Somewhat mixed review. The food was very good and that was the main reason for the four stars. The (one) guy working/owner is amazing. He does it all, like others have stated, takes order, cooks, etc. The issue is that you cannot phone them. They are a business that does not have a phone that rings or is picked up. AND... he only takes a few people at a time. He literally locked the door while I was there because he was making two orders and had two people waiting. I guess that he takes the amount of orders that he can handle and that's it. Admirable, even if it's a fundamental problem for customers. A sign outside would help and be a talking point at the same time. With all that said, I would go back over and over... and wait to get in if I had to. read more

It was good. Fried dumplings were good, curry chicken was good, chicken and vegetables was good. Not sure why the special fried rice was yellow, it was OK.. I ain't saying great, but for Raleigh it ranks up toward the top, especially east Raleigh. Its all relative, and compared to mos,,t he's getting 4 stars. For anyone familiar with the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld, this is the Chinese takeout version. This guy is a bit of a loose canon and gets easily annoyed with customer nonsense, which I find hilarious. For all the 1 star reviewers, some of you brought it on yourself. So, I have been trying to find a place to get great crab rangoons and appetizers, and this.....this is IT! Many of the appetizers in your typical take-out are afterthoughts and generally not well executed. Not the case here. I usually don't get the big meals or combos to go, I just get three apps and keep it movin' Well, I ordered the crab rangoons, teriyaki beef, egg rolls, and the pot stickers. They all hit the mark. EVERY. Single. One. The teriyaki beef was flavorful and tender, the pot stickers (I got mine fried) were crisp on the outside, juicy and hot on the inside, and the crab Rangoons were everything I have wanted out of life until that moment. I want and need more of them. The owner is the restaurant....literally a one man show....and he is a little crazy but maybe that's why his food is so damn good and keeps people coming back for more. As stated it is a one man show, but he does a great job and I have never been dissatisfied with any dish that I ordered. Maybe I am ordering the wrong things, but I don't understand why everyone loves the place. We tried the shrimp fried rice and the shrimp and broccoli. The shrimp fried rice seems to be made with yellow rice instead of using fish sauce and oyster sauce for flavor. Shrimp and broccoli also was lacking flavor. I can't give this place much of a review on the food because I walked in and while waiting to order observed a major health code violation. I feel bad because I think he was the only one working, but the chef in the back took a rag, wiped his face, and then wiped the inside of a pot he then put on the stove to use. A solid 4. I soo wanted to give a 5 to Fu Kee Express, because I had read some really great reviews and was really hyped about visiting. Never mind that we would most likely have to wait 25 minutes for take-out, or that the owner is unable to answer the phone--that's because he really is the only one on staff in the restaurant. All these things aside ... we were excited to try this new place, and say good bye to China Fu. We ordered sesame chicken, orange chicken, Mongolian beef and two egg and shrimp rolls, and three beverages to-go for about $50 + tip. My husband said the beef was good--I didn't try it; because it has too many onions for me. My daughter ordered the orange chicken and said it was good, but did not really taste orange-y. She was right; it was hard to tell difference between the orange and sesame chicken, aside from the sesame seeds, they tasted very similar. As for the sesame chicken, it had a good flavored sauce and it was made with all white meat, which is unusual too find for take out around here. However, it was a little too breaded for me--not nearly as much a China Fu. I really wish the chicken was crisper. Next time we go, I will ask if the chicken can be crisper. Also, the shrimp and pork egg rolls were really good. Fu Kee does not fill them with a lot of cabbage. You could definitely see the large shrimp and chunks of pork in each egg roll. And our wait was only 15 minutes, so that was good. Overall, a very good experience. We will definitely try Fu Kee Express again for take out. Thank you. read more

We ordered orange chicken, chicken and broccoli, shrimp rolls and crab rangoon. I'm a little torn as to how many stars to give. Initially I called to place a lunch order. It was around 2 o'clock and I asked if there were lunch specials. The gentlemen answers the phone by saying "hello" (most people usually say the name of the business you've reached but OK) and his tone is very short/rude. He said he didn't have rangoon or shrimp rolls during the day but I could call back after 5. Usually this would have stopped me from calling back but he said he prepares them fresh himself, he had just gotten a delivery and needed to make them. The fried rice is actual just yellow rice. The crab rangoon is a nice size and very good. The shrimp rolls could have used a few pieces of shrimp but they were good considering. I would not get the Orange chicken again as it was overcooked. However, that chicken and broccoli is on point. He answers the phone, prepares the food, brings the food to the door and gets the money. Needless to say he is working alone and needs to hire someone else so things can flow a little easier. We called the order in and per the other reviews instead of the 30 minutes he said it would take we waited 45 to pick up and it still wasn't ready. Always busy. If you're patient, it's the freshest standard Chinese fare in the area. Place your order in person and give yourself 20 - 30 mins for it to be prepared. I don't give a very bad review unless I feel it's warranted above and beyond the food. Food here was subpar at best. The owner/operator here knows how to sell. Several of us thought the food was subpar at best. First thing I thought of was how deeply colored the orange chicken was. It was deep crimson. If the cook/operator cared much about health and freshness, why does he use heavy coloring? None of the items were good. We trashed them all after tasting them. It was THAT bad. I'm perplexed and disappointed. I was hoping to find a good Chinese restaurant... yet another major let-down. What really turned me off from Fukee was that everyone gets told by the owner that tue food is fresh and made to order. He also doesn't hang an open sign and locks the doors when it gets busy. What I'm seeing is that these behaviors are all manipulative behivaior rather than unforseen actions as a result of the food being so good. Everytime I order food it is ready when I come and pick it up and I only live 5-7 minutes away. He says it will be done in 20 he means it. Extremely clean inside his restaurant and it smells great. From what you can see into the kitchen it looks very clean and in order. The food is always exactly what I ordered even when I order for my extended family which can be a lot of dishes. My parents loved it and put the left overs in their car first! The owner is really nice and polite he is always funny so that is a plus. Pretty impressive for a one man operation. The food is cooked while you wait instead of sitting in bins being kept warm. The food seems fresh and tastes similar to what you might expect from a traditional Chinese takeout joint. If you're lucky the owner will throw a couple insults at you while you order (I think for fun but not 100% sure). He regularly calls me "cheap" which although is possibly accurate, was unexpected at first. Prices are probably a bit high based on the physical attributes of the building (read: older, plain, sticky tables) and also the fact that there is literally one guy running the place which can lead to longer wait times. Best Asian food in the state. Hands down. He is a one man show (cook, clean, take orders, etc). The price is higher than a lot of other locations, but you can easily taste the difference.
