The root beer is amazing and worth it alone. I've always had great waiters/waitresses! I love the old school carhop theme that they have still. It isn't common anymore! I will say as far as actual food goes, it's kind of hit or miss. I've had really good hot dogs from here, and some that were disappointing. read more

Great classic all American joint! Was stuck at the hospital across the street and asked the nurse where to eat. She said this place and not was she right. I love the vintage look, car service and the prices are unbeatable! Loved the chicken strips and honey mustard. My dad ordered the bacon cheeseburger, fries, hot dog and root beer. He enjoyed everything! This place is great if you want fast food the way they made in back in the 50s - as my dad says. It was a nice place that was nostalgic. read more

I was very very confused. The menu sucks. It doesn't tell you cone vs cup and price. It also doesn't list toppings. You can't see the ice cream. It's unclear how to order and the window is closed off. The server was in a big rush and didn't explain things well. After I ordered my ice cream he asked me what else. Was I supposed to guess the toppings? I had not idea and he didn't seem to want to explain it to me. They have about a dozen flavors. I "thought" I was ordering chocolate ice cream but they brought me vanilla ice cream with chocolate flavoring. That's not what I wanted. So I left. read more

I did not go for nostalgia, but that's what was served. The hotdogs were like they had been dipped in a bucket of water and then wrapped. Not a lot of flavor at all. Fries were soggy crinkle cuts. Best part about the takeout was the $10.49 gallon of mediocre root beer. The young lady that came to the car was very pleasant and on top of things. But that's about it. My dad had surgery at St Mary's and one day I decided to do a hotdog sauce crawl. I tried four spots in Huntington that day. I grew up in Russell and had never had Frostop that I can remember. What a fun find. I'm Kentucky we put the sauce on top so it was fun seeing it different. The root beer was so so good. We drove here from Dayton, Ohio and it was worth the drive! The last time I had Frostop Root Beer was around 40 years ago in Springfield, Ohio. I'm glad to report that it still tastes as good as it did back then. My wife and I both had coney dogs with fries and onion rings. I even tried a corn dog and all of the food was tasty and well prepared. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. They even took pictures of us with the restaurant in the background. Next time we are in the mood for a little drive, we will be going here for a cold root beer! read more

Location: 1449 Hal Greer Blvd, Huntington, 25701 We had the slaw dog and onion rings and the service was so quick and the food yummy. Our total was $7.50 for all our food which is a deal. Everything clean and your order was taken from car and all the areas closed due to Covid but the restroom which was very clean. read more

My son gave Frostop a 9.9 out of 10. He took off .1 points because he thought it took a little too long for the food, lol. The hot dog was exactly what I would expect a standard WV dog to taste like. We have always had a wonderful experience at Frostop! Great service, great food and delicious root beer floats. We are in town visiting our son so we decided to head over for a bite to eat and some root beer! Frostop is iconic in Huntington WV with its curbside service, loaded hotdogs, fries, bbq and of course root beer and root beer floats. We ordered a couple slaw dogs and chili cheese fries as well as a large root beer and a root beer float!!! The food came out quick and piping hot. The reason why I had to take off a couple of stars is the food was horrible. The tasted like Sams or Costco food out of the frozen food sections. Stopped by during lunch for a quick bite. The root beer here is some of the best, so I had a root beer float and it was fantastic. The root beer has just a bit of bite to it, coupled with the creamy soft serve made for a perfect root beer float. The cheese fries were generous and had cheese layered throughout. The hotdogs aren't the greatest, but not bad. They don't steam in their wrappers like other places and it resulted in a crusty bun once I got home. The sauce/chili is thin and has very little meat, but was still good. The hotdogs are the pork/chicken mix type, which I find to be much better than the all beef ones. Personally not a fan of beef hotdogs, but to each their own. For the price and level of service you can't beat Frostop. They offer old fashion carhop service, which is really unique. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a quick affordable bite to eat with food that's pretty good. read more

Needed to stop for lunch on the way from North Carolina to Kentucky and Huntington came just at the right moment. No frills, old school drive in, though we ate at one of the tables outside. We had chili dogs with slaw and crinkle cut fries. These are not footlong hotdogs, so if you're particularly hungry get 2 or 3. My Coke came in a truly frosty mug which made it taste better, of course. Unfortunately I was not hungry enough to get the root beer float, but looking at the ones on the tables next to us I can verify their awesomeness. Next time! read more
