My experience with Frontier was disappointing from start to finish. The customer service at check-in and during boarding felt passive-aggressive and unprofessional. Instead of helping passengers, staff seemed more interested in publicly shaming people over bag sizes and carry-on policies. Multiple times, employees used the microphone to call out passengers for having the "wrong" bags in a tone that felt condescending rather than informative. During boarding, staff would interrogate passengers about what type of seat they purchased, as if it somehow justified how they were being treated. The entire process felt hostile and unnecessarily confrontational. I understand that airlines have policies, but there is a respectful way to enforce them. Frontier's staff made customers feel like an inconvenience rather than paying passengers. Traveling is stressful enough without being embarrassed or talked down to in front of a crowd. There are plenty of airlines that manage to enforce rules while still treating people with dignity. This was my first -- and absolutely my last -- experience flying with Frontier. I was traveling with the exact baggage allowed: one backpack (smaller than the permitted dimensions), my laptop bag, and a small fabric pouch worn cross-body that contained essential medications -- nitroglycerin, an asthma inhaler, and my pill case -- plus a tiny wallet with my ID. At the gate, an agent aggressively insisted that this small medical pouch counted as a "third bag." I explained calmly what it was and why I needed it, but he gave me two choices: pay for it or throw it away. Those are not choices for a passenger carrying life-saving medication. In the rush, I tried to stuff the pouch into my backpack. The zipper got caught on a piece of clothing and tore. Now the bag would not close properly. They then forced me to put it in the baggage sizer, and because it wasn't closing, I had to literally force it down. When it didn't slide in "easily," they told me to go back, fix it, or pay. At this point my blood pressure was through the roof. I was humiliated, stressed, and nearly missed my flight. In fact, I was the last passenger to board. No passenger should be treated this way, especially over a tiny pouch holding medication that clearly doesn't fall under "excess luggage." The staff was rude, inflexible, and showed zero compassion or common sense. On my return trip, I flew with Spirit -- and the difference was night and day. Friendly, reasonable, and professional. I had a terrible experience with Frontier Airlines on September 1, 2025, flying from Indianapolis to Tampa (Flight 4960). As one of the last to board (Zone 3), I was stopped at the gate by an extremely rude staff member who demanded to see my boarding pass, then immediately told me I had "too many bags" because I had a small crossbody purse in addition to a backpack. I was forced to cram the purse into the backpack, which made it too bulky--and was then told that now I had to pay $99 for a second personal item. I had zero time to question or resolve this because they were closing the gate. The same bag setup caused no issues at all on my flight from Tampa just days earlier, so this felt arbitrary and predatory. This wasn't a misunderstanding--it felt like extortion at the gate. I had no warning, no consistency, and no real choice. Between the rude staff, inconsistent policies, and last-minute fees, this was by far the worst airline experience I've had. I've flown budget airlines before and understand the model--but this was just shady. I'll never fly Frontier again, and I'll be sharing this experience everywhere I can to warn others. read more

Three for three flights in a row cancelled. Arrive at airport. Wait. 15 minutes before boarding the flight is cancelled. Gate sign says flight cancelled. No help to be found. No one answering the phones. Few days later get a refund with a $100 voucher. This same thing happened to me, my son and my wife. All on different days at different airports. Had a flight from Las Vegas. Price was reasonable even after paying to pick a seat and paid for carryon and a checked bag. The flight was delayed an hour and a half for some maintenance. That can happen to any airline. They were giving vouchers for 5 people to give up their seat. People got on the plane then they had to move people off. Double booked seats plus people had boarding passes for row 31 and there wasn't a 31st row . How does that even happen? Luckily people were calm and nice. Flight attendants were pleasant. The seats are VERY uncomfortable!!! Laptop backpack doesn't even fit all the way under the seat. The seat back trays are about 3"x6" and metal. That was a one and done for us. read more

Indianapolis & Denver locations: Frontier has a new policy of they do not staff their check in areas continuously and will not let you check a bag in if it is within 45 mins of your flight. They also seem to under staff their check in areas and set up arbitrary times for you to check in your bags. They will make you miss your own flight if you don't meet their ridiculous time schedules. TL;DR seems like frontier is cutting corners and customers are missing flights because of their choices. I won't be flying frontier air anytime in the near future. read more

I missed my flight due to me sleeping at the airport because of my medication I was at the airport I woke up it was 3:07pm the flight left at 3:02pm it was gone. When checking in online, boarding passes can't be printed. This requires a "stand in line" with only two people to check baggage and print boarding passes. Use the check-in self service kiosk, good idea but none of them are working. Hope the planes are maintained better than the website. Oh, yeah, the seats don't recline and with all of the fees and fees that are added on for every little thing you don't really save any money but you gain plenty of aggravation. We politely asked the flight attendant for flight F9 602 she had ( dark hair black glasses ) to see if we could rush off the flight so we can get to our next flight. Frontier was a little cheaper than the other airlines so I thought I'd try it. Remember, you get what you pay for and you pay for what you get! They charged me for everything, including water that is generally complimentary on any flight. On my return trip, storms necessitated my flight get canceled. - That isn't their fault - however, they refused to help comp any hotels or food and after a 2 hour wait on a phone call to customer (on which I was very polite and patient) they hung up me. I called back, which was another 2 hour wait, I was still fairly polite and still made no progress; they even refused to comp me a water on my return flight. It was three days of living in a busy airport on the other side of the country and more money than I could afford later before I got home; I never got my complimentary water. read more

The staff at the gate was very rude to multiple customers, including but not limited to, me. They had already barked at me to check if my perfectly reasonably sized carry on would fit in the provided compartment. I obliged, sliding my bag easily into the slot. I waited until I could get one of the gate agent's attention, whereupon she came over and physically checked it herself, then told me "yeah, it's fine." I went back to the seats to wait for my zone to board. When my zone 4 was announced and I got to the *same*agent who had checked the size of my bag not more than 10 minutes ago, she again asked me to check to see if my bag would fit. I politely (truly. I was) told her I had already checked it and that *she* had already said it was fine. She looked at me as if I was lying to her, at which time my companion spoke up and said "we're not doing it again." Yes, I realize this was rude but we were irritated. She rolled her eyes and waved us off, and we boarded where my bag *easily* slid into the overhead bin. The flight attendants were much nicer, and the flight itself was fine, but first impressions go a long way, and this 3-person gate agent impression was deplorable. Their Indianapolis counter was staffed by one employee who disappeared to the gate to board passengers, leaving three of us behind. Upon her return about an hour later, I learned my only options were to buy another full-price ticket on another airline or wait until the next day's Frontier flight. That's right, they only had one flight that day from Indy to Denver. As a result, I missed an important meeting, had to pay $50-75 to change my Frontier arrangements, lost out on my hotel and rental car guarantees. WOW! If I could give them a zero rating, I would. One star is too generous. They changed my flight so that the first flight left later and my connecting flight left earlier and failed to tell me this. I confirmed my return flight when my trip started (frontier was return only, took united for departing flight to Nola) and found the error myself - even on the "my flights" confirmation page there was no alert or anything. Called them and have spent already easily 10+ hours on the phone with them. Terrible service. They hire people who can hardly speak English and they put me on the "next available" connecting flight, which was 22 hours after I landed at the connecting airport. Zero compensation, zero accommodations, zero meal vouchers. Called customer relations where I was on hold for 3 hours and 5 minutes before someone picked up and he referred to some "compensation matrix" which he refused to let me see and said he could offer me a $30 voucher bc this was classified as a "mere inconvenience." Just the tip of the iceberg. Asked for voucher to be emailed to me, woman (speaking to a diff rep) said she confirmed it was just emailed to me and I asked her to tell me what my email address was and she responded "oh. Looks like we don't have your email address on file." This is just the tip of the iceberg. I can't justify spending any more time on them. Two round trip tickets from Indianapolis to Denver cost $356.42. Great deal, right? WRONG!!!! That didn't include all of the hidden charges. ALL CARRY ON BAGS cost $30.00/EACH . . . BOTH WAYS!!!!! YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PICK YOUR SEATS!!!!!!! $13.00/EACH for standard seats. Up to $35/EACH FOR SEATS WITH MORE LEG ROOM. CAN'T BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PICK YOUR SEATS!!!! If you are travelling with a small child you have to make sure your seats are together so you have to pay. Total ticket cost: $356.00 (up front charge) $86.00 (two carry on bags @$30/each and two standard seats at $13/each-Indy to Denver) $76.00 (two checked bags at $25/each and two standard seats at $13/each-Denver to Indy) __________ $518.00 I could have booked a much cheaper flight with Southwest or another airline with NO CARRY ON BAGGAGE FEES. On the flight from Indy to Denver we were supposed to be served a MEAL. We had to choose our meal when we made the reservation. I'm travelling with a four year old child so we didn't eat dinner assuming we would eat on the plane. WRONG!!!! Frontier didn't serve a meal but tried to SELL food, drinks and a credit card. the planes are small, but the staff are all well-mannered, polite, and friendly. unlike most other airlines, they do not give you that look like you're a pain in the butt when you ask them to do something that is in their job requirement! upon boarding the plane, each guest is greeted, and upon exiting, each guest is thanked. they offer two rounds of complimentary beverages, and they even give everyone on the plane a free, fresh baked (yes, in the plane) chocolate chip cookie! if not for anything else, i will book with them again just for the cookie lol! when you enter the plane there is a picture of a wild animal, and the poster will say "today you are flying with (animal's name)." frontier airlines' slogan is "we're a whole different animal", but even that can't guarantee that the beast sitting next to you won't have bo (that's when you wish everyone used dial soap). read more

PLEASE NOTICE THE 5 STARS ARE FROM YEARS AGO!!! Unless your ticket is hundreds of dollars cheaper, I will not be flying Frontier again. My fiancé, her sister, and I had 12 consistently bad flight experiences within a week on separate flights. Flight attendents are highly unprofessional (sweatshirts and look like they just rolled out of bed) and pushy to the point of where you feel like cattle. Your connection times are too short (to save money I'm guessing) which we would have missed half our flights if the next ones weren't also late. One flight was delayed 2 hours due to mechanical issues (understandable), but we weren't even offered a complimentary beverage. A pop or a cup of coffee has to cost less than 10 cents and you have an airplane full of 200 highly ticked off people. I've never experienced such scrutiny of bag sizes just so I have to pay $20 to check the bag that I know fits in the overheads of most Airbus and Boeing aircraft because I've done it before (not to mention they're going to start charging for carry-ons). The whole Frontier experience feels cheap, rushed, and impersonal. In the end, I'll save myself the headache and fly with the airlines I know take better care of their customers. Naming the animal on the tail of the plane is cute, but unless Frontier makes some serious marketing and PR changes, I only see it going the way of so many other airlines past. read more
