NO STARS!!!! My husband took our dog to get a rabies shot and asked the vet about ivermectin for parasites. The vet told him yes he could give dogs ivermectin but did not let him know the dosage or the fact that there could be serious complications. Well $3400 later and ER trip in the middle of the night our dogs has sudden blindness and tremors. Serious complications indeed. I'm very dissatisfied in this veterinarian as they should have been more forthcoming with the accurate information regarding this medication. I'm also upset at myself that I didn't further investigate, but most people take the word of a professional. I will be moving our animals elsewhere and am considering taking legal action. read more

I would give this no stars, simply for the emergency number they have on their website. Our cat sadly passed away and we were not able to get in contact of their emergency number, even after multiple calls, so we unfortunately had to take our sweet girl all the way to Leander. If you have an emergency in the Marble Falls area, this clinic will NOT answer your calls after hours. The emergency number will not do the one thing they are there for. Do not let them fool you. Don't have an emergency number if nobody is going to answer it. read more

Even though everyone at the office is very cordial, polite, and friendly, my experience with HLVC has not been great. - I was talked into a completely useless splint for a cat whose rear leg was shattered due to being shot by a .22cal rifle. HLVC is either very inexperienced with this type of injury or they have no comprehension of just how bad, pointless, and useless the type of splint they provide is. - It's worthless, plastic garbage. Despite being very forthright regarding my financial constraints, HLVC chose to waste my time and take my money... The first splint was so hastily and poorly done that it came off before I even got my cat from Marble Falls to Kingsland. As he was completely drugged up at the time, it's obvious that the splint was the issue, not him trying to remove it. - A new splint was applied the next day more professionally and it remained on for 10 days until l took him back in for a checkup. New X-rays showed that the leg was now worse than it was before they splinted it. WHAT!? - My cat's leg now has to be amputated and they want an additional $1500+, on top of the $800+ I already paid out that resulted in nothing but x-rays, time/money lost, and my cat's prolonged, unnecessary suffering. This is outright Veterinary malpractice. - At this point, I am NOT happy with the service I received. My cat's amputation will be done by a far more affordable and professional vet. I do not recommend HLVC and will not return. Edit - Despite the fact that I've repeatedly told this Vet Clinic to STOP CALLING ME! and "keep communication in writing"... They insist on harassing me to an obnoxious extent. read more

To be fair, while I didn't have a great experience, a family member uses this place and has gotten excellent care for their dog, the docs have been on point with everything concerning her medical needs that have been somewhat serious from day one. That, I truly appreciate. read more

Have never been to this clinic but had a emergency for my Australian Shepherd on Friday evening. I called several places and only got one call back. We have been using HLVC for 3 years. They have gone above and beyond to treat our dogs and help us make the best decisions for them. Dr. Jung will even call us after hours from his personal phone to follow up. We really appreciate the level of attention and compassionate care we have received from them, especially during the covid 19 pandemic when patient support and customer care seem to be on the decline elsewhere. read more

My 5 year old healthy dog went in to be fixed and died shortly after getting anesthesia. How does this happen? I'm outraged by the ease of veterinarian malpractice. There's not enough laws to protect our pets and no where to turn. If a veterinarian harms your dog through negligence and complacency, who holds them accountable? No one! My family has gone through a lot of pain today. Do they get their license updated? Are they competent? Our dog died under their care. I beg you do not go there. I wish we wouldn't have trusted them. We lost a family member today. They don't deserve the money they make off of being a veterinarian. I seriously question anyone who reads this and still takes their dog to them. Don't do it. I hope they go out of business. The thought of them being happy with their pockets lined after being so careless with a precious life. They don't deserve another dime. Dr. Jung didn't even get his name right while on the phone with me. I beg you please don't let them continue like this! We deserve our dog back our sweet little Roy Boy. We took our dog in because we thought she may have eaten something that got stuck in her intestines. Even though we were from out of town, they still saw us right away. They went above and beyond diagnosing her, even going to the clinic late at night to perform surgery on her. Along the way, the doctors were constantly updating us on her status and tried to treat her without having to do surgery. I appreciated the attempt at an alternative to surgery even though surgery did become necessary. After her surgery, we got her back bathed and with her nails cut and filed. Several days later the doctor called again just to check in and make sure she was doing fine. I LOVED the communication they kept with us and they did excellent work on her. read more

I would give negative stars if possible. Do not board your dogs here! One of our dogs was given a vaccine and a heart worm test that she had received less than two months earlier from another vet. The clinic had a copy of her records but ignored them. When I called the mistake to their attention they acted like they were doing me a favor by giving me a credit and snapped that I would not be able to get heart worm medicine from them. They also did not go over any of this when we dropped the dogs off. They gave an excuse that the girl who checked us in was new but never apologized. I found it concerning that there were two other employees in the office watching her check us in that said nothing. I took two heathy dogs in for boarding and both came out sick. The customer service in this office is the worst I have ever seen. One of the girls in the office hung up on me twice and refused to give me her name. She was probably the one braiding the other employees hair when we picked up. I do want to give a compliment to Dr. Lauren Goad, she was very helpful in this frightening ordeal. read more

Dr. Jung & staff were extremely compassionate when my senior dog had reached the end of her life. They prepared me for putting her to sleep and gave me plenty of time to be with her afterwards and even had a "dog coffin" that I could bury her in. The vet would not re-new a prescription for ibuprofen (for dogs) without a blood work up. It's ibuprofen! My dog is in her last year and the blood draw is pointless. This has been the history of dealing with this vet, always pushing for more tests, more procedures, more shots, more money. SHAME! read more

I went to Highland Lakes regularly and depended on them for boarding my two dogs. Unfortunately, since they don't have a dog run between the two buildings on the property (which is not at all properly gated) my 4 year old dog got loose while being transported to the next building. My dog died because she was hit by a car. The horrible thing is that she got loose immediately after I dropped her off and they failed to call me and notify me she had escaped. If they had called me I could have had the opportunity to help find her before she was hit. Highland Lakes called me the morning after she had escaped to tell me she was dead. This tragic accident could've been prevented and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone ever. read more

My pet was misdiagnosed at this clinic. I felt like they didn't really care about my pet and was basically told that there was nothing that they could do for my pet. I ended up taking my pet to another clinic who requested the records and was told that my pet was misdiagnosed and overmedicated for the illness that it actually had. They took my pet off of some meds and added one. My pet showed improvement within two days of going to the 2nd clinic whereas my pet was treated twice within a 7 day period at Highland Lakes to the tune of approximately $800 with no improvement. I would never recommend this clinic to my friends or family or to anyone who actually cares about their pet. read more

My dog was bitten by a rattlesnake a few weeks ago, of course it happened on a Sunday, when all vets offices are closed. I called this clinic and got a recording saying "if this is an emergency, leave a message, if I don't call you back in 15 minutes, call us back" I left one message, and waited almost 15 minutes before calling back, as I waited my dogs face got more swollen. I left a second frantic message begging someone to call me back, no response.. drove to the clinic because a near by company assured me that they were open that day, even though the website said they were closed, there were 2 cars parked out front, but the door was locked and no one came when I knocked.. we ended up having to drive my dog an hour into Austin to see an emergency vet, made it there just in time for her to be ok.. no one ever called me back from this clinic.. I've had people suggest this clinic to me, but I don't see myself ever being comfortable to trust this clinic with the well-being of my dogs.. if they couldn't even get back to me in a life threatening emergency situation, how would it be for a routine exam or other services.. very disappointing! If there was an option to select 0 stars, that's what I would select. I took my dog to Highland Lakes Veterinarian Clinic for a lump on her foot. It turned out to be cancer, they removed the tumor and suggested I start chemotherapy. As you can imagine, the chemo treatments would have cost a fortune. I opted not to get chemo and monitor my dog for any suspicious lumps. Four, five years later, my dog was fine. If I had spent the thousands on chemo, the vet would have gotten exactly what they wanted, my money. That's the motivation of this clinic: money. A truck ran over my best friend and I rushed her to Highland Lakes Veterinarian Clinic. I wasn't sure, I was sure but I didn't want to believe, she passed. I ran into the clinic and asked for help. The vet checked for a heartbeat. They offered to perform CPR $$$$$ and I told them it wasn't necessary. I couldn't think straight, crying like I haven't cried in . . . I don't know how long. I asked that they cremate her and I would be back to get her ashes. They refused to cremate her without MONEY FIRST. The staff was incredible insensitive and the audacity to demand payment from me was beyond repulsive. I ran out of the house barefoot and didn't have my wallet nor my purse. I was trying to save my dog - driving 20 miles to Marble Falls. STAY AWAY from this greedy, money-driven vet. read more

I love this vet! They have only showed us compassion and care for our dog. We have boarded many times there as well with no issues. We plan on using this vet as long as we live in the hill country. They are not cheap but you also get a full workup of your pet just like when you go see your doctor. If you don't care about labs or examinations and just the shots go to your local feed store on shot day. read more

Competent and friendly. They are honest and fair. If you want cheap go to the shot clinic. If you need real veterinary service this is a very good place. They don't push about additional services and give you honest, realistic answers. Dr Jung is extremely knowledgeable and experienced - a straight shooter. I only gave 4 stars because the wait was kind of long for having an appointment. But still well worth the wait. The last guy I went to was not even in the same universe. AFTER he charged me $800 and told me it was in God's hands. My dog died. The preacher vet had no wait. Now I know why. read more
