    Waffles

It was our first morning in Fairbanks, we came as a group of 6 (3 couples) and we brought in our full appetite. As soon as we entered and chose a table and sat (No sign for - wait to be seated), we were asked to leave the table and escorted inside away from rest of the customers. Table wasn't clean, waited for quite sometime for someone to come and take orders. Eureka!!! Finally someone came for orders. We ordered 4 veggie Omelettes and 2 Strawberry Waffles and told we would share. It took around ~40 mins to get the order on table, also since we were seated secluded it was extremely hard to see any other server running around and ask for our server or order status. We right away started digging in the food, i even forgot to take to pic out of hunger. We ordered hashbrowns for some and for some potato fries as sides and liked the potato fries better (tip). Omelette had very less veggies and full of cheese, tasted ok. To our surprise Strawberry waffle came with no real fruits but only pulpy fruit syrup which was good for syrup but not as good as the real one. Missed the original waffle taste. The last, we paid the bill and then saw 15% auto gratuity and extra 10$ on the bill. We checked with the server on extra $10, it seemed they charge extra for sharing. This came to us as surprise since never saw anything like this before. Overall it wasnt a great experience.

Food is yummy and service is excellent!! I had the Alaskan skillet because I really like reindeer sausage. Coffee is very good, too.

Cool hole in the wall vibe. Server/clerk was very knowledgeable about gluten allergens. All of the…read moregluten-free items were clearly marked on the wall menu. I ended up getting some tacos and my husband got a sandwich. Both of them had really good flavor. Could tell that a lot of ingredients are made in house. Though I didn't end up buying any I did see that they had an entire Bakery case with a bunch of gluten-free baked goods like cheesecake, custard cake, and some other stuff. We really enjoyed the glass roof as the snow was just starting to melt. It was kind of cool like we were in a half melted igloo. I would definitely put it on my list if you are gluten-free.

Landed on the BLT with salmon. The BLT actually came with a croissant as the bread, so it made it very easy to eat. Lots of bacon and the salmon went really well with the sandwich. Fries here are great too! Staff here are great! Since we came here near closing time, they actually offered us some of their leftover soup since it would have been tossed out. Definitely hate wasting food, so that offer was accepted very quickly. I didn't realize until after leaving why Blue Roof Bistro has its name. It's because...the roof is blue heh. Either way, worth the visit.

Service: Attentive, friendly, and fast. Lots of regulars came in and they automatically knew their orders. Food: The cup of gumbo was so much larger than I anticipated. I would not have ordered this had I known the size. I'm not sure if it had any seafood in it, since I couldn't taste or see any of them, but it was still hearty and delicious. The bison burger was good, but a bit dry for my taste, so I added a bunch of condiments to it. I asked what the buffalo chips were, which are potatoes with Cajun/buffalo style seasoning that's slightly spicy, so I opted for that and it was worth it, since they didn't have curly fries in stock. Overall I'd come back again, but maybe ask for the burger to be cooked medium rare, if that were an option. It seemed like a nice, friendly place to have good food with friends

Friendly service and it was so nice that they split our food onto two plates when we said we were sharing. The Alaskan skillet was great and a big portion of food. The kids enjoyed their pancakes and bacon, which they were nice enough to make just after the 11 o'clock cutoff time. We were very entertained by all the funny/sarcastic quotes on the walls. Would be a regular if we lived in the area.

We had the churrasco steak and the halibut Cuban style. The steak sauce has a kick, while the halibut sauce was slightly creamy but also refreshing - olive and lime perhaps? I thought the halibut was overcooked at first but the bottom half was perfectly cooked, so it seem like just the seasoned top was cooked more so. They both came from vegetables and yellow rice that soaked up the sauces well. We also got the flan which is house-made. So good, even better than the entrees. It tasted so 'fresh', don't know how else to describe it. They also had the cheesecake that night and I wonder if that's housemade as well. Wife got the mango juice which is freshly squeezed it seems and I got a bottle of Alaskan white. I do like the arctic warrior draft better but this was decent too.

We made a reservation for a larger group, yet the table wasn't ready when we arrived, and we ended up waiting much longer than expected. For a place that requires reservations, this was frustrating right from the start. The food was just okay--not terrible, but definitely not worth the price. Given our background and familiarity with Latin cuisine, we expected much more in terms of flavor and authenticity, especially considering the high cost of the dishes. The live music, which we were looking forward to, started about 30 minutes late. To make matters worse, when one of the band members didn't show up, the owner asked a member of our family--who happens to be a musician--to step in and play. Not only did this put us in an awkward position, but there was no acknowledgment or discount offered for his time, even though we had other plans to get to. Parking is also inconvenient, with only street parking or paid lot options available. The restaurant itself is very small, which does create a somewhat intimate atmosphere, but it also feels cramped for larger groups. While the owner comes across as friendly, it also felt like there was a strong focus on maximizing profit. There are multiple additional fees listed in very small print at the bottom of the menu--something that should be much more transparent or reconsidered altogether. Service overall was slow, and again, the pricing does not match the quality or experience provided. At this point, I wouldn't personally recommend this place unless there are significant improvements--better service, more consistent food quality, fairer pricing, clearer fee transparency, and better management of their live music arrangements.
