Okay I will admit there are times when I roll my eyes when places advertise their great "gelato"- as gelato literally translates into "ice cream" in Italian. It's ice cream! However, this does not apply to Frost. They import all of their ingredients (except milk and sugar) from Italy, and their gelato is made fresh daily, in true Italian style. You can taste the difference, and the care put into each batch! I love their presentation as well, each flavor is displayed beautifully. It's a bit pricy, but you're welcome to sample flavors before you commit! My personal favorite right now is hazelnut, if you're a Nutella fan I'd give it a try. :) read more

Very delicious gelato flavors from peach, fig, chocolate orange, coconut, tiramasu, nutella, sea salt caramel, butter pecan and about 20 other flavors. The store is small with a 3 chair counter with a few tables inside and outside. They also offer milkshakes, floats, and cakes. read more

I reviewed the Oracle location, and I don't think this one is any worse/better. Just as amazing!! The service is top notch, the shop is modern, clean and beautiful and the gelato is......YUM!! I actually tried one of their new flavors, the Chocolate Pepper. WATCH OUT!!! It goes down smoothly but it's got a strong bite at the end...the heat lingers! So much so that I was coughing so hard that I couldn't order! On my last visit I stepped out of my Almond/Cappuccino box and ordered a coffee drink, and I'm oh so glad I did! Almond gelato with Espresso poured over the top. Absolutely delectable!! More than likely I will always give Frost a 5. It's just "as good as it gets!" Ok, so the gelato here is not bad BUT Allegro Gelato is sooooo much better. Frost is kind of a rip off and I don't dig the fancy pants Catalina Foothills vibe. Meanwhile at Allegro's gelato master Ivan is gracious, funny, and fosters a much friendlier atmosphere than the privileged Catalina Foothills high school students that serve at Frost do. To recap Allegro is better than Frost. Allegro is the freshest, most creative, best gelato in Tucson. I go to Frost pretty much every time I am at La Encantada. I love it. I have tried quite a few of their flavors and each one hits the spot, especially during the summer. I went up there about two weeks ago and finally tried their pistachio. I love the flavor of pistachio gelato/ice cream but don't like when whole pistachios or pistachio chunks are included, they get soft and odd. Frost's pistachio is smooth, creamy and wonderful. I have always received excellent service and although the interior design in Frost is not my favorite, I usually don't notice it because I'm blissed out on gelato. read more

I'm not a huge gelato fan but this place is super clean/cute. They have at least 15 different gelato flavors. I sampled at least 4 of them before deciding on the Gel-latte. It's basically a coffee shake but you can choose any combination of gelato flavors. I got espresso gelato with vanilla and they mix a shot of espresso coffee in it. It was delish, not as heavy as I expected. The price for a 16 oz. drink was a little around $5. The owners I'm told are super young and opened the biz right after their undergraduate years, which really impressed me. The gelato ingredients are imported from Italy. You might not hear Italian explicatives being yelled or Vespas buzzing by, but the SMELL from this shop is great. You can smell the coffee from miles away and as you get closer you can see the giant colorful mounds of gelato and you are instantly transported to Italy, at least I was. I had the hazlenut and biscotti gelato mixed. I must say, it was almost as good as the motherland's stuff. I am so glad I discovered this place. My husband and I came here after eating at RA Sushi next door. We were so happy we came. I was almost overwhelmed by the flavor choices. They all looked amazing and I had to refrain from asking for too many samples. They even had bubblegum. I love bubblegum ice cream! We settled on a large, which gives you three flavors. We chose cheesecake, cookies and cream, and peanut butter cup. They were so creamy and lovely... And they actually last a while. We agree it's a better deal than going to Baskin-Robbins. I also took a sample of the rum raisin. Oh my goodness. If I wasn't sharing with my husband who isn't a fan of alcohol flavors, I would have ordered it. Same with the strawberry champagne. A nice scoop of gelato at Frost will make things a little better after a not so exciting Japanese dinner at Ra Sushi. I'm not much of a gelato connoisseur, but I enjoyed both the strawberry and cherry flavors. The scoops were a little skimpy though. I think they either needed to use smaller serving cups or make bigger scoops. In my opinion, ice cream and gelato alike should look plentiful in presentation. Heartbroken! This used to be a favorite hangout spot with good friends for the past couple of years. After eating lunch at Firebirds, we wanted to grab some gelato here for dessert. We stepped in and the entire staff:terrible service! Our server didn't even make eye contact and looked like he had someplace better to be. My hubby wasn't allowed to have two flavors in a small cup, which he's always been able to do. So he had to upgrade to a medium size. The entire staff & the manager on shift were snobby.
