I was really impressed with this great cafe right across the street from city hall. I needed somewhere to do my work while my car was worked on, and stayed for several hours. The people working here are super nice and the omlette I had was delicious. This is a suprising little gem in Red Bluff. This is a neat little lunch spot; stopped here on a girls' day and while we pretty much enjoyed it, it could've used a little improving, overall. Pros: - Cute place, clean and kept up. - Nice food presentation - Friendly staff Cons: - Two of our dishes took quite awhile to come out - Flavor was lacking in all 3 entrees that our table ordered: Chi Bowl was bland and rather unexciting, not enough flavor or dressing to help out. The Jamaican Chicken Jerk Bowl was also bland with flavor only coming from the spicy chicken. The rice in both bowls was gummy and was clumped together. Not enough dressing on either. The California Chicken Sandwich was enjoyable but again, not much flavor except for the spicy mayo they used. I had to add salt and pepper to both my sandwich and the accompanying tomato basil soup. The soup was also very bland until I added S&P. I'm still not sure why everything needed salt and pepper. It all had potential but just needed more seasoning and more generous dressing portions on the bowls. read more

Got a jerk chicken bowl, sad i was way too hungry to stop eating, even though i knew something tasted weird about the rice.. Came here for a hungry pit stop from Portland to San Jose, & about an hour later after we left this restaurant, i wasnt feeling good at all, my stomache was churning.. then 30mins after, we had to pull over a couple times due to me throwing up all that jerk chicken bowl. I threw up 3 times. Not sure if it was old rice or what, but it was soggy & tasted really off. I read another review on this page telling ppl NOT to get the jerk chicken bowl but i wish i saw it before i ordered it. DO listen & heed the signs! DONT get it! read more

I'm a wildland firefighter and frequently have to travel for work. I also am vegan so that makes eating on the road a hassle for myself as I don't want to impact my job. Kayla went above and beyond to make sure I got an amazing custom vegan burger and I couldn't appreciate that more. It's often difficult to find places that will accommodate and it really made my day to find somewhere that would do that for me. Thank you. This place is hard to rate. When the food is good, it's REALLY good. Used to be good most of the time, not sure what happened but now more often than not they fall short.. Especially on To-Go orders. They started charging $3.29 for French fries and they give you like 12 fries... My husband always orders chicken sandwiches and they have started using like a quarter of a chicken filet and it's not even enough to cover the whole sandwich. Most of the sandwich is bread. The bacon will be undercooked and almost raw... we order burgers well done and they come rare. Requested to speak to the manager and they offered me a free side of fries on my next order?? Umm no thanks I'll pass on the free 11 French fries . Couldn't even give me an email address for the manager..... read more

I love this place for lunch. I am from out of town and only come here for training. This is my number one spot for lunch. I've eaten here around ten times now, trying a different item each time, and every item has been very tasty. Highly recommend the Tab, teriyaki chicken bowl, and Tokyo steak bowl. We used to really like this place; but, the last 2 of 3 times we ordered food to go, the wait was EXCESSIVE. BOTH times when I inquired about our order, I was told "It's okay", and treated like I had done something wrong for asking about the order. It's NOT okay! By the time we got home (and we don't live far), our food was cold and soggy. Any business that does NOT value customer satisfaction is NOT a business we will continue to frequent. There are plenty of other businesses in town who are doing a good job of re-inventing themselves and working hard to retain customers and stay afloat during this especially trying time. Stopped by From The Hearth on a recent road trip. Upon entering the café, I noticed it was an invitingly large space with tons of seating (chairs, counter, tables, and booths) and a relaxed vibe. There were several choices of beverage, baked items, and sandwiches. The monte cristo caught my eye; this is one of those items that is extremely variable across restaurants--some deep fry the whole sammich (like Bennigan's) some pan fry it. The version here was turkey and ham topped with Swiss, served on sourdough, dipped in egg batter with a side of homemade raspberry mustard sauce. I noticed they bake their own bread too. I also ordered a regular drip coffee and an apple 'scruffin' to go. The monte cristo was good, I would stop short of saying it was the best I've ever eaten, but I liked the flavors. Importantly, it was not greasy. Served with French fries, it was filling and had a good amount of turkey on it. The raspberry jam that accompanied it balanced out the flavors nicely. The standout item for me was the scruffin; What is a scruffin you ask? It's a hybrid of scone, muffin, and cookie. It tasted freshly baked and buttery--I wish I had gotten two for the trip! Overall, a great place to grab a bite and seems like a good spot to hang out and chill over a cup of coffee. The location of the café is in Red Bluff and there is a great courthouse with some benches right outside so I could see taking your drink out there to enjoy the small-town atmosphere. read more

Went here today for the first time. Oh my gosh, so DISAPPOINTED The staff was not equipped to handle the lunch rush. I ordered to-go over the phone and it took me ten minutes to get to a cashier, due to the long lines. They did not have a specific to-go area unless you use an online payment method. I ordered Tri-tip panini with green chile. What I received was grilled burnt toast with some ground up meat and a few green flakes. I took a picture and posted it. I liked this place just as much as I disliked it if that makes any sense at all. The Cozy Diner had recently shut down so we needed a place to grab some breakfast. I consulted Yelp and the best looking choice was From the Hearth. We went on over and began our visit. It's not a table service restaurant like I thought it was and so you need to go up to the counter to order. The menu is pretty limited but the food is locally sourced with good quality ingredients. They are also a bakery and use only honey to sweeten their breads but the only pastries and cinnamon rolls etc.. that are available are the ones sitting on the counter by the register that are covered in flies. The prices were reasonable for a small town so we all ordered and sat down for breakfast. The food came out quickly but not all at the same time and the coffees were quite good. After breakfast, I was able to enjoy a 22oz bottle of Alpha Centauri IPA brewed by Hop Valley. I mean heck. I was still on vacation and subsequently not driving either so what the hey? If I ever find myself cruising through Red Bluff in the AM hours again, I will most likely stop in for some refreshment but since I live in Washington, that scenario is unlikely. If you live in Red Bluff or are passing by, make sure to give this little place some love. The food and drinks are worth it and they are doing a good thing for the community. Came to this Hearth location on its 2nd day open. I have been anxiously awaiting for them to open, as it has been one of my favorite breakfast/ coffee spots in Redding for a while! I have to say, it is just as amazing as expected. I used the mobile app to quickly order my food to pick up. Although they got my order wrong, even with the special instructions I added to the order, the food was delicious. I also think that when they do have long lines and are as busy as they are, maybe they should open both registers to accommodate people. I came here again today and just had to leave, the line was to the door and moving very slow! Also, even though I ordered through the app, I still had to wait in line for about 10 min, there was no one available to ask for help to just pick it up. read more

People that eat there and like it must have never ate at a good restaurant. People also talk about outstanding service. What service? You stand in line and order and then they bring the garbage to your table. Not sure that rates as any service. Ordered Bacon BBQ burger with kettle chips. The burger was so dry it hurt to swallow. One sure fire way to tell if a burger sucks. Nothing dripped off the burger. Not even bbq sauce and it was a BBQ bacon burger. Oh yeah, lets talk about the bacon. What bacon? Maybe 1 piece. These folks deserve 10 stars! They have a sign on the door, "If you've lost your house to the Carr fire, PLEASE let us know. We are your personal cooks for the next month. Your meals are on us." My lady and I were in line behind 2 King's County Battalion chief's waiting to order breakfast. The firefighters money was NOT accepted! They dined for free courtesy of the owner. This is what humanity is about. By the way, the Eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly. The Alfresco Bowl was amazing. Coffee and tea were excellent. I had the apple muffin which was fresh and flavorful. The decor is comfortable with LOTS of plugs and seats for working on a laptop. The staff were super friendly and accommodating to special requests. Music was pleasant and the volume quiet enough for me to get some writing done. Lots of cute tchotchke's and regional posters on the walls too. Prices were standard. If you find yourself driving Interstate 5 through Red Bluff, CA, do stop. You won't be disappointed. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to do so in this case to note how fantastic this place is- both in terms of the amazing food and the amazing people working here, who really went above and beyond in helping us out. Food - we got the Umami burger, the K&P burger, and the steak salad, and would recommend all 3. The Umami burger was really flavorful (per the name). The K&P burger was also a win; the tomato jam in particular added a unique flavor and texture to it. The chipotle dressing on the steak salad was on the heavier side, but if you like dressing-forward salads, you'll enjoy this one- it was both generously sized and delicious. People - we unfortunately left a backpack at the restaurant and then proceeded to drive several hours home before realizing. One of the managers, Laura, was gracious enough to take it to the post office and send it back to us, effectively saving our family vacation. I stopped in here for lunch/brunch last weekend. The restaurant is bright, clean and has lots of seating as well as a communal table. I had the vegetable omelet and it was amazing! The vegetables are fresh, it wasn't oily, and the dish was piping hot! They make the bread in house and it's delicious. They also sell a variety of other yummy baked goods. I would highly recommend this restaurant over the Trident for breakfast or lunch based on the high quality of the food! read more

So I don't usually leave five stars but this was just amazing. We got the pulled pork tacos, not so fired chicken sandwich, a tomato basil soup and of course a coke. My fav was the pesto on the sandwich and the Chabatta bread. I couldn't stop humming to how delicious it was. Of course James was at the front when we walked in and he helped us. The last time 2 times I got food from here it was very disappointing. I got a wrap and the chicken was over cooked, cold, and tasted of a dirty dishrag. They also put way too many crispy noodles, not enough other ingredients and not enough sauce. Disgusting. Another time I got a sandwich and the meat was dry and overcooked like it had been sitting on the stove all day. My fries were cold and they didn't give me the ranch I paid for. I only tend to review places that I recommend, or that are awful. In between places feels like I'm just giving them a hard time, which isn't fair. So this place definitely falls into the "recommend" category. Several reasons: 1. Location - Red Bluff is right on the I-5 and this place was literally minutes from the Freeway. I drive from Oregon to LA regularly and I'm a vegetarian who is also Gluten Free. Restaurants serving good veggie GF options with a nice vibe are truly hard to find, especially so along the I-5 corridor. 2. Gluten Free - I ordered the 'fresh vegetable omlet with gluten free toast and a side of home fries'. The food was not greasy, the veggies were fresh, the toast was Schr brand, the portion sizing was good. 3. Service - The waitress was really polite and nice. The chef bought my food to my table. 4. Ambience - Cool, café atmostphere with great 1950s BLM style retro posters on the wall in an old brick building that had been refurbished. Not too busy at 0830am on a weekday, but obviously had a handful of local customers as there were a dozen other people in there. Large variety of condiments available. Super clean restrooms. Outdoor seating available too. I wish I'd tried their coffee. 5. $10.99, plus tip 6. OVERALL: I will definitely come here again and likely make it a regular stop if the timing permits. read more

I love this place. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing. The staff is nice. I believe they currently have staff from the Redding locations here training some of the Red Bluff staff....because some people didn't seem to quite understand everything. Honestly, the only negative thing I can say is that the prices are higher than they should be. We spent $21 on a large hot white mocha, medium ice white mocha and a breakfast sand which to share! Something they need to work on..... GET WIFI!!!!! They would have a lot more people hanging out and maybe getting refills if they stayed longer due to having wifi. Excited to go back. read more
