Everything here was amazing! I would've never thought a grill and catering place would be so good, but it was! The owners, David and Wena, and their entire staff make you feel at home right when you walk in the door. You order on a kiosk and then they bring you the food. The restaurant is clean and cute - decorated with trinkets and witty memorabilia. All of the food was excellent! Everything comes out piping hot, fresh from the kitchen. David makes the burger patties fresh every morning. Wena is definitely the personality of the restaurant. She was really fun to talk to and when she found out we were going to Borealis Basecamp after lunch, she texted her friend (the chef at Latitude 65) right away to get us a reservation there! This is probably some kind of against the rules of being a local but this place is very much a local favorite! The place is also clean and the people are very friendly. The food is fresh and made to order. You feel like you are getting a home cooked meal from a great restaurant. There's nothing fancy about the menu or the decor but both are pretty dang charming if you ask anyone who lives here. The woman who probably owns it or at least should is loud in the friendliest way. If you're looking for decadent, fried food, this is the place to go. Owned and run by a couple, you can see family memorabilia and artwork all throughout the walls. It added a nice local, homey feel. For the food, I ordered a burger with a side of cheesy bacon ranch curly fries. My husband ordered the jalapeño philly cheese steak sandwich with a side of cheesy bacon ranch tater tots. Everything was so good! It was definitely a bit difficult to finish after a while, but I wished I had a larger stomach to be able to finish because it was indeed very tasty. I especially loved the cheesy bacon ranch sauce and toppings over our potatoes. The jalapeño adds a nice kick to your traditional philly cheese steak. Would highly recommend! read more

Pretty solid eatery. Enjoyed the homey atmosphere. Everything very clean and organized. The staff was on the ball from the second we walked in. Very attentive, fast and friendly. My Dad and I got a couple of sandwiches & curly fries which came with a fountain drink. Price is affordable, and I'd say reasonable for the quality (about $28 for 2 lunches). Both our meals were fresh tasting and satisfying, although I wish they'd had a big pickle spear! The Rueben only came with 2 or 3 quarter sized pickle chips, and the bbq beef came with none. There's a creative variety of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads and hotdogs within the menu. I'd recommend this south side spot to anyone needing a super casual and quick lunch. read more

The owners Winna & David along with their amazing staff truly made my time here in Alaska incredible. DW Grill & Catering is hands down one of the best small business, food establishment (mom and pops) in the city of Fairbanks, AK! I was greeted upon entering the establishment with open arms by owner (Winna), including her taking my order immediately, making it easy for me to pay for our meal quick. Especially, when I was very limited on time to eat. The staff was very friendly, and efficient delivering my food to my table without any issues with my order. They have many, many choices of reasonable priced sandwiches to choose from, making it real hard not order a to-go plate for dinner. With the large menu, Winna is there to assist what type of sandwich are in the mood for or give you run down what specials they maybe having that day. If you are looking to 'spice' up your sandwich, no worries, they have additional condiments for you to splotch-up on your sandwich. I'm giving 3 stars because at first they really tried to take care of me. The second time I had a problem one of the cooks said "I'd rather refund and not serve you than fix it" I respect the heck out of someone who takes a stand like that and finally says "no! The customer is not always right" I'm just disappointed that I had to be that guy. I took my sandwich to the owner asking if I had received enough meat, because it was very slim especially for a $14.45 sandwich, and they told me it's always 4 ounces measured out every time. Well 4 ounces of meat on a French dip is disappointing to say the least. The owner offered to throw a little extra meat on for me but the cook made the call to refuse service and the owner backed her workers (which I say is a good sign). I later read that the burgers have good reviews but I think I may need to place a phone order if I'm ever to give it a try. To sum it up. Not enough meat, overpriced, friendly waitstaff, involved owner, bold cooks, nice atmosphere. First the bad. Do not order the DW Club sandwich here. I was hopeful that this sandwich would be good but severely disappointed when I tried it. A lunch meat and cheese sandwich can never be good when the lunch meat and cheese are low quality. Pretty sure the cheese was kraft singles, and the lunch meat was as low quality as you can find. On the side they curiously placed a few slices of sweet pickle. I am used to having a pickle spear served with a club, but the few slices of sweet pickle was a strange addition. Now the good. The bacon was nicely cooked and the only thing on the club sandwich that made it edible. The French fries were very good and the cole slaw was acceptable. It could have used some more vinegar or salt as it lacked a little flavor, but still pretty good overall. My wife had a Reuben sandwich and thought it was very good. I will try this place again in the future but I will not be ordering another club sandwich. read more

I ordered the catfish meal with tater tots and tarter sauce, what I got was several pieces of catfish that was so hard it may have been dried and not fully rehydrated before cooking, and instead of tater tots I was given curly fries and some aoli instead of tarter sauce. Worst spent $17 dollars plus ever I also tiped the server and she was the only thing good I got from my time there friendly and attentive but I will not be back anytime soon. read more

I'm from the city and am admittedly cautious about eating at any "mom-and-pop" food establishment. This restaurant won my heart and my business! Staff was professional, nice, and service was expeditious! Friendly atmosphere, and very clean restaurant! More importantly, I ordered a classic cheeseburger and curly fries ($14 total, w/drink) that was so delicious--and delicious looking--I completely forgot to snap a photo to share. Comparable to Red Robin taste, with better service. I was in and out during lunch hour in about 15 minutes. Sat down to enjoy the Alaskan art work on the walls. This is a great spot for a quick bite and some tasty lunch. Can't wait to return to try breakfast. read more

I've eaten here many times, most recently this morning. I had biscuits and gravy, eggs, and bacon, and oh man was it good! I was having a pretty bad day, having just been in a car accident the night before, but this was a great start to a new day. I eat here because the staff is like family, knowing their returning customers by name, and always treating all of the customers with grade A service and respect. You can't ask for a better local food place then DW's! Please, if you're here and haven't tried this out yet, go there! So many delicious food options and I still haven't been able to try them all! The jalapeño cheesesteak is insane too if you're lucky enough to get one before they sell out of them. But my absolutely favorite part is they aren't scared to grill up eggs to put on burgers. I feel like that's how burgers are meant to be eaten! And other places when I've asked it's too much of a hassle to fry up and additional egg to go with a burger. Lame! +5* read more
