Stopped here on a whim because it looked cute from the outside and we're so glad we did! The service was amazing and the food was delicious! I got the chilaquiles with meat and my partner got the biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. I got the Carne Asada Super Burrito. Very good and actually used avocado slices instead of guacamole. Salsa on the side was delicious as well. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Small hole in the wall kind of place, but those always have the best food. Would come back if I'm ever in Winters again. read more

You won't be disappointed by this place. Some of the best food in Winters. My favorites are the Tacos and Tortas de asada. Hamburgers are great also. The food is seasoned well, and satisfying. Great little spot to eat! We stopped on our way home from seeing the glory hole at Lake Berryessa. It's on the main road, and it's an older building, but oh my gosh the food was so great!! We dined in and ordered shrimp fajitas, a torta, and the Carne Asada plate. The staff was very friendly and they gave us fresh homemade tortilla chips and salsa. Probably the best I've ever had and the food we ordered was so good! Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. We'll definitely be back! read more

Where do I start with this gem??!!! Husband and I are camping at Berryessa and the trailer refrigerator went out so no food!! We decided to drive in to town for coffee and spotted this little divey looking place. Mexican/American food written on the windows. We may have had a second thought when we walked in and saw we had to order at the counter and the decide was just blah, but instead ordered and sat and waited. Within minutes several men came in and sat at their own tables and apparently are all regulars and started talking with them all. Our food came out and I have to say this was by far the best chilaquilles I have EVER eaten. The eggs and chips were cooked together which made it like a egg chip. Lol not to spicy and came with homemade retried beans. The girl at the counter and also the server was so adorable and sweet, I could tell she loves her job and her customers. The other men were all raving about the biscuits and gravy that they only sometimes have. Apparently we all need to try those. I have a feeling we will be back with our friends tomorrow for breakfast again. The food was fresh and plenty of it! What a great way to start our morning!! read more

Very disappointing for a "Mom & Pop" in a small town that is slowly being taken over by fast food at the highway end. Working on a project in Winters & have driven past for several months. Sign says "delicious burgers". Not sure who critiqued the burgers. I don't eat fast food, but would have had a better burger from fast food for a whole lot less. Meat tasted like a bulk Costco frozen burger, tomato was barely pink, no flavor. Asked for cheddar cheese, couldn't even taste on the burger. Have had a stomach ache that WON'T go away since about 20 minutes after consuming the burger. Maybe the Mexican food it better, but I will never know, because for the price & the quality of what I ate for lunch yesterday, I won't go back. read more

Excellent food. Great customer service. The Tortas are amazing. The soups are to die for. Everything is on point. They do a great job, especially during the HS lunch rush. This place pleasantly surprised me. My husband and I had just gotten done with the Blue Ridge Trail at Stebbins Cold Canyon at Lake Berryessa and naturally we were very hungry when we finished and decided to give this place a try. Our "go to" spot is usually the taco truck down the street but I am glad we gave this place a try. The inside is a little on the older side but that doesn't take away from the taste of their food. I had a machaca plate which consists of shredded beef, grilled onion, bell pepper and egg. I left off the egg because I'm not a huge egg fan and it was so good! The meat had a great flavor! I also loved enjoyed the beans and tortilla that came with it. The hubs ordered an omelet and hash browns which he thought were tasty. He enjoyed his food as well. I live in Winters and have passed by Kountry Kitchen for the past year without giving it try. It looks somewhat run down on the outside. I decided to give it try the other day when my in-laws came up for a visit. The prices can't be beat. The food was typical Mexican fare which is somewhat surprising considered that Kountry Kitchen is marketed as a breakfast/hometown cooking kind of restaurant. The food was average tasting and the restaurant was not clean. I might eat there in a pinch again but I can't say that I would look forward to going back. read more

Okay. How do I say this? Hmmm... When we walked in the door, we almost walked right back out- it was dirty and no one was in there. But the GF and I being brave from an early morning hike decided to stay. We ate and expected to be sick later that day. But no sickness ever came, so that is a good thing. But seriously, even if you are really hungry, just keep driving through Winters, there is nothing to eat here. This place's Chilaquiles sucked (They were tortilla chips for Christ's Sake!) and the refried beans were out of a can, ate one bite and didn't touch them again. The GF's breakfast sandwich was good, but the sausage patty seemed undercooked (It probably wasn't, just us being paranoid). My biscuit and gravy was a JOKE. Lumpy, no-flavor-having gravy drowning a biscuit that tasted part salt/part cardboard. Besides the food totally sucking and the place being dirty (Floors, tables, bathrooms, you name it), they have metal fold-up chairs to sit on if you eat there. I admit, I liked the campiness of it a little bit. Just a little though and never, ever, ever enough to come back. read more

I used to do training rides from Davis down 128, up the dam, to Lake Berryessa and back. Winters marked the halfway point of the ride. The first time I did this ride it was evident that we had not brought enough food with us. It was raining fairly hard, so when we needed sustenance we hit up the Kountry Kitchen. First, throw out all the comments about whats clean and grimy etc... We haven't seen your house or bathroom! They're not selling bathrooms, they're selling food! Let's talk about good food. I have been to many high end restaurants and gotten horrible food and even worse service, many times. I ran across Kountry Kitchen by chance, just looking for anyplace to eat. I was drawn to it because it looked like it could use a customer or two. Parking lot had a couple of cars there. I love "Hole-in-the-Walls". There was a couple leaving the restaurant as I was deciding whether or not to come in. They told me that the burgers were fantastic. That was enough for me! I'm in! As soon as I walked in and saw that it was clean and smelling so savory; and the there were no skinny people, I knew it was going to be good. I could smell what was already cooking, which told me the cook had an interest in the end product. So, I ordered the burger, a cheese burger, Nachos Supreme, Machaca Plate and a Al Pastor burrito. ...chips came to the table and the salsa was a rich, thick, well seasoned representation of what was to come. It was all very good and under-priced compared to some of the garbage that's passing for food these days. There is no way that I would come within 50 miles and ever pass this place up! If I have to go to the bathroom, I don't care what it looks like! I gotta go! As long as I can wash my hands going out the door! And that I could do! Thank you Kountry Kitchen!
