Do NOT fly Frontier into Austin. They are in a separate terminal (South Terminal) that makes you go outside to get on or off a plane so you are subject to rain or hot summer sun for long periods. Add to that it is a 20 minute bus ride away from the main terminal, and the bus service is terrible and there is no shade at all while waiting at the bus stop! We had to wait out in the heat and summer sun for over 30 minutes for a bus to even come, and when it did the bus was barely air conditioned, so it took almost an hour of sweltering heat just to get to the main terminal so we could catch the shuttle to our hotel. Some of that is the fault of the Airport, rather than Frontier, but if Frontier won't demand better service and accommodations for its customers, that's still their fault! read more

We are just starting to look for a good Attorney to sue Frontier. our Granddaughter, Grandson, and great granddaughter was flying back from Austin to Denver with my Granddaughters service dog and after scanning their tickets at the gate and them headed to board the Witch at the gate told my granddaughter she didn't think she was disabled and made all of them miss the flight. she had papers from the doctor and government making the dog a service dog. Have mixed feelings about this airline. Went in with very low expectations. Mostly because of the terrible reviews I read prior to trying Frontier. But, I decided to give it a shot because of the low fares. $87 from DC to Austin. Not too bad. Great price at which I was willing to sacrifice some comfort and luxury. It's bare bones. Don't expect nothing more. I can understand why many people have given such low ratings. Much of which can be assigned to poor customer service. While passing the check-in desk, I could hear the service agents speak rudely to customers. They looked like they hated their jobs. The woman at the door spoke in a harsh tone. After being seated, I noticed there was a seating issue. As the flight attendant was addressing the situation, the door woman came on board and nearly got into an argument with the flight attendant. At one point, she yelled loudly to the entire plane, "Do anybody wanna move seats?" She continues to intensely converse with the flight attendant before storming off the plane. THERE OUGHT TO BE A NO STAR RATING CHOICE JUST FOR FRONTIER AIRLINES !! Only once before in my life have I written a bad review and I'll be 77 years old next month. That's a long time without getting upset enough to speak out. I started flying FRONTIER AIRLINES almost 20 years ago because they had a direct flight between Tampa and Denver where I go to ski every winter. Frontier has never been a favorite airline, but I was willing to endure inconveniences for the sake of having a direct flight. NO LONGER !! Even if I have to make inconvenient connecting flights and if I have to pay twice as much, I will to avoid FRONTIER. In Austin, Texas, Frontier has their gates at runways that are not part of the airport. If you have to return a rent-a-car at the airport, as I did, you are not at the Austin airport. I'm sure FRONTIER made this arrangement to save airport fees. I must have just missed the shuttle that I needed to take to get to FRONTIER'S tarmac. I waited 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive and then the driver wouldn't take off until he had enough passengers, so we waited another 10 to 15 minutes. The drive to what's called South Terminal takes 15 minutes. If one knew this, one would add an extra hour to their pre-flight time. FRONTIER made no effort to let their passengers know to plan accordingly. After a frustrating extra hour, I arrived at South Terminal. The FRONTIER employee behind the ticket counter knew I was running late, but made no effort to let the FRONTIER employee at the gate know I would arrive in 2 minutes. Most airlines close their doors 10 minutes before taking off. Frontier closes their doors 15 minutes before take-off, but this time, they closed the door 17 minutes before take off. It was frustrating to see the plane sitting on the runway with the ramp still in place for the next 12 to 15 minutes and not be allowed to get on. Since FRONTIER has lousy flight times, I was told I would be able to be put on another flight leaving Austin in about 14 hours and that I would arrive the next day in Tampa. I chose to forfeit what I paid for my airline ticket and I was accommodated by American Airlines, but missed a meeting I had in Florida which was costly for me. I ended up arriving in Tampa seven hours after my scheduled arrival on Frontier. I had a FRONTIER credit card. After this experience, I called and closed my FRONTIER credit card. My wife, father, and I traveled to Austin for my niece's wedding. On the day of our departure, our ride to the airport had to leave much earlier than us, so we figured we'd just spend a few extra hours at the airport. Unfortunately, the ticketing agent told us (coldly, rudely) that although she could check us in, she could not take our luggage until two hours prior to our flight. This meant we could not go though security, which further meant that we were stuck on the pre-security side of the airport, with virtually nothing to occupy our time. There are zero options for hot food on the pre-security side of the Austin airport. So, what does Frontier do if someone comes through the airport on a layover of more than two hours? Make them collect their baggage, and then re-check it? I would think not, and when I posed this question to the ticketing agent, she responded by saying "I can't take your bags now." Initially there was a 3 hour delay with our flight out of AUS, then it was reported that they "found a plane" and we would be on our way a little sooner, but ultimately our plane and two other Frontier flights were cancelled with no explanation offered to the customers. One flight from Atlanta stopped in Austin on their way to Ontario and was cancelled once everyone was off the plane. They offer Frontier vouchers (yipee) and make you purchase tickets through their website (which couldn't handle the traffic) in order for them to track your purchase and send you the money (up to $400) within two weeks. ADVICE: Don't bother with the customer service in the airport, and go straight to the 1-800 number. Be nice and prove that the options they put forth (e.g.: website) don't work as intended and they will help. Was unable to plan a trip within the 90 days allotted on the voucher they gave to "make up" for canceling my previous flight. When I went to use it it said there was no Monday on the voucher. Sent an email to Frontier customer service asking that as a customer courtesy, considering the awful experience I previously had with them, which necessitated them giving me a travel voucher in the first place, If they could please reissue me this travel voucher, or issue me a new travel voucher. My husband and I missed our Frontier flight early Sunday morning (8/19) from Denver to Austin. Our flight was to leave at 725am and we arrived at the airport at 550am. The line to check-in and check baggage was so ridiculously long, we did not get to the front to speak to someone/check our baggage until 723am!!!!! Think of the seats at a bus stop and then go one step above. - Seats do not recline. - Teeny tiny seats such that my knees were against the seat in front of me. I am 5'9". - Teeny tiny tray tables are too small to be useful. - Second flight arrived 20 minutes late, despite taking off on time. May have been due to traffic control needs, and not Frontier, though this hasn't happened to me before when weather was fine. In sum, what bothered me most were the surprise fees for everything. I was shocked to learn I had to pay at least $11 each way in addition to the ticket I'd bought to actually sit down on the plane, which unfortunately the Federal Aviation Administration requires you do. It was just weird because I thought a seat is what the ticket paid for. I was also disappointed to learn that even carry-on's cost money. Think about it - Unless you're able to fit all of your travel necessities in a small backpack or purse, add $72 to the ticket price you're quoted online. She found out the flight was cancelled via an email that said "sorry your Travel plans didn't go as planned" and offered $200 voucher for future flight if booked in next 90 days. It never said your flight was canceled so she checked the board that now listed her flight as canceled. (Yes, she was already in the airport.) To top things off, there was no one to talk to or help her with her now canceled reservation and they're only offering a $400 refund which is less than what she paid. I only gave 1 star because a zero is not available. First, I had a flight that was leaving at 9:15 am, I was at the airport three hours early, and yet Frontier baggage drop off was super slow. Lines were wrapped around the corner. The agent advised us to go outside to the drop off area and we stood in line for 2.5 hours. By the time we made it to the drop off agent, we missed our flight. We were booked on another flight the next morning, because it was not a flight available the same day. We were told to get to the airport at least 4 hours prior to our flight, and we did just that. This trip took place on 18 September 2022. The original booking was departing Seattle at 11:15 AM, 1-hour layover in Las Vegas then on to Austin Texas. Within 24 hours of booking, a change was made. Flight now departs at 9:34 AM, 5.5-hour layover in Las Vegas then on to Austin. I call and explain this won't work and that I need a refund. I was refused. They claim that the change was less than 2 hours so the best they could do was give me a credit. I explain how about the 5.5-hour layover in Las Vegas and they state that does not count. I did not accept the credit because I will never fly with this airline again. I show up in Seattle and am greeted with a two-hour wait in security. We barely make the flight but we arrive in Vegas. In Vegas, we begin to get flight delays. The flight was due to depart at 5:30 PM, then 5:45, 6:30, 7:30, 8:06, and 8:30, we finally leave at 9:05 PM. We don't get into Austin, Texas until 2:30 AM local time. They drop us in a closing south terminal 10 minutes drive from the main terminal with no shuttles. Finally, one shuttle is running only able to take 21 passengers. So 80 minutes later we arrive at the main terminal. It took 3 more hours to drive home so we did not get back until 6:30 AM on September 19th. Both my wife and I lost a day of work. I made multiple attempts to contact the airline but they are difficult to contact and do not care about their customers. Additionally, if you think you can save money with Frontier, think again. They have up charges for everything like Seats, Carry-on luggage, checked luggage, water, food, etc....By God, don't fart they might charge you for it. By the way, no plugs, WIFI, or charging ports anywhere. To make matters uncomfortable as possible, the seats don't recline and feel like they are made of plywood. Let the buyer beware. I've flown Frontier twice to Vegas and both flights were delayed leaving, but one actually arrived earlier than scheduled. If you are returning a rental car, you will be at the main terminal and need to get the shuttle bus to the South Terminal. The bus stop area is located in the walkway, after leaving rental car area and before main terminal. I was able to get the shuttle when it was about to leave (took last seat available) and from door to door, it took 20 minutes to go from main to south terminal so plan accordingly. You will still have to wait in line at the counter to check in luggage and go thru security. Here's my time line: Dropped off rental car at 3:25, walked to terminal and grabbed shuttle at 3:35, arrived at South terminal at 3:55, was sitting at gate by 4:20. Tuesday. The key to flying Frontier is to know the rules before hand in terms of what qualifies as luggage, carry on and personal items or the fees will rack up. Purchase these in advance (when buying ticket). My tickets cost about $100 with paying my ticket several weeks in advance and then purchasing the works or bundle (which pays for the carryon, luggage and seat). Both tickets were cheaper than any other airline except Spirit which is similar in cost structure. I always bring my own water bottle and snacks since this also will cost you $. Seats were just okay and tray seems to sit lower so can't cross legs and have seat tray up at same time. Those who sit in rows 1 and 2 have to place bags in a row farther back because there is no overhead space available. Seems like row 3 had no way to recline seats. Research how to best fly Frontier and you will lower your expectations but save $ on your wallet. I fly mostly on American and Delta. read more

Not bad for direct flights from Austin to Las Vegas using their A320. We paid $900 for 4 ppl return, that includes checked bag and seat fees that we paid during booking (standard seats, not reclined), during peak times too (Dec 23-Dec 27). I have not seen the miniature trays, at least not on our flights. The flight attendants were nice and courteous on both flights and we get to our destination on time. I really couldn't find any faults. No frills...yeah...but we brought our own snacks and drinks, no big deal at all. Overall I will fly with Frontier again. Their app is so easy to use too. A la cart fees are extremely high paid $163.00 for 1 bag both ways and seat assignment and more $$$ if you want your seat to recline. If you want water on the flight that will cost you $2.99 if you want a snack that starts at $3.99. By the time all was said and done I could have flown Southwest Airlines for less checked two bags, had a large reclining seat with TV and water and snacks at no additional charge... First, and LAST time use this crappy airline. If i can give 0 star or negative star, I will!!!! I booked FA through Chase freedom reward program back in early March for my upcoming trip in mid June. So if I need to check in one luggage for a round trip, it will cost me another $70 per person. What on earth they are trying to do? Seat selection is useless, they are just trying to get more money from people, how greedy. They will lose more and more customers in the long way.... Bad customer service, they are not helpful at all when I called... I am very disappointed that I made this bad decision choosing Frontier. I am scared as well for our soon coming trip with this airline..... Lesson learned and I will NEVER use this airline again. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would!!! We arrived at the Austin Airport in plenty of time to make our flight to Denver. We were on the shuttle to be taken to the South Terminal where Frontier Airlines was. We were the first ones to the shuttle, and were greeted by Charles, the driver. We waited about 15 minutes as the shuttle continued to fill. I heard a female voice over the 2-way radio tell the driver to wait until 1:35 before moving. We continued to wait until my wife said "Charles, we would like to make our flight today!" Charles, who was out on the sidewalk, stuck his head in the door and said, "What time is your flight?" Everyone on the bus, (12 more people besides us) responded in unison, "2:30!". Charles looked at his watch and said, "You'll be alright, we still have a few empty seats. We are going to give it a few more minutes." Everyone on the bus looked at each other in disbelief. After waiting the few more minutes, and no one else getting on the bus, Finally, Charles got on the bus and we headed to the south terminal. Once there, we all jumped off the shuttle and headed in to the terminal. We could see the airplane, and the passengers were just beginning up the ramp to board. The person at the gate said that we were too late, and he refused to check us in. He said we had to be there 30 minutes prior to the flight. The flight was at 2:26PM, and I was standing at the counter at 1:40pm. I told him, we were there 30 minutes prior to the flight. He said, "No you aren't." and continued to argue with me about it. Literally, Zero Shits given. This was the worst customer service experience ever. He offered to book me on another flight that left the next night, with a 7 hour layover in Las Vegas which would get me into Denver 2 days later...and for that, he would charge an additional $130/person. After explaining my situation, he at one point said..."Not my problem." At the end of the day, there were 12 people, plus my family of 3 that didn't get on the flight that we paid for because of the shuttle driver waiting too long, and this guy wouldn't let us check in. I ended up having to rent a car on a one way rental for $400, and drive 15 hours to Ft. Collins Colorado because they would not let us on the flight to Denver. This is horrible customer service, and I am requesting some compensation. read more

No customer service...never asked security questions when we checked in. The line in AUS to Las Vegas....waited 45 min. Plane disgusting..inside...the seats are made out of metal...no armrest... Water is NOT complimentary...1 check bag is 50 dollars....this airline needs to be AUDITED. read more

You ever take a flight sitting on a lawn chair? But wait a minute at least the lawn chair can recline unfortunately Frontiers so called upgrade to seats in the exit aisle doesn't allow you to recline so you can stretch your legs while you sit up straight. The seats were as thin as lawn chairs except theres no give to these seats. In Austin you have the luxury of getting on the plane at a small backlot seperated from the main terminal by about a 10 minute bus ride. Don't fly Frontier its not worth it ro save money. read more

I guess if you step onto a plane with a crappy attitude, you might just get some of that back. My experience on both flights with Frontier were so great! BIG fun on the first flight with Melissa and Daniele (one "L"!) on the flight to Denver last Thursday (9.29)............they made it a blast with their humor. It was a great experience!!! read more
