Food is fabulous. Service is great, a little loud when busy. Nice down home diner. Only 4 stars because I don't like giving 5.

It doesn't matter what food plate you get, it is all good, breakfast, lunch or dinner time. The staff is every bit as nice and informative as you would expect in a local diner. I was even able to get their green beans recipe out of them. During the pandemic, they setup in their outdoor seating area and kept going like a dang Waffle House. The inside is no frills but nice and clean. I am honored to have them in my community. I hope this place lasts forever. read more

Simple diner. Original style .. what we remember all fines to be. Simple food. Great prices. Super friendly and quick service. Lots of folks and seems to be the hang out spot for the older guys - which means it's comfortable and affordable and must be good food for a good price! (They always know the best places for that!) WiFi free. Just off the highway. I had oatmeal (just like you make at home) and ordered a chicken sandwich to go for this afternoon. Will rate that soon. read more

Came to the diner for lunch based on yelp reviews, many that might be from family. Place is a little hole in the wall. Clean with nice staff. Basic diner food. Husband had a cheeseburger and onion rings. Very good. I ordered the BBQ with slaw. Pork had a weird taste. It was more like pork mush. Barbecue sauce on the side. Would probably try something different. Breakfast may be the bigger hit. Prices are good. read more

I've been on a diner kick lately- Looking for a good (decent) diner breakfast at a cheap price. I'm not looking for hipster/ fancy food- I want the real deal. I've been eating at every diner from Chapel Hill to Hickory- and Frye Daddy's is hand down the winner. The food tastes good and you can't beat the prices. This is the only diner that I've been to outside of New Orleans that actually serves you grits that are already seasoned, (butter, salt, and pepper- and the perfect consistency). We received more than three measly pieces of bacon with our order, and it was cooked perfectly. You can tell they've used their grill/griddle for sometime- because the flavors come out in your food. I mean this in the good, "homecooked meal" kind of way. You know the cast iron skillet with all that flavor in it- that's what their cook surface is like because everything that came to our table had a wonder flavor. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. There was one server, and she was pleasant and took care of all the tables in the place. When we arrived, there was only one other person in the diner, but the joint quickly filled up. (And we were there on a week day.) You can tell that this place is well loved by locals. It's not close to use by any means, but we will go back as it's our new favorite diner. I'll be comparing all other diners to this place from now on. It might not look like much- but if you want to honest to goodness diner experience- THIS is the place that you need to visit. read more

If I could go any lower I would! I got 3 hotdogs to and when I got home 2 of them had little black bugs in it. I called them to let them know and they got a really bad attitude with me. I told them I did not want a refund or anything from them that I was just calling to let them know so that they were aware. The lady on the phone was very confrontational and rude and told me that if they go bugs in them they got them in the car on the way home! The hotsdogs were wrapped up! Needless to say we will never go there again. If they had been nicer about it I would have maybe tried them again sometime. I understand that gnats and things are out right now. The attitude that I did something wrong is what got me worse than the bugs! Don't eat there!!! read more

I was very happy with the service here. Very friendly people. My fries were perfect. Beautifully match stick crispy. I also had the BLT. My only complaint was that the bread was softly toasted. Other than that no complaints. There are weekly specials that include chicken pot pie on thursday. Next I drive out this way I'm coming on a Thursday, because I was sad that I could not order the chicken pot pie. read more

This place may look old but it is spotlessly clean and the service is wonderful and VERY fast. Food is really good. However, the thing that REALLY stands out about this place is the prices. I got the breakfast special of 2 sausage patties, bacon, 3 eggs, 2 pancakes, a double serving of hash browns, and toast for $6! SIX DOLLARS!!! That's crazy awesome! Also, I am very picky about my hash browns. I like them extremely crispy and every other place I've gone I have to say that I want them very very very very very very very very crispy and they still come out soft. This place is the only place That has done it perfect. I even ate most of it like chips! Dad had some good country ham, so if you like country ham you might want to stop here. read more

Great little hole in the wall place service was fast and friendly. The food feels homemade and tastes like good southern home cooking. The country style steak was delicious and the Mac and cheese was very good as well. Wonderful peach cobbler. I would have taken the whole pan home if that was an option. The best place in Burke County for the price. I can eat here everyday and my wife for under a hundred bucks. They have a great staff and a great friendly cook. Just good down home cooking. And the cat and the customers are always friendly and talkative. If you're friendly and not old hag you would love this place. read more
