I have tried Frozen Smoke on two different occasions & have yet to be impressed. My first order was the Brisket Over Mac & for $20, the restaurant should be ashamed. The entire meal lacked overall flavor & the brisket was 99% fat. The mac n cheese was not inherently bad, it just wasn't very flavorful & the brisket was abhorrent. The second time I ordered the pulled pork nachos & again, was unfortunately unimpressed. The pulled pork also contained barely any meat, mostly fat, & the rest of the nachos were just... nothing special. Granted Fairbanks is not known for its BBQ, to say this place serves "Authentic BBQ" is quite laughable... Burger King has more flavor & better food. Not to mention the prices are absurd for the amount of food you get, especially when 99% of the "meat" is just unseasoned fat. Overall, I would say this is half decent bar food that might hit the spot if you're highly intoxicated & starving, but unless you're a beer away from sleeping in the bathroom... I enjoy how FMBBQ is in Lat 65 it makes for a good spot to socialize, eat and get a drink. I'm a big fan of Lat 65 but this was my first time trying FSBBQ and I have to say I'm not as impressed as I thought I was going to be for how good it smelled. The prices are pretty expensive for just a burger w/out fires or a side. The burgers are like a up-classes fast food burger. If you're a fan of thin pressed burger and lots of cheese you'll like these. I felt like there was a lot of stuff on the burgers but there one no one flavor that just stood out it was a blend of mild flavors. I did hear that they are known more for their nachos so next time I go I look forward trying those and updating my review. read more

Frozen Smoke is located inside Lat65 Brewing. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer and they have open seating. You can order beer from the beer-tenders down the counter. We ordered the smoked wings with the dry rub, and the macaroni with pulled pork. They have a selection of sauces to use. I loved both items. I wish that we were local so I could go back and try more. We hit up Lat 65 for some beer and tried Frozen Smoke BBQ for the first time...and I'm in love. The beer (and cider) were fantastic. We had not intended to get food but after looking at the menu, we decided we had to try it. We had a hard time deciding....but I got a Popper Smash Burger and my husband got the Blue Cheese Buffalo Smash Burger. Besides the fact that it took us awhile to figure out how to eat it without wearing it, they were, hands down some of the best burgers we have ever had. Best darn burgers in Fairbanks. The Blue Buffalo (blue cheese & Buffalo Sauce, homemade,) is so tasty, just enough zest. Kind of weird but tasty and well presented is the peanut butter smash. My favorite, so far, is the oh so gooey Mac Attack. It's loaded with Mac n cheese, difficult to eat, but, double delicious. How am I the first reviewer?! Then again I'm just a tourist. Frozen Smoke BBQ is located inside the Lat 65 Brewery. Open seating, order food at the counter adjacent to the bar, they give you a buzzer, walk over to pick up your food when it buzzes. They have a selection of BBQ sauces you can pour or request to have with your order. I had the habanero one, it was A+, I mixed it with their original to lighten the heat. I wish I took a photo of the Jalapeno Smash Burger, but I ate every last bit of it and even moreso I wish I had room to eat another! It did not need the bbq sauce, I only had the sauce to taste and for a few bites of my burger. The brisket patties, all the fixin's that come in the burger, and crunchy latticed cheese = culinary skills and attention to detail on how to make an amazing burger. Worth the dollars. Fairbanks can be challenging when it comes to finding really good food. Making the 6+ hour trip with the hope of enjoying something special often leaves my husband and I disappointed more times than we'd like to admit. I try to read as many Yelp reviews as possible in order to find out what's new, different or exciting before we venture north. On my last visit to Yelp, I came across the reviews for Frozen Smoke BBQ. The simple "BBQ" caught my eye, but we're not beer drinkers and tend to avoid bar-like settings so I sent my husband off on a solo investigation to check the place out. He came back with glowing comments about great brisket and the yummy mac & cheese. We put it on our list for our next trip to town. We rolled into town last Tuesday, hungry and hopeful. Lat 65 is a bit tricky to get to for us out-of-towners as you can see it from the highway but you have to use some back road maneuvers to get to the place. (We don't "GPS" so if you're into that ignore this comment.) The menu is pretty simple with brisket being the main star of the show. The owner told us he smokes fresh brisket every day. My husband ordered the brisket with mac & cheese, but I was drawn to the brisket/mac & cheese smash burger. (It just sounded so good!) We added the large side of coleslaw mainly out of curiosity as good coleslaw can be pretty hard to find. Our food didn't take long and we jumped right into tasting everything. Nothing disappointed! The brisket was cooked to perfection. The mac & cheese is excellent and the tangy coleslaw stands alone with a creamy blend of mayo & vinegar based dressing. It was the perfect side to balance the richness of the cheese sauce on the mac & cheese. The smash burger was a fun adventure in messy eating. The owner said they have the kaiser-like buns made especially from a local bakery and their main "role" is to hold the whole thing together. We both left with "happy tummy's" after a short interview/review with the owner. He loves what he's doing and he's doing what he loves. It shows in the food he serves and in his attitude. Looked for something for lunch in Fairbanks. A friend found this place online. It looked nice from the outside and even better inside. We ordered the brisket and smash burger with brisket. I had the brisket macover load was very good. Meat was super soft. Don't forget to grab your container for bbq sauce if you are taking it to go it makes the whole thing come together. Delicious food!! We were recommended this place by former Master Chef contestant and Alaskan native, Lizzie Hartman. The owner was down to earth and gave incredible recommendations that made picking a dish fast and easy! Most everything on the menu is homemade with a delightful personal twist to pretty much every menu item. The fact that it shares a space with Lat 65 brewery is just a plus. I got the pulled pork Mac n cheese and my bf got the peanut butter smash burger. 10/10 recommend both dishes! Will def be back when we are in town again :) read more
