I recently visited Fry The Coop during the shut down, and I was definitely impressed. The place was empty due to the stay at home order. I walked up to place my take-out order the service was very quick and efficient. I got the Nashville chicken sandwich with a side if fries. I was told 10 minutes for my order which wasn't a crazy wait time to I sat down while I waited. Once I sat down, I had enough time to pull up an article to read and my order was already being called. With all the chicken sandwich drama going in the recent year, I decided I'd give this place a try. I will say I was not disappointed. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. It was perfectly cooked and was a good portion. The fries were crispy and I'm not sure why but they reminded me of a crispier version of the fries from Jimmy's hot dogs on Grand Ave and Pulaski. I wasn't complaining. I love those fries. I won't hesitate to eat here again. I look forward to coming back once all these restaurant/bar restrictions are lifted. read more

I ordered Sunday using uber eats...had a taste for fried chicken tenders..I chose the tender plate and "hot" - there are 2 versions hotter = I love hot but WOW was that spicy!!! I think I would go for medium next time. The chicken itself was REALLY good - really tasteful and juicy. You get two sides - I did seasoned fries which I think I had the bottom of the barrel so not impressed and macaroni and cheese. The M&C was good. Stopped in here last night as I was in the area. Very simple menu to navigate, friendly staff, and a laid-back sort of western vibe. I ordered the Honey Butter chicken sandwich in medium spice level with a side of fries. That chicken sandwich is a work of art. It's what Chick fil'a wishes it could be (and without all that homophobia). It was crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, and packed full of deliciousness throughout. Medium was just enough heat for me without going to far. The honey butter also gave it a slightly sweet under current that complemented the heat. The fries were really tasty as well. This place also has several really great beers on tap, including Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn. I'm already thinking I will be back within a week to try more. read more

So this is my first time here. I got the Donut Fried Chicken Sandwich, I recommend subbing out the special sauce for Spicy Honey Butter. Don't be fooled the medium is basically mild so I recommend jumping straight into the hot(seriously), get mild or medium for your kids. The seasoned fries are definitely dope, mix the ketchup with crystal hot sauce and you are set. *Update* Came back and got the hot very next day. Please note that this review has nothing to do with the food/ the ambience or the Manager (I forget his name). I was greeted when I walked in by the manager. I place my order and was informed that I had to pay (cash) at the bar. After paying and waiting (40 mins) I go to check on the delay. Only to discover that they mistakenly forgot to place my order. The manager was more than apologetic. Even to the point of wanting to comp my meal. Understanding that mistakes happen I agreed to let it pass and in support of this new business venture I refused to allow them to comp me. Overall I was there about an hour. When I gotten home, I discovered that my order was incomplete. Missing three sides. I ordered 2 sandwiches w/fries and a chicken tender plate/with Cole Slaw and fries. I only received 1 fries. Again this not a review of the FOOD. Because the Sandwiches and the Tenders were all of that I will return. And oh yeah I'm sticking with the medium from now on. read more

We have been looking for a legit hot chicken sandwich since we moved to Chicago and I'm happy to say we finally found it here! Just ordered take out, was ready in 10 minutes, the staff was courteous and properly masked, and holy crap the food was delicious. We ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich (Hot) and the Donut Chicken Sandwich (Medium) with some fries and cheese sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the sauce was delicious, and the hot sauce rocked my face off. It was so good. We lived in LA for 5 years and have compared every chicken sandwich to Howlin' Rays, and none matched up. This one does. How Fry the Coop doesn't have a line around the building is beyond me. I really enjoyed this twist on Nashville hot chicken with the dry rubs. Mild was too mild, medium was just right with a lingering kick. Ready to try hot next time. The fries were crunchy but not hot enough temperature wise. Enjoyed the heaps of seasoning no these but needs to come with a custom cause. Hot chicken sandwich was great. The chicken was flavorful and not overly greasy. Chicken and waffles was great. Waffles had chunks of bacon in it adding flavor and texture. Strips for the chicken aspect, only complaint is that two strips is a small portion for the $13. Terrible location, super tough to park, but the food came out fist. We were hanging st a friend's house and they decided to order from here for dinner. I am a person who can handle a heat so I ordered my chicken sandwich hot. When they say they are hot they aren't kidding. Even the medium was super hot. I couldn't even finish my sandwich it was so spicy! My boyfriend drank his daughter's milk to kill the heat. I enjoyed the sandwich but the spice level was a little too much. We ordered sides with our sandwiches and they just gave us multiple orders of fries. Fiancé and I both ordered the medium spiced Nashville chicken sandwich with a couple of sides. The chicken was decently juicy with a subtle crunch. Not heavily battered. Spice level seemed more mild than medium. Perhaps the slaw and sweet pickles brought it down. My fiancé said he felt the sandwich needed "a little more sauce". I thought the slaw was fairly bland and needed more oomph to better complement the sandwich. Sides were laughable in size. Literally, we laughed when we saw the size of the mac n cheese. The fries were in a kids meal sized bag. They were good though. Overall, tasty, but not worth the price. If you're hungry, order multiple sides. The food here is solid and reasonably priced. I love chicken fingers/tenders and this place has some good ones. I've only had delivery but that's always been quick and the food quality has been good. The tender plate comes with a good amount of food and I would recommend it. One word of caution, there is a significant difference between the 'medium' and 'hot' spice levels. I like things spicier than the average bear but hot had me sweating. Keep that in mind when making your selection. Overall, really good food and I would recommend you try it. I was glad to see new restaurants popping up on Chicago Avenue. The food was good but heavy, and it seem liked the restaurant was a little short staffed. I also didn't love that bar tab was separate than the food tab. As far as spice levels go, I don't really do too much spice and "medium" was just fine for me. My husband loves the heat. Went to the food truck at Brookfield zoo. Was so disappointed. 1 small tender on a hard bun. Couldn't eat the bun was so dry and hard. The chicken was also very dry. LOVE THIS PLACE! My husband was excited to try their chicken sandwiches when he saw they had opened new location in West Town. I am glad he was persistent. I got the mild Nashville chicken sandwich and it was delicious! The mac and cheese and fries were also delicious. They had awesome selections of local brewed beers and shelf full of Malort! The staff are super friendly and you can tell they really care and take pride in the food they serve. They want to make sure everyone is enjoying their time and the food. Oh my god , best place for fried chicken sandwich . Came in today for the first time to finally try out there food and I was not disappointed. Wonderful service from Edgar . He was very very helpful on explaining there options . Food was perfect and delicious . I had there spicy butter sandwich which I strongly recommend to try .
