Used to be a grilled cheese place which I never tried because I like meat in my sandwiches. Then the last owners I'm sad to say I didn't visit either but today I walked in and realized they have one of the best steak tortas I have had in the US. If you're from tj they are like the tortas at the "car wash" next to giussepis. If you know you know. Very nice sized bread, toasted on both sides with a chipotle sauce, fresh jalapeños, lots of avocado, the steak was fresh and delicious. Half a torta was enough to get me through for a while and now I have a great evening snack after Jiu Jitsu. Owner said the chicken torta was even better. Hard to believe but maybe I'll get one for the wife. They have Acai with champs like a Mangonada. It's a pretty cool spot that could become a staple if enough people find it. read more

Went back to Fruitylicious for lunch. This time I chose the Birra Burritos for takeout. They sounded interesting and I do love birria. The burritos were served as three mini burritos with a side of onions, cilantro and crumbly queso as toppings along with a cup of consommé for dipping. Upon arriving home, I immediately poured the consommé from the Styrofoam container into a real vessel that won't leach carcinogens into my food. I abhor Styrofoam. Then I tore into the first little burrito. Delicious! Packed with tender juicy beef and packed with flavor! The consommé was excellent. Rich and flavorful. I enjoyed a nice bowl of albondiga soup from this place in Santee, east county San Diego. The bowl of soup came to $10 and some change. The soup came with piping hot corn tortillas, some chopped white onions, and Mexican rice. I really liked the soup. It was the red version and was a little spicier than I thought it was going to be, but in a good way of course. In addition to the delicious and tender Mexican meatballs in the soup, the soup also came with chopped potatoes, carrots, and Mexican squash. The soup tasted very good and all the ingredients in the soup were tender and flavorful. The albondigas meatballs were well made with the incorporated rice and mint. I used the onions and rice inside the soup, which came out great. The corn tortillas were of very good quality and were perfect for dunking into the soup and making little meatball tacos. The service was good. The lady who took my order and made my soup was very friendly and polite. They offer mostly inside seating and a few tables on the outside. Looks like the change of ownership took place about a week ago. Fruitilitous Santee will be changing the name. It will be called Incredible Bowl Cafe & Deli. They are already open and operating under the old name until the new one is approved. I was in the area attending my business. I was hungry and decided to stop by at the first food place I found. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. Ordered a tuna sandwich. I swear it was the best tuna sandwich I've ever eaten in CA. Not sure what the cook put in there, but it was just perfect. The place was a little empty... No one there... But it was clean and in a great area. The owners, I'm guessing... Were extremely nice and accommodating. Me and my fiance came during Fruitylicious Santee soft opening. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We tried elote (on cob) esquite (cup) turkey sandwich and chamango. The corn was super fresh and there was a salsa bar to add your own spice! It was really good and made to order. The turkey sandwich was on bran / seed break had panela cheese, thick slice of turkey onion tomato lettuce and really good chipotle sauce. I was surprised it was on sliced bread but it was actually really good and toasted. It also had jalapeño on the side which I added to the sandwich. The chamango was DELICIOUS! I will come back for this alone. It's in the 7/11 pocket mall on Mast & Cuyamaca in the old Grilled Cheese spot. Looking forward for their grand opening and will try the Tostilocos next time. The menu of this place was overwhelming at best, but I'd definitely go back to try the other 10,000,000 things I wasn't able to try the first time. I was craving fruit salad, when I came across Fruitylicious. The name, first of all, spectacular. I got the cottage cheese fruit salad and the birria empanadas (because I have no self-control and that menu was 6 restaurants in one). The empanadas were insane! They were so juicy but didn't leak at all! The fruit salad was also something else. I don't usually like cottage cheese, especially with a super random assortment of fruit, but it somehow worked. The fruit salad had 2 kinds of apple, 2 kinds of melon, strawberry, banana, pineapple, and probably two more kinds of fruit I'm forgetting. I was eating that fruit salad for days. It was a little odd to see people walking in and out, but it really added to the homey local vibe. The restaurant itself was very hot as they only had a fan and no AC in Santee on a 90+ degree day, so I definitely recommend take-out. The food took about 20-30 minutes to come out, but everything was packed well and fresh, so I'm not complaining. I'd recommend swinging by and going to the nearby park for a nice picnic. read more

The milanesa torta was delicious it had the fried steak which was perfectly crispy lettuce tomatoes grilled jalapeños which wasn't to spicy a really good sauce on it and some sort of mozzarella like cheese that was so good. For some unknown reason, all I could think about today was a Tuna Melt! I had heard from my friend Nancy that Fruitylicious, was amazing, so I called to see if they had a Tuna Melt on the menu and the girl said, I can surely make one for you! So I called my friend and she and Bella, and I went to Fruitylicious and got our AMAZING TUNA MELTS and delicious french fries and drinks!!! The people / servers could not have been nicer and the prices were extremely reasonable and the service was great!!!! It's a no frills restaurant, but they sure make up for that in the quality and quantity of the food and the good service and friendly atmosphere! (We both got "to go" containers for half of our sandwiches and some of the fries home for leftovers!)
