I enjoyed a nice bowl of albondiga soup from this place in Santee, east county San Diego. The bowl of soup came to $10 and some change. The soup came with piping hot corn tortillas, some chopped white onions, and Mexican rice. I really liked the soup. It was the red version and was a little spicier than I thought it was going to be, but in a good way of course. In addition to the delicious and tender Mexican meatballs in the soup, the soup also came with chopped potatoes, carrots, and Mexican squash. The soup tasted very good and all the ingredients in the soup were tender and flavorful. The albondigas meatballs were well made with the incorporated rice and mint. I used the onions and rice inside the soup, which came out great. The corn tortillas were of very good quality and were perfect for dunking into the soup and making little meatball tacos. The service was good. The lady who took my order and made my soup was very friendly and polite. They offer mostly inside seating and a few tables on the outside. Next, I need to try their birria flautas.

Looks like the change of ownership took place about a week ago. Fruitilitous Santee will be changing the name. It will be called Incredible Bowl Cafe & Deli. They are already open and operating under the old name until the new one is approved. I was in the area attending my business. I was hungry and decided to stop by at the first food place I found. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. Ordered a tuna sandwich. I swear it was the best tuna sandwich I've ever eaten in CA. Not sure what the cook put in there, but it was just perfect. I wish this new owner the best in their new endeavor. I'm sure they'll be popular in no time.

This place took me right back to my college days. I had a Chamango and Grilled cheese sammich. Could not be much simpler. I actually ordered and are a second sammich after I devoured the first one. The place was a little empty... No one there... But it was clean and in a great area. The owners, I'm guessing... Were extremely nice and accommodating. I know the help says permanently closed, but it was open. If you haven't been here... Support local small businesses. These guys deserve your patronage.

Me and my fiance came during Fruitylicious Santee soft opening. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We tried elote (on cob) esquite (cup) turkey sandwich and chamango. The corn was super fresh and there was a salsa bar to add your own spice! It was really good and made to order. The turkey sandwich was on bran / seed break had panela cheese, thick slice of turkey onion tomato lettuce and really good chipotle sauce. I was surprised it was on sliced bread but it was actually really good and toasted. It also had jalapeño on the side which I added to the sandwich. The chamango was DELICIOUS! I will come back for this alone. It's in the 7/11 pocket mall on Mast & Cuyamaca in the old Grilled Cheese spot. Looking forward for their grand opening and will try the Tostilocos next time. Congrats and good luck, Fruitylicious Santee!

Normally I wouldn't give 5 stars or even leave a review but this sandwich was so good I had to. The milanesa torta was delicious it had the fried steak which was perfectly crispy lettuce tomatoes grilled jalapeños which wasn't to spicy a really good sauce on it and some sort of mozzarella like cheese that was so good. Please eat here so we can keep this business open!

Strawberries & Bananas with sweet cream and the banana Nutella crepe

Yummy new place! We couldn't decide what to try, so we ordered several items: Strawberry Banana Smoothie 5/5. Traditional milky type of smoothie. Perfectly sweet! Strawberry & Bananas with sweet cream 4.5/5. So good. The granola & raisins on top added a nice crunch & texture. Would have been perfect layered throughout. Corn cup 4.5/5. Was really good! The top layer with cotija cheese was amazing. Would have been perfect if there was a bit more throughout. Banana Nutella crepe 3.5/5. the crepe was thick and kind of tough by the time we got home. Not sure if it's a different kind of batter?? Not as light & fluffy as I've had at other places. But it had lots of Nutella which I like!

    Chocoflan hearts!

Had the chocoflan hearts and they were delicious. I'm an original flan kind of girl but these were really good. Customer service was on point. Definitely going back to try the menu.

    Chocoflan everyone loves it!

The Chocoflan is amazing and the fruit salad was to! I will definitely be back for more!

You have to try the Gansito shake. Wow sooo goood

Service, selection, prices, good portions, and everything I've tried has been delicious. I recommend anything that has birria in it. The shakes are delicious. You can't go wrong with any selection and they have a large menu, so you can mix it up. Stop by and give them a try.

    Tostilocos

Great customer service and delicious food! I'm so glad to see a spot like this in Santee. The customer service was excellent--friendly and attentive. The tostilocos and chawata were both amazing, with fresh flavors that really hit the spot. Definitely a place worth returning to!

Two items we had not yet tried in our many visits to Roberto's. We sat at the little bar and each had a pint of Pacifico while we waited for our to-go order to be prepared. The quesadilla was a large flour tortilla stuffed with shrimp, Pico and melted cheese. It was cut into four large pieces. The shrimp were plump and perfectly grilled. The cheese was melty with that great cheese pull, and I really liked the addition of the Pico. The portion size was generous for the price. I got two meals out of it. The carne asada bowl was huge. It fed Becky four times. It was packed with flavors. There was a lot going on in the bowl. Generous helpings of carne asada, beans, rice, Pico, and guacamole. I was pleased to see it served in a tin rather than Styrofoam as my quesadilla was. That's really my only complaint about Roberto's, the use of Styrofoam. It is just not conducive to hot foods.

Staff was very friendly so I figured I was just picking up but definitely could not have eaten inside. Ordered for family of 4 and took it home. I had the carne asada burrito and had to spit multiple pieces of meat out because I couldn't chew them. Family said their meal was not great. Probably will not go back because there are so many better choices in Santee. Really was hoping this place was good because it's close to home.

Chilorio is slow-simmered pork, shredded, fried in lard, and simmered in a sauce of chilis and spices. I've not found this dish anywhere north of the border and couldn't wait. I wasn't dissapointed. The chilorio was savory with deep flavors of chilis and spices. It's available as an omlette, but also as a side on its own, served in pan with a warm stack of very good corn or flour tortillas (or a mix of the two). In addition, we tried their birria de chivo (goat stew), also made in the Sinaloan tradition, with different chilis than the original Jalisco version and very cumin/cinnamon forward. Totally delicious. And totally affordable, at inexpensive-moderate menu pricing. The spot is charming, welcoming on the outside, tidy and clean on the inside, and run by a friendly family--who are happy to educate guests on their very special menu. I'd consider this a destination restaurant. Worth the trip from anywhere in San Diego County.
