The food is on point and the pricing is reasonable. Customers need to keep in mind that FR offers two types of meat: fried and smoked, and there are distinct differences between the two. Have only had the smoked pork BBQ ribs and sides, not the fried chicken (yet); but I will drive here from DC to get their vittles, and that's saying something. I'm a fan of ribs, and the tenderness of their rib meat impresses me as well as having a nice bark on it that's easy to chew. This is difficult feat to accomplish, so these folks know what they're doing. I like the mac & cheese; has a delicate, subtle, crunchy topping that's complementary. The potato salad is classic, hefty and tasty. P.S. This place is not closed. I was just there 2 days ago.

Basic fried chicken. Good, but nothing memorable

On a long walk, I passed by Fryers and stopped in. I've tried to make it into Fryers a few times before, but despite their hours being listed online indicating they were open, each time, it was closed. So, I was fairly excited to get to actually try them. The location, on New Hampshire, in that little plaza across from Noodle King, has gone through a lot of recent residents. I remember when it was an ice cream store, then a deli, then a really good taverna. Some of these places have been good enough that you wonder why they aren't lasting. Fryers, on the other hand, isn't apt to actually last for any reason. The inside of the restaurant makes it clear that they're mostly a take out business. A single table is inside, with two seats. Otherwise, there's nowhere inside to sit, and outside doesn't look very appealing any longer, either. They are sending the message, "grab your food and go!" I ordered a four piece, which came with a roll -- no other side -- and also got a soda. The roll looked like they picked them up in bulk from the grocery store, just very blah. The chicken was juicy and well cooked, but as others have indicated, it wasn't exactly bursting with flavour. It was just plain mediocre -- not bad, but nothing memorable or good. Fried chicken is easy, there are lots and lots and lots of fried chicken restaurants around -- within just a couple of minutes of Fryers, there's others, including at least two big chain restaurants. If you're going to last, you need something that sets you apart, and nothing Fryers offered did that. It wasn't unique, it didn't have great flavour, it just ... was. It was edible, it was fine, it was okay, but I'm not craving going back anytime soon. Worse than that, it was expensive. I can run down to the famous chicken chain nearby and get a 4-pc, including a drink and a side, for about 30% less than what I paid for my meal at Fryer's -- and Fryers doesn't even include a side with theirs! I think the chain chicken is at least as good, if not better, and cheaper. So, as much as I'd love to support an independent(ish) business, I can't think of a good reason to go back. Oh, they do have ice cream -- but the entire ice cream area was a mess when I went there, and I didn't try it.

My sisters and I are fried chicken lovers, so we always get fried chicken out when I am visiting the DC area. Fryer's Roadside is not far from sister's house in Four Corners. We got lunch here on a Sunday and they had a steady stream of customers ordering take out. They have a couple of hi top tables inside and 3 picnic tables outside if you want to dine there. We ordered take out. I had their Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It was good. A good size for the price I paid for them. Definitely better than Popeye's or any fast food place. It has slaw, pickles and a huge chunk of boneless chicken. A little messy to eat, so you're gonna need a lot of napkins! Their hot sauce is nice and hot so I would suggest dipping your sandwich into the hot sauce if you want it hotter. My sister also bought a box of 8 piece chicken. I tried one of the thighs. It wasn't as crunchy as I would have liked but the flavor of their seasoning is good. The chicken was really moist. I also tried the Mac and Cheese (good) and the fries. They are very generous with the fries and they are not from frozen bagged potatoes. They are made from fresh potatoes. They get soft fast so eat them right away when they hand them to you. For dessert, I had the Turtle Sundae. It was nice and refreshing on a warm day! My niece really liked it. I would definitely return if I am craving fried chicken. Always happy to support a family owned business.

Ohhhhhh my goshhhhhhh. That's it. That's the review. Kidding! But seriously, RUN. Don't walk here. It's that good. My husband and I have pretty low expectations when it comes to finding a good fried chicken place because it's either bad quality chicken, not spicy, bland or all of the above. The only other fried chicken place we love is Jollibee. We ordered the 4 piece dark meat chicken box just to try it out and I regret not getting more. The chicken was suppppper flavorful and juicy. It was also super crunchy and fried fresh. It wasn't spicy (which we love) but there was no need for it because of how tasty it was. It also came with some dinner rolls which were okay, and your sauce of choice. Their sauces are amazing! Especially the spicy one (can't remember the name) Honestly, this place is super underrated and I'm glad so my husband and I can have all the chicken for ourselves hehe. Highly highly recommend!!! Parking is a breeze, it's located in a shopping center with parking right in the front.

    Chicken tenders

The chicken tenders were perfectly seasoned and nice and thick. I ordered the Mumbo sauce but was also given the house special sauce which was really tasty. The lemonade was the perfect blend or sweet and tart. I didn't see any pulp but it was still good and refreshing.

We did takeout during the soft opening so we didn't get the "full" experience. We were looking forward to the biscuits but instead had dinner rolls in our boxes. The chicken was delicious. Like, wow. I'm not usually one to go for fried chicken but the boneless tenders were thick, juicy, meaty, and had the right amount of lightly seasoned breading. The fries had to be reheated so I don't think I can properly judge those. My parents are excited to have Fryers so close by so I'm sure I'll be back.

This should be included in the chapter of places I drive past so often, it's a shame to not stop and try. It was a Sunday too, and we always want a chicken sandwich on a Sunday. The sandwich has a good spicy zing that lingers, but not so overpowering to the point you're sweating out our ancestral dramas. Like, you know how some hot sauces linger in your throat and seem to burn all the way down? This hotness stays in your mouth, lol. Inside is a dollop of cool cole slaw smashed between a hot crispy chicken chunk and soft bun, but I know the real hero of this meal is the wrapper keeping together all the sauce and flavor bits. I give this sandwich the messy bite approval, both polished thumbs up!

Too much technology to just order a sandwich. And they don't take cash. And you have to be a computer wizard to order online.

The menu is not your typical hot dog stand as you can get burgers, cheesesteaks, and a variety of sides and other items. Depending on when you stop by, there could be a line and the food is made fresh, so the wait might be longer than expected. However, the food is really good. We ordered two burgers -- the classic smash burger (lettuce, tomato, mayo, and cheese) and the BBQ bacon burger (grilled onions, bacon, and BBQ sauce) -- along with their famous cheesesteak combo. The cheesesteak came loaded with lettuce, jalapeños, tomato, and steak infused with peppers and onions, topped with Marky's-style cheese, plus seasoned fries and a soda. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I can't recommend this place enough -- especially knowing they're part of our local community. I've walked past this gem so many times without realizing what I was missing! It's tucked away in the Home Depot parking lot on Little River Turnpike, so don't sleep on it. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the entire menu.

Who was Weenie Beenie and what is it like? We had no idea but we knew they were one of the first,…read moreif not the first, to serve the legendary half-smoke sausages only available in DC. The visit was unique, the story is unique and the food is unique! Let's do this! Established in 1950 or 1954 (reports vary but the sign on the building says 1954), Weenie Beenie was a modest hot dog stand serving hot dogs and beans. It was started by two brothers, Carl and Bill Staton. Bill happened to be an incredible and ultimately famous traveling pool player who went by the name... you guessed it... Weenie Beenie! He won 27k in Arkansas (which is a LOT of money in the 1950's) and used the money to finance the hot dog stand's growth! He appeared on television, played hustlers across the country, and backed other hustlers while living the pool and entrepreneur life. During the 50's, a period of entrenched segregation in Virginia, Weenie Beenie distinguished itself by hiring black employees on the same terms as whites when most white‑owned businesses would not hire blacks at all. This made Weenie Beenie a rare example of early workplace integration in Arlington and a meaningful employer within the historically Black Green Valley community. Its reputation for fairness became a very important part of its legacy, remembered along with the food and its very colorful founder. We popped over and found a 70+ year old walk-up stand with a colorful, diverse and engaging set of customers and friendly service. In faded letters on the front wall to the left are the 10 commandments! No breaking any divine rules at Weenie Beenie's! We all chatted and I learned the one guy comes every day! The old man in the suit was very polite and reserved. The younger Latin and black clientele were fun and engaging and we joked around quite a bit. Another older man was as 38-year veteran of the armed service! Thank you sir! I heard some stories... Of course, we ordered half-smokes! They are well-seasoned half-pork, half beef, smoked sausages that are truly incredible. Weenie Beenie's are unique and delicious! Life is good with a historic, unique, fun and respectful half smoke.

The Chicken tenders weren't tender and the coating was over-salted. The full rack of BBQ Pork ribs was a winner, tender and meaty with great flavor. The Slow-smoked Chicken is delicious and a nice, moist change from the usual chicken treatments. The Smoked Chicken Wings were great too. I wouldn't get the Texas Beef Brisket or the Carolina Pulled Pork again, but they weren't bad, just lots of other choices that were better! The sides here are stand-outs too. I almost didn't get the vegetarian Collard Greens since I love collards cooked with meat but these were delicious -- they never made it to the microwave, they were so vinegary-good when I sampled them cold lol! The Mac & Cheese was good and cheesy. The baked beans were good but again vegetarian where I'd prefer meat included and I didn't care for the sweet sauce. The Skillet Cornbread is the best I've had, slightly sweet with a good corn flavor that made me decide to buy a WHOLE skillet rather than just the generously portioned slice next time, especially since it's such a good value. I do regret not trying the coleslaw and potato salad so again, next time. The little rolls are tasty too, moist and slightly sweet but it's a pity they aren't burger-size so you can make a sandwich with all that delicious meat and sides.
