I were looking for a place to have dinner and this place did not disappoint. They have the best fries!! I think they're fried in panko or something bc they have that extra crisp! I had their Jam burger which was delicious. I ordered clam chowder and I wasn't too much of a fan bc it was too smoky but I gave it to my friend and she absolutely loved it and finished the entire bowl. The staff was sooooooo nice and friendly. The environment reminded me of a low key cheers. The music was chill too. Really loving this place! I've gone here three times now, and every single time I have been satisfied with both the service and food. I went to Froggy's on a Saturday night, to order some takeout for dinner. Given that it was Saturday, it was busy and so it took a while for someone to take my order, and even longer for me to receive my food. I usually tip between twenty, or twenty five percent, and after I had paid and tipped, the girl at the bar started to loudly tell another customer how she was having a bad night cause she had been stiffed on tips by a few other customers. I knew it wasn't about me, and yet that is such an uncomfortable topic to hear about, especially since most of the ppl at this bar are students, and I think probably many give what they can afford. So that was just weird. I ordered wings with red hot sauce, jalapeno poppers, and the tritip dip, with a side of fries to go. I was given everything in a bag, and when I checked it seemed like everything was there, but once I got home I realized the sandwich didn't have any dipping sauce and the sandwich was just too dry to eat without a dipping sauce. luckily, I always have homemade stock in my freezer, so I just defrosted that, seasoned it, and used it as the jus... not the same, but good enough. When I ordered the jalapeno poppers and the wings, I was asked what kind of dipping sauce I wanted, ranch or blue cheese, to which I replied "blue cheese". They did give me three dipping sauce remekins, which I was happy about because that's plenty. When I opened the remekins, however, two were ranch, and one was blue cheese. The jalapeno poppers are just ok. They aren't spicy at all, but they are nice and crunchy. the chicken wings had the sauce on the side, and I had to toss it in the sauce myself, but they were nice and crunchy, well cooked and tender, and quite tasty. So with this mixed experience of good and bad, I leave you to decide for yourself. I myself, think it was worth the one try but I doubt I will try them again. read more

My husband had the pot roast sandwich with grilled mushrooms and onions. He said it was also tender and flavorful. Our server was super friendly and efficient. The break down was with the bar service. We were told that the owner was tending bar. His attention to detail was lacking and when we ordered another round, though our server brought it to him, he didn't stop having a drink with someone at the bar to even bother to make our drinks. I love Froggy's so much. This was one of my go-to spots when I was going to college at UCD. I even had one of my first "going out" experiences when I was 22 here with a free "blow job" cocktail! I broke a glass :| I am sorry Froggy's for having to put up with college Cynthia! I had a chance to revisit Froggy's a couple weeks ago when I was in the Sacramento area. Luckily it was during winter break so there weren't many students in town and it wasn't busy at all. Popped in for a burger and beer after a workout. Went with my all time favorite here -- BUFFALO BLEU!!!! Cooked to a perfect medium rare. Mmm franks hot sauce and bleu cheese go so well together. They also had Deschutes fresh squeezed IPA on tap and that's among my top 25 beers. The beer selection isn't as great as burgers and brew, but I honestly think the burgers are comparable. read more
