    Sake flight
    Shanelle Y.

My family and I came for dinner on a Saturday night around 5 pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant is spacious and there is a big bar area with a lot of seating. Our waitress was friendly and the food came out really fast. For appetizers we shared the edamame and for drinks we tried the tropical fruit sake flight which was delicious - the peach was my favorite! For entrees I ordered the ginger garlic chicken. The sauce had a lot of flavor and the chicken was tender. I also tried a bite of the kung pao chicken, sesame chicken, sesame tofu, and the curry noodles and found each dish to be full of flavor. Overall, the food and service here were great. I took off one star because the dishes were pretty pricy (~$18-25) and the portions could've been bigger, especially considering the price.

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday with my daughter. It was super quiet. The decor is lovely with brick walls and pretty lights hanging from the ceiling. Service was great, very attentive. I recommend the wonton soup and the Malaysian curry with roti to start. I would skip the half fried pork dumplings which are kind of like doughy meatballs. The waiter said they are boiled then fried on the bottom. They were too dense for my taste. I also ordered an extra Malaysian curry with roti to go as well as sesame tofu with rice and egg roll. Not bad. The tofu is fried and slightly sweet. I'll try noodles the next time I come here!

I came here on a Wednesday night with coworkers for a bite to eat. The ambiance of this place is really cool. First off, as soon as you walk into the door, you are immediately greeted by floor to ceiling brick walls and arched doorways. This had to have been an older building converted into a restaurant. That was really cool! I ordered their green tea and the presentation was really cool. It came out in a white ceramic tea pot. The tea wasn't very hot though, that was a little disappointing, as it was a cold night and I was expecting something warm. For my appetizer, I ordered their wonton soup and that was absolutely delicious. For entrees, my coworkers and I split their moosho pork, with steamed buns along with their sesame chicken. The flavor of the sauce of the sesame chicken dish was very good, and of a good consistency, but I found the chicken to be a little overcooked. On the flip side, I have nothing but great things to say about the moosho pork. The buns were also the most perfect pairing. I knocked off a star for the lukewarm tea and overcooked chicken, but I definitely would come back here again and try something else of their menu, the next time I'm in town!

Me and my best friend visited this place recently because we saw it was getting traction from social media. One comment even said that all the food on the menu was delicious, well let me tell you. The only thing that was good there was the pork dumplings and the Arnold Palmer that I had. I ordered the garlic and ginger chicken that came with fried rice. The fried rice tasted like eggs and the chicken was too salty and super chewy. My friend ordered lo mein noodles and she said her noodles were salty (they were I tried it too). The service was nice but the main reason we went there was for the food and we were very disappointed. Will not be coming back.

We stopped in this evening. I found the name of this place misleading when we landed at our table and upon review of the menu. The dumpling selection was weak. I envisioned a table full of various types of dumplings. Instead I got an appetizer course of reheated dumplings. The should call this place David's Appetizers and Noodles. The chicken and noodles entree was good and fresh. Really disappointed overall. Last visit.

We ordered the Shrimp Rangoon as an appetizer, and it's basically a piece of fried shrimp with a LITTLE cream cheese inside. So don't be expecting a giant piece of crab Rangoon like we were. The taste was still good, but it was not the cream cheesy goodness we were expecting. For entrees I got the sesame chicken (YUM), and my husband ordered the Kung Pao chicken. It was not that spicy like the menu says. To me, it tasted so much like cashew chicken. Our waitress was nice, and the restaurant itself was so cute and intimate on a Saturday evening. Lastly, portion sizes are a bit smaller than your typical Chinese restaurant, but that quality was out of this world.

The restaurant is spacious and kept nice. The staff was friendly. We were seated and it took at least 15 mins or more for someone to help us. The food was hot and came out pretty quick. The dumplings were stuffed with meat and was filling. I didn't care too much for the oyster sauce, it was too salty but I ended up dunking my dumplings in ginger soy sauce which was better suited for me. The salt and pepper chicken was cooked perfectly however felt it could use a sauce. It was my first time having anything with sake and it was good, still not sure exactly what sake is but it taste Asian to me with mixture of apple and wine. I'd get the drink again I'd come back and try other things on the menu.

We were staying at the DoubleTree on Hillsborough so this was just a short 2 minute walk away. It was our first meal during our long weekend trip to Raleigh. We came around 6PM for some apps before exploring the city. It was pretty empty with only 2 other parties there while we were there. The space is spacious so we were seated a good distance away from them. What we ordered: - David's Original Half-Fried Dumplings (Pork, Napa Cabbage, Green Onions, Ginger Soy Sauce) - Shrimp Ragoon (Fried Jumbo Shrimp, Cream Cheese, Duck Sauce) - Salt & Pepper Wings (Salt and Pepper Seasoning) - Edamame & Mushroom Dumplings (Edamame, Mushrooms, Cilantro, Oyster Sauce, Sesame Oil, Ginger Soy Sauce) Everything came out timely and accurately. Our waitress was very sweet and was attentive. The best appetizer in our opinion is the shrimp rangoon but unfortunately it only came in an order of 3 for $5 and the size was very small. Not sure if we would revisit in the future but it was good.

Came here on Sunday with a big group of friends. Portion size is pretty decent, as my friend says the dumpling appetizer is "hardy"! We all enjoyed our dumplings and noodle dishes. The spicy level is not very high so I would suggest asking for extra spicy if you truly love some heat! Service was great. They only took a few mins to set up tables for the big group and was able to get us all separate checks without mistakes. Lunch ends around ~2pm and we were given dinner menu when we arrived at 2:10pm!

Based on the reviews, my family and I were going to pass on this place. Sooooo glad we decided to be our own food critics!! The food, service and ambiance were all top knotch. We had pad thai, singapore noodles, salt and pepper chicken wings, edamame, wanton soup, a chicken salad of some sort (pictured below) and crab ragoons. Forgot all the pics but we will definitely return.

Just visited last week with my adult daughter. We walked right in at about 5 pm on a Saturday. We were greeted immediately upon entering and sitting right away. We ordered two Saki drinks , which were served quick. We placed our orders, I ordered shrimp pad, Thai and my daughter ordered a noodle dish with tofu. My dish was very good, I have had better, but it was definitely good. There was a lot of fresh shrimp in it too. I also had the wonton soup which was also delicious. I will definitely come back!

I was extremely pleased with my experience here at David's Dumplings. It's hard to find really authentic Asian restaurants in the area, so I was happy to have stumbled across it. My Malaysian chicken curry was shwae from the tippy top to the very bottom. The flavors brought me back to my days in Asia. Plus, we got our food pretty quickly. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he recommended my meal and did not steer me wrong!!

Good dumplings for a long day at a conference. My hot and sour soup was so scrumptious. I enjoyed a walk around the park after dinner.

I came right before a show at the Alamo Drafthouse around the corner, which makes it the perfect night out for dinner and show. It looks like a lot of people order takeout here, but they have ample tables and do offer an excellent dine in service. I loved their green beans and eggplant. All their food felt more authentic and homestyle than your typical run of the mill Chinese place. The food had flavor, and it wasn't overly greasy either! I ordered the lo mein, bamboo flounder fish, and a side of fried rice. Unfortunately, the lo mein was extremely greasy, the fried rice was overly salty, and the shrimp was hard, overcooked and not fresh. When I informed the waiter that I would not be eating the lo mein due to its condition, I was told that I would still have to pay for it and that it did not matter whether I liked it or not. He initially refused to remove the dish from my bill. After eventually taking it off, he told me that he never wanted to see my face again as I was leaving. What disappoints me most is that I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant and had been a repeat customer. The decline in food quality combined with the way my concerns were handled has left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I was actually a little nervous going in because certain Chinese dishes tend to upset my stomach, so I tried to avoid some of the heavier noodle and chicken dishes that normally do that to me. Honestly, I think that was the best decision because I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and felt completely fine afterwards. I started with the crab rangoons, which were perfectly creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside -- absolutely delicious. Then I tried the pork-filled bao buns, which was my first time ever having them, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them too. Everyone else at our table seemed to really enjoy their food as well. I genuinely didn't hear a single complaint. We also ordered some drinks that were delicious, and both our server and the rest of the staff were absolutely fantastic and very welcoming throughout the night. The atmosphere and vibes inside are honestly one of the coolest parts of the experience. It somehow feels like a mix between a brewery, a florist, a bookstore, and a Chinese restaurant all at once. It's such an interesting and unique space that doesn't really feel like anywhere else. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would absolutely come back to try more items on the menu.

There were tables to seat 4, two tall stool seats by the window facing the parking lot, and a tucked away spot with a folding chair beside it and had cups of utensils on it. I ordered the cold flour noodle with sesame sauce and the shaanxi mutton soak buns. Both were tasty and the cold noodles were refreshing. The employee described the mutton soak buns dish as a soup soaked pancake which is pretty accurate. It reminds me of a rice porridge but with chopped dough instead of rice. The restroom is in the back through the kitchen which is kinda cool because you can see them rolling out all the round flat bread that they use for the dishes. I'm guessing it's what they use for the rougamo (I've seen it at other Chinese restaurants described as a Chinese hamburger) and the shaanxi soak buns. It almost has a gnocchi type of consistency. It isn't your average fried rice and stir fry type of Chinese restaurant so if you're looking for something like that it might not meet your expectations. I would definitely come back to try other menu items. Also, get the plum juice. It's delicious!
