With Lily's tumultuous past, I needed a vet I could really trust that could also earn my dog's trust (neither of those things being easy). Before she settled into her new life with me, Lily wasn't a fan of anyone, often barking or snapping at anyone who got close to her. Dr. McReynolds was an exception. This office has a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and Dr. McReynolds is a wonderful veterinarian. The first review posted to this site about her was what convinced me to try her first in the Austin area. She has helped me address a list of issues that have come up with Lily - from weight, to separation anxiety, to allergies - with lots of advice, sourced from her personal experiences owning dogs as well as her education. She takes the time to evaluate my dog's health point-by-point. She even spends a chunk of time talking to me about how things are going, even if there are no glaring health issues. She is very personable and kind. I don't EVER feel rushed. Many vets are good with animals, but not so great with the owners - not true here. She has made my dog comfortable (again, not an easy task) while using her vast knowledge to help her be the healthy, happy dog that she is. My dog has become a dearly loved companion for me, and I would never trust her well-being with anyone I didn't think was up to the task. Lily loves Dr. McReynolds. Additionally, the office is very clean - without having that awkward, sterile feeling to it that many vets' (and doctors') offices have. The setup is dog-friendly. There's always plenty of parking. I never have to wait long - if at all - when I arrive for my appointment, even if I'm really early. All charges and treatment plans are explained well. The entire staff is empathetic, understanding that a dearly loved pet's health can be a very emotional issue. Overall, Dr. McReynolds and her staff run an efficient operation while doing an exemplary job. I've dealt with many veterinarians throughout my life, and I've never met a friendlier, more knowledgeable one. I'm a customer for life, as long as I own dogs.

Dr. Nichols changed all the meds and our dog has his hair back! Going to a specialist, one has to be prepared for a pricey bottom line, but the money was worth it. Dr.Nichols did a thorough, comprehensive history on our dog, (be prepared to answer lots of questions from their new patient paperwork), a detailed exam, skin scraping and blood work to rule out infectious sources of the condition. I was sent home with detailed, written instructions after everything was explained by Dr. Nichols, then his staff. We were seen for a follow up visit, and we received follow up phone calls. Staff were ALL loving towards my dog, and they rewarded him with treats. Love these guys!

This past Wednesday, we unfortunately had to put our lab down due to complications with cancer in her chest. We had to take Brodie (our lab) in to Westgate to get screens done on her chest to diagnose the problem, and when they called back to tell us the news and that Brodie would need to be euthanized, I immediately thought to call Dr. Allen. She has been taking care of Brodie for years, and while Brodie was scared of the vet in general, she loved Dr. Allen and vice versa. I called her on Tuesday to see if she would be available to come to our home on Wednesday and just like any time we've called her in the past she made herself available to come and help us out. I could tell Brodie was more than just another animal to her, and I'm sure she uses the same love and compassion for any animal she treats. I can't tell you how peaceful the whole procedure was. I was so happy she could be there in Brodie's final moments. Dr. Allen also recommended Rainbow Bridge since we wanted to have her cremated, and I knew if she recommended it then it was what we needed to go with. Ronny came to pick Brodie up after she passed and was very respectful and sympathetic. He had her returned two days later. Can't recommend them enough, either. When we get a new puppy, Dr. Allen will be the only vet he/she sees.

The fact that they do it with kindness and love is icing on the cake. Dr. Hoff and Connie took care of him today and of course he loved the visit. Is your pet afraid of going to the vet? Try Castlerock. Today's visit however was like all the rest: regardless of which vet or tech you'll get, its going to be a good and thorough visit and if you're going for vaccination updates or ailment checks you'll sit in the check-up room with your buddy. I've never had - which means my dog has never had - a bad experience at Castlerock. All the questions I ask they take seriously and explain as much as I want about things because, hey, I'm trying to look out for my four-legged friend, so I gotta know what I'm doing! Other things I like? The facility is clean, fresh and up to date intelligently designed with concrete floors since sometimes our animal friends can't hold in their excitement if you know what I mean. No loud garish music over the PA scaring you & your animal. And, should you check out with the lovely Chrissy at the front desk you'll experience warm and calming service from someone who obviously loves animals.
