Had a great experience at the Frontera Grill. I love the decor - colorful without being garish, brightlly colored tiles and planters add a very festive feel to the place now. Salsa comes in a carafe and, since each person gets his own little dipping dish to pour the salsa into, there's no reason not to double-dip! My beef fajitas were delicious, as was my friend's ground beef quesadilla. The lunch menu had some interesting quesadilla combinations, along with other tasty sounding dishes. We enjoyed lunch at Frontera Grill and decided we WILL be back for dinner. The restaurant is CLEAN, and decorated in a very friendly Mexican style. We had soft pork tacos, chili rellenos, and chicken enchiladas. All excellent. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Chili Rellenos are hard to make, and the Frontera did an excellent job...not mushy...very crispy and filled with a delicious cheese. The chips were fresh & warm although I don't think they make them on-site (most restaurants don't anyway). The salsa was fresh and mild...good but just a bit too thin for my taste. I prefer a chunky/spicy salsa but it was still good. The service was good too. I'm giving 3-stars because the Frontera Grill beats most restaurants we've tried here in Western Mass for the price/value/freshness. We prefer "Sonoran Style" mexican food...this is probably as close as you can get to that here in Chicopee. Best Wishes Frontera! read more

The staff is very friendly, from start to finish. Things usually move pretty quickly, and the servers are very professional. The chips and salsa are great- though sometimes I wish the salsa was a bit more chunky. The food is great, I've tried a few different dishes and haven't been disappointed- save for the Arroz con Pollo, which was chicken with vegetables- peppers, mushrooms, etc, served over rice. It sounded fabulous, but the vegetables were mushy and the rice was covered in cheese and grease- but all of the burritos and fajitas, etc, that I've had have been great. Been there many times and found the menu superb. At one time went there again, there was a waiting list, so sat on the bar side and we totally ignored for quite some time! Very frustrating! Hope the bar side has improved, hire more help read more

Forget about "on the border" with their chain restaurant frozen food... Frontera grill is packed every time I go there and for good reason. Not too many places to choose from for a sit down restaurant in Chicopee but this place takes the cake. Mango chicken quesadillas and a long list of flavored margaritas. I've had better Mexican. The rice taste like uncle bens. It was so mushy and the taste was not good. Not to mention the amount of flies that were swarming our table. The waitress was nice enough to bring me a new plate of food after a fly landed on my taco. By then I had lost my appetite. It's definitely not worth the price. I only came here because someone had recommended it but it was a disappointment. Never again. Forgot to also mention the homeless person standing near the entrance asking for money. Being from CA, I can say that I've had some of the best Mexican food north of the border. Frontera was good for MA. The guacamole cart was the best part - and the mariachi band (but I've always loved the music). Enchiladas were ok. A little doughy and didn't care for the white sauce. Tacos ok as well, though ground hamburger was never a filling favorite with the 'locals' in my neighborhood. House margaritas are average - would have liked a cadillac variety. Overall, not too shabby, but you can bet I'll be heading for Roberto's when I land in San Diego!!!! read more

OK so things have changed since my last review about a year ago. Things of changed pretty much for the worst..... Since my last review I have been to Frontera Grill several times and each time was a slight disappointment which led up to yesterday's huge disappointment to which I will never return back to this restaurant ever again. OK so let's discuss the wings in the beginning when I first went to this restaurant last year the fried wings were out of this world then I noticed on another visit to the restaurant that the wings were not so well they were not as fresh they tasted as if they were pre-breaded frozen bone in wings and out of one of those boxes that you get from the supermarket not to mention the freezer taste that it had that came along with it. So now my experience yesterday with the wings was beyond horrible I ordered wings hoping that maybe they changed back to the original recipe but boil boy was I surprised when they came out with boneless wings. So I told the waitress that I preferred wings with the bone and she told me they no longer serve that so I decided to try the boneless wings and what a mistake that was....... The boneless wings tasted as if there were bars of salt dipped in barbecue sauce horrible horrible horrible the meet was beyond dry as well.WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TRADITIONAL WINGS The batter fried chili pepper was not the best at all it tasted as if it had been fried three hours ago and was just sitting there no Bueno!!!!!!!! The waiter was just as horrible I asked him if he had any spicy salsa for the tortilla chips what a mistake that was he brought back some salsa then told me that there was no more hot salsa left which is hard to believe so I settled for the regular salsa which was no good it wasn't like the salsa recipe in the past the salsa in the past had all kinds of chunks of onion cilantro and spices but this salsa had a couple of specs of spices couple pieces of onion and seemed like it was watered down of some sort horrible horrible horrible not like I know it to be which is chunky. The worst part of the story is the following day after eating this food I ended up getting ill and spending a lot of time in the bathroom so I'm sorry but I will not be visiting the restaurant ever again. read more

Had dinner with friends. We all liked our meals and the frozen margaritas are huge and tasty and not very strong which works for me. The best part of the meal is the fresh guacamole that is made right at your table. We will surely go back when we are in the area. read more

I just had dinner here with my boyfriend. We had a very poor first experience. Our waitress didn't introduce herself. She asked what we'd like to drink without giving us a drink menu. I ordered my dinner and was given something I didn't order instead of the waitress telling me they didn't have what I ordered. I was charged for something else I didn't order and it was not taken off the bill. Beans were gross. The texture of the rice made it seem like it'd been sitting around a while. I was not offered to choose another menu item even though the manager came over to the table. My boyfriend asked if cheese came with the fajitas, we were told no and the waitress and manager ran off without giving him a chance to order a side of cheese. Definitely will NOT be going here again or recommending this establishment to anyone. Does not even deserve the one star I gave in this review, but I felt like being generous. read more

If this place can keep up their standards, I think they will be successful for a long time. The interior has a nice design, the waiters were nice and we had chips and salsa on our table within thirty seconds of sitting down. I ordered the street tacos and they were some of the best tacos I have ever had, authentic double wrapped soft shell tacos with all the toppings you could want with them. I thought the prices seemed a little high, but if they keep everything high quality that should be fine. The other two people with us had problems with their meals, one was probably an honest mistake and the other was with the quesadillas. The manager (I think he was a manager) was not helpful at all when we stated our problems, if it wasn't for my tacos this would definitely be a 2-3 star review. Another waiter just happened to stop by later and even he seemed more helpful than the "manager." Overall, order the tacos and have a great time with the waitstaff. read more

I'm from Northern California and have lived in Western Massachusetts for 6 years. I've been searching for real Mexican food since I moved here and have always been disappointed. I couldn't even find a good Mexican Food restaurant in Northampton which has a lot of great places to eat. My server was Frederique who was AMAZING! I immediately told him my situation and he did not disappoint. I got a combo plate with an enchilada, tamale and chimichanga and of course rice and beans and it was amazing. You can always tell how a Mexican food restaurant is going to be right away from their salsa. Frontera's salsa was delicious. It had just the right amount of heat and spices. My fabulous waiter brought me a super hot salsa too that I loved. This place brought back so many memories of fun dinners with my girlfriends of 30+ years and my twin sister back home in California. I moved to the area recently, and I've been here three times already. It's not nearly as hard to navigate as others might have you believe. I've eaten here two Friday nights and one Saturday lunch. The service has been good to very good depending on the night. I've had nothing but good food. Most aspects are on par with what one might expect from a Mexican restaurant : rice, beans, chips, salsa. However, their pork carnitas tacos were excellent. First time here tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it! Guacamole was good, salsa was just fair. My husband had the Rocky Mountain soup, very flavorful and spicy. My friend had the tortilla soup, milder than the Rocky Mountain with pieces of avocado in it, very tasty. All of or entrees were very good. Good sangria too! About the only complaint I have is for the parents of the SCREAMING toddler seated across from us: take him outside, no one wants to hear his piercing screams while they eat. First of all, difficult to find the entrance. Inside is just ok, seemed a bit unclean. On the plus side the food came out very quickly. Super hot and reasonably priced.
