Should be renamed Jim Crow's Alley! We still paid and even tipped, but the manager showed her true colors -- straight-up racist and nasty. She literally came over yelling at the top of her lungs in the middle of us STILLL eating, cursing about the bill and tip like she lost her mind. The only table she chose to target was the only Black folks in the whole place. That says everything. MIND YOU WE WERE NOT EVEN DONE OUR FOOD AND DRINKS YET! She was loud, aggressive, and completely unprofessional -- acting like she was looking for a problem instead of trying to manage one. The whole vibe turned hostile and uncomfortable. Ordered take-out from KC's Alley today. I ordered a Buffalo Wrap - mild, as well as a side of Plain 'ol Fries with the Pepper Jack Cheese Dip. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone who was very courteous while taking my order. When I ordered I requested for the side (comes with the wrap) of Pesto Pasta Salad to come in a separate container. The Buffalo Wrap was perfect, chicken was fresh and juicy and the mild sauce was perfect. The fries were crispy and delicious as well + Pepper Jack Cheese dip was the perfect accommodation. The Pesto Pasta Salad is always delicious, I have had it several times before. I recommend that it should be an appetizer on the menu because of how tasty it is! When I arrived at the restaurant, I was greeted by a polite woman who I told that I had ordered take-out. A gentleman then came and processed my order. Was pleasantly surprised to see the long roll of the sandwich was flattened like panini which I loved. Great service from the bartender too! I recently visited KC's for an early dinner and girlfriend time. We were able to sit outside in the alley which allowed for social distancing. Our server was super friendly and gave great drink and food suggestions. I had hot garlic tenders and sweet potato fries. The tenders were hot but were not heavy on the garlic. I asked for blue cheese which made them a little better. The sweet potato fries were hot and crispy. I didn't give 5 stars because my friend got a chicken cheese steak that was sort of underwhelming because the buffalo sauce was not cooked in but just slathered on top. Was really like a grilled chicken sandwich with hot sauce on it. Also it seemed like our server who was generally friendly seemed to have forgotten ever condiment we asked for ahead of time. At the very end, she ended up bringing new potatoes, even though we were done with our meal and they also were lukewarm. This review is for a takeout experience. With how difficult things are today for the restaurant world, I feel it's important to separate from an in person experience. We ordered hot wings, which were not hot on any scale and Alley fries, which are always too good to resist. The sandwiches we had were the salmon wrap, ultimate wrap, and the chipotle chicken. The sandwiches were all correct and prepared as expected. The containers seemed haphazardly packed and were sideways in the bag causing some mess. Definitely no frills with the order. Not even a pickle . And the wraps weren't cut either. The food was pretty average and not something you were excited to eat. It could be that they were super short handed. I have eaten there in person and always had a good experience. This was subpar compared to that. Hopefully just a bad night. read more

We went to KC's Alley this morning to try their Sunday Brunch. The server took a while, to bring us water. My husband ordered the Chicken and Waffles for $15, and I ordered the California Omelet. The food came and my Husband's food was a real disappointment. Nothing, and I mean nothing was fresh. It consisted of: Frozen Waffles and sausage that were cold, reheated fried chicken, and the coleslaw was definitely not homemade and came from a deli. My Omelet was okay and it was passable, that's why I gave a rating of 2 stars, or I would have given one star. The Brunch was horrible and we will never go back again. The server Megan was beyond rude when me and my friends came in on Tuesday during happy hour. Luckily she didn't serve us, just gave us menus. Customer service was terrible and she yelled No! Rudely at us when we asked if it was possible to sit outside or upstairs. She said "the upstairs is closed and we don't seat up there". So, we ended up seating ourselves cause she didn't seem interested in completing her job. Funny cause I usually sit outside, genuinely gave the vibe she was too lazy to walk us outside. Uncomfortable environment and my server was making out with her man at the host stand when I asked for help locating the bathroom. To top this mess off, of course 10 minutes after we ordered Megan begins seating people upstairs when they asked. I don't know if she's racist or what but that pissed me off. The place has a warm inviting bar type feel. Very prompt and polite staff and an excellent list of craft beers on tap. Sadly the food... I tried the open face tuna sandwich with cheese, bacon, and tomatoes. It sounded so delicious along with a side of tater tots. The tator tots were barely warm as was the sandwich. I think it was cooked long enough to just melt the cheese. Most of tuna fish was cold and while it looked so good on menu, it disappointed. I've given this place two tries, and I won't be back for a third. Here are both experiences (the first review has been sitting in my drafts - I really wanted to give it another chance): 1) They initially changed the channel for me so I could watch my football team (yay) ... but then changed again without warning or apology despite my clearly watching for two hours. Finally (!!), a manager came over but he wasn't at all kind or friendly about it. He even insulted me. Ummmmm.. huh? Look, if you're going to have to change the channel *mid watch* for someone after 2 hours of watching a game (after a specific request, no less), at least have the decency to warn the person so they have time to find another place to keep watching? They were so rude about the whole thing. And the bartender came with my check right as I was speaking to the unkind manager, so.. indication this is a common occurrence. Such a bummer. The burger was also nothing to write home about. 2) Today, I returned from a very long flight after being awake since 3am. I needed a place to just have a quick bite. Needless to say, I didn't really have the energy to be waiting on myself. I had to call for the bartender to get his attention to order a beer (he was busy on his phone) - though he did approach me five minutes later to take my food order. Both times, he wasn't very friendly. The food was actually quite good this time; the chicken sandwich and tater tots were hitting the spot. Unfortunately, I finished my meal and put my plate aside. And sat there. I looked around. There was no bartender behind the bar, the manager was on his laptop (which can be seen in the photo though he had walked into the back at this time) and the only other people who were waiting on the patrons were buried in their phones. I finally took my best guess at my bill total and put the cash on the bar so I could leave for my arriving Uber. Being as tired as I was after my long trip, I forgot to include the beer I had, and so when the bartender noticed I was short and came out to ask about it I apologized and gave him what I owed, of course. Though perhaps if I had received my bill appropriately, it wouldn't have happened? Overall, I have to say it's a real shame. This place has so much potential with good beers on tap and that chicken sandwich was tasty! However, there are places where folks seem to care more and are friendlier. I think I'll go to those spots for now instead. Bummer. Really hope KC's takes notice of the feedback here and improves. I want to love it! read more

Their burger is still delicious! I used to come here often for KC's Tuesday when I used to live in the area. After not having to been here for almost 5 years, I was kind of excited when we decided to have dinner here! Nothin changed since the last time I dined here. The interior was the same and the food was definitely the same! The burger was great and juicy like I last remembered and the onion rings were crunchy as ever! But my only complaint was the wing. I used to loveeeee their flavorful and saucy wings but this time the wings were try and did not have enough sauce. Also it didn't even come with any celery. I ordered delivery from this restaurant through Uber Eats. Even though the driver was quick to respond and deliver dinner , the food arrived cold and soggy. The chicken tenders were overdone and seemed to be rolled in shake and bake instead of something that would produce a nice crispy batter. The fried crab wontons were soggy and the club sandwich that I requested be on white bread was made on wheat with what tasted like bacon that was left over from breakfast. KCs is a great local bar/restaurant in Ambler. Love coming here for drinks, apps or dinner. They usually have a rotating draft beer list which always has something interesting on it to try. Last time I went it was on a Thursday which is their quizzo night. We ordered a bunch of appetizers: chips and guacamole/salsa, pepperoni flatbread, a cheesesteak on a pretzel roll and KC alley fries. Everything was delicious except for their guacamole and salsa. We have been eating out due to home renovation and trying new places. Nice atmosphere but food was not good. Reading terminal sandwich was clearly not a made by anyone from Philly. Chunks of dried pork, no juice/gravy, spinach/maybe rabe?, the kicker, long hots were jalapeños!! Sent back for correction and received new jalapeños cut length wise!! I've been to KC's Alley several times and our experience/food was fine in the past. However, we recently went and the menu has changed and not for the better. Very limited and in my opinion and overpriced for what you get. The service/staff was unacceptable. Dropped off the food and ran. No ketchup, salt, pepper. Problem is/was that my food came out with the pesto pasta salad when i asked to not include. I asked for fries instead. (Which the waitress said no problem. I assumed it would be a substitution but it was billed as a $5 side with an addt'l $1 charge for cheese/which I didn't ask for). In addition, I asked for no tomato on my Turkey Club but it was on there. When I tried to remove I realized that the bread was rock hard/cold. I told the waitress that I didn't want it and to take it away. That would explain the long time that it took to be delivered. In addition, I asked for a Coors light draft and the waitress said they only had bottles which I said was fine. However, she brought out a can. Sorry - who does that??? There's a difference. It gets better. Not only was the bill wrong, still showed the Turkey Club along with the $1 cheese charge. In addition, they included a 20% 'large' party tip. They consider 4 people a 'large party'. To make matters even worse.......when I asked to speak with a manager, he couldn't even hear/listen to what I was saying. He just kept saying the Turkey club was a 'cold' sandwich... Nobody wants rock hard/cold bread along with ice cold Turkey that was stuck together and folded in half...Not one person at any point apologized. I asked them to fix the bill and remove the 20% gratuity. They huddled around me with negative attitudes - the worst! It gets better.....I filled out a contact on line to have the owner call me but never heard back. I sent an email a week later and then got a call from the owner but he was as rude as the Manager. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. My intention was to call to give him a heads up that maybe he wasn't aware of what was going on in his shop, but he could care less. I didn't have a chance to also suggest to possibly clean/dust off the helmets above and the tops of the black tube/vents in the ceiling...Kinda grosse to look at while trying to eat. I stopped in for lunch this week. I had a decent time but there are a few things that need a little work. Let's call it attention to detail. So the sign on the sidewalk said 14 beers on draft. Once I sat at the bar I noticed that the inside sign had a few of the beer choices missing. So, silly me, I asked the bartender for a beer list. He looked around for a while and eventually told me he couldn't find it. Not them, it. Apparently there was only one list. Hmmmm. I did enjoy two IPAs. (Ram's Head & Evolution Lot #3) They were $7 and $7.50. That's high. Lots of competitors have lower prices. The managers should check that out. While I was sipping my first beer I was somewhat annoyed by the assault on my ears. Like most places these folks have both music and TVs. Both were turned up full blast. It was just a cacophony of sound. I watched some other patrons ask their server to fix it. They seemed clueless. Once again; it's attention to detail. While I was perusing the menu I was pleased to see a $6.00 Tuesday special menu. I ordered the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger for that price. It would normally have been $9. My meal arrived quickly and my burger was exceptional. It was juicy and flavorful and cooked just as I ordered. The fries were perfect. I would have elevated this simple meal to amazing except the bun was served cold. That's a shame. I hope it was a mistake. A patron sitting next to me made the same comment about his burger so I'm not the only one. It could be attention to detail once again. Stopped in for lunch with a client. Ordered the seared tuna tacos which came on my choice of corn or flour tortillas (corn), wasabi creama and red cabbage slaw. The tuna was prepared rare as I requested and the tacos were large enough to be a dinner portion. My wife wanted a burger and suggested we come here for a really early lunch. I had been here once before, but it didn't really leave a good or bad impression with me. So we arrived around 11:15 and someone sat us. He took our drink order and said our waitress would be by shortly I overheard the manager tell the waitress that they aren't suppose to open until 11:30. Our waitress came with our drinks and said that she would have to ask the kitchen if they would be able to take our order. WTF, lock the front door or have your employee tell us you are not open until 11:30. Well, she found out that she could take our order. My wife had the burger she wanted and the waitress recommended the chicken/strawberry panini with goat cheese. Although the panini was wrapped in what I think was a pita, the sandwich was tasty. I would have preferred a ciabatta, but ..... My sandwich was good, but the service environment I found to be somewhat discombobulating. So much so, it really lowers my score for the restaurant.
