While it's been a few years since I've step foot in Fu Long Deli, when I do it always feels like just yesterday. Well, I returned this morning after sleeping over my folks place in Queens and had such a great breakfast. As soon as I stepped in, I was warmly greeted by the wonderful Mr. Lee. He and his wife have been running this awesome neighborhood gem since the mid 90's... absolutely wild! As soon as you enter, you notice two things.. 1) It's such a throwback to delis from yesteryear 2) Just how darn clean they keep it. The counters were spotless! Mr. Lee is still an absolute wizz with a spatula. Nobody, and I mean nobody can whip up (and wrap up) a bacon, egg and cheese or a BLT like he does. This time around, my gf and I dined in and we both got a classic platter of two eggs over-easy, bacon, home fries & toast, for only about $7.99 each! The eggs were PERFECT, the bacon was crispy without any signs of being burnt, and the home fries were potato heaven. Also, I ran out of toothpaste and was in desperate need for a new tube before starting the day. And wouldn't you know it, Mr. Lee had several different brands in stock and saved me a trip to the pharmacy. read more

We moved into the neighborhood over 20 years ago and have been getting breakfasts from Fu Long every once in a while. I still stop in to pick up a bacon and egg on a roll (sometimes w/ cheese) whenever the mood strikes me. When my son was young, I would take him to early Sunday morning swim lessons at Queensborough Community College and we would stop back here for breakfast. We would sidle up to the counter stools and my son would need some help getting up onto the free-spinning seat. Sometimes Mr & Mrs Lee's kids will be doing homework at the end of the counter. "Mr. Lee, 2 Breakfast Specials with eggs over easy and white toast, please!" Mr Lee would crack 4 eggs onto the flattop grill, chop up some more potatoes for the home fries, flip the turkey bacon in the broiler and pop 4 slices of bread into the toaster. Then he would scoop up the sizzling eggs, potatoes, bacon on 2 heavy plates, butter the toast and lay them on the counter in front of us. We would dip our toast into the egg centers and swish it around to sop up the liquidy yolks. I really miss those father & son bonding days. read more

Grew up going to this place for a drink and a sandwich after playing handball. Today I got a sausage egg and cheese from the same super nice couple that have been running it for decades. It was perfect, as expected. Going to get a chicken cutlet sandwich next time for old times sake. P.S. I shouldn't expect much from a deli but I expect that as a business owner you care about the quality of services and products you offer. I did not get that feeling from the management of this deli. The food was crap. It tasted like it was sitting around uncooked for days and they just threw it on a hero when I got there. I was disgusted enough that I threw out my entire hero. I should have taken a picture but I did not think before the song in the garbage. Do not eat here especially when there are many other choices to choose from in the area. read more

So in case you're wondering why I'm reviewing a convenience store, read on. I normally don't go to convenience stores because I think they are usually a rip off - hence the word convenience which usually means a 30 - 40% mark up. This place really isn't that bad or perhaps I'm just a really good planner and I usually don't need the convenience of an over priced store but the one or two times that I've needed things like a fresh loaf of bread or a jar of pasta sauce - I found what I needed, the items weren't expired which they usually are at these places and they really weren't that over priced. The best thing about this place is that they have a really inexpensive breakfast special that includes any combination of eggs, some kind of breakfast meat - ham/bacon/sausage, wheat/white toast or a roll, a cup of coffee or tea, and a cup of orange juice - all for the low price of $2.99 but the catch is that you have to get there before 11AM on week days or 1PM on weekends. Not bad if I may say so myself. The place doesn't look like much and there is another convenience store right across the street but the owners at Fu Long are really nice, the prices are really inexpensive, the place is relatively clean, the short order cook that works there is really fast, and the food is surprisingly good. We usually get the breakfast specials, breakfast sandwich, or a BLT on a roll or sub roll. This is definitely not the place to bring a date, but if you're in the mood for something really quick and decently prepared, give it a try. I've had okay and bad experiences with this deli. The okay experience was when I bought an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. I enjoyed the sandwich and it cost a fair price. The bad experience was when I bought a roast beef hero from them. They advertise a "$4.99 roast beef hero" on their outside window, but it comes with one big caveat: that $4.99 price is essentially for meat and bread only. They charge extra for lettuce, tomato, and cheese without telling you so. Hell, they might have charged me extra for the mayo for all I know. So in the end, this $4.99 hero ended up costing me $7.50 because of the deli owner's blatant refusal to be forthright up front about their pricing practices. read more

Enter the store expecting to be disappointed. The place looks dirty and dusty.. The snacks are probably past expiration - good thing they sell other things besides food - like sponges- bring double the money you would naturally be paying for those items. read more

Classic mom and pop spot. Their breakfast special and bacon egg and cheese are always on point.

Old school looking small deli that has bodega style look; dusty,dirty,as many items as can be on the shelves.The male owner is either nice to certain customers or is so opposite by making you feel unwelcome. He needs to improve on being polite to all customers. Also, get cooks who can cook better including yourself. read more

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews, the snacks aren't expired, and the food they serve isn't bad either. Sometimes they are having a bad day, might ask you to hurry up and choose something instead of loiter around. The prices are okay, I've seen better (for the snacks). The prices for the sandwiches and stuff are a bit high, but if you want a cheap lunch a Pizza Bagel is good. Overall good place to eat. read more

I've known this place since forever, having moved here 13 yrs ago; Man, this place was real bad before, but i dont know how it is now not that id go in anyways for any reason; i stepped in a while ago n they seem to be ingratiating with u now prob b/c they realized their attitude was turning ppl off; man, when schoolkids used to come in, trying to take their time picking out candy, theyd shout at their customers n the schoolkids n say, "Hurry up!" You'e spent too long in here! Pick something already! Dang, how do u treat ur customers w/ this kind of disrespectful hospitality? Plus, my mom n dad used to buy newspapers from here but dont do it ever again; they'd shortchange u all the time; My dad walked in to buy milk once, paid w/ a 5, n then left; only when he realized at home, like "hey, where the hell was my change?" Thats mad grimy n dishonest; how can u do that to ur local customers?
