I'd give Fuego a five because most of their drinks are fives. The deduction comes from their limited hours. I wish they could be open in the evening but given their location, it must be pretty difficult to maintain hours. I hope they succeed, they are another feather in the Rochester coffee scene, which I think is pretty darn good and getting better and better. The customer services is good and the owners take time to talk to you. The location is cozy and intimate. The mocha is good and not too sweet. I love a coffee shop where the interior is fresh, minimal, and spacious. If you're looking for a cup of energy or a place to meet up with friends and study, this is your place! Many outlets, great coffee, and a great ambience! The baristas are so kind and helpful! It was nine o'clock on a mid July morning, the sun beating down on the pavement like a deranged blacksmith at his forge. I was wearing shoes, clothes, and minimal luggage, but inside the baggage weighed at me. It had been almost two weeks since I'd had a cup of joe worthy of anything but grimacing despair. The place was small there was no doubt about it. A lone customer sat at the bar, carefully nursing his beverage. The barkeep watched me make my way to his counter. On the wall behind him was an array of coffee and tea paraphernalia all lined up like worshippers at the foot of the espresso machine gleaming like some modern Ba'al. I knew it was too early for Scotch and this wasn't that kind of joint anyhow. I ordered an espresso, double - "that's the only kind we make" he said. So far so good I thought. He took his time watching the dark and golden liquid stream into the cup. Then he placed it in front of me with that waiting look that dared me to expect anything other than the best cup of coffee on the block. And boy, was he wrong, if only because it wasn't just the best cup of coffee on the block. It was a sucker punch to the tastebuds, a crazed circus playful contrasts in one little tiny cup. It was a flavor, too, that I knew, but couldn't place in an espresso. "Where is this coffee from" I asked the barkeep. "It's an Ethiopian" he said with a wry smile like he knew I was hooked. I'd chased dames all over the world and sampled the coffee on every stop, but a lively Ethiopian bean in an espresso was a new one. And I knew it would be something I sought out again. read more

First time to the new located Fuego! I really want to love it here since I always hear great things about it from countless friends of mine, but I just can't see myself choosing this place over the other numerous coffee shops in Rochester. Maybe I haven't found that one thing to hook me yet. There is a coffee bar up at the front and an actual liquor bar just behind it (which seems out of place, I thought it wasn't even part of the space- the worker said there are still some renovations to come in making the place what they want it to be. (more reviews to come when the renovations finish!) I'm not a huge "coffee enthusiast", I like the coffee but I wouldn't be able to pick it out among the rest out there. However I'm a huge Matcha fan! If a shop has it, I get it and compare! For those who may not know- Matcha is a green tea powder that is said to have the same amount of caffeine as a strong cup of coffee, if not more. The powder has to be blended very well (can't just stir it in with a spoon) otherwise it doesn't permeate throughout and chunks of green powder form in the drink.. Yuck! Here I got an iced Matcha Latte: it was well blended (no pesky green powder at the top or bottom). The taste of the actual matcha was subtle with an overbearing taste of milk. I do tend to like my Matcha lattes sweet, so I added some vanilla flavoring to it to see if it would help, but it continued to taste of milk with a hint of matcha. I would go to Boulder over this place for their Matcha latte. However it was only my first time ordering their matcha latte, I will try once again and return with my review then! ...til next time! read more

If there's a coffee stand, I'm there. Fuego Coffee Roasters was our first stop at the Brighton Farmer's Market. I was looking at the cold brew, but saw "French Quarter" on the menu and was curious. The boyfriend said to get it, so I did. The guys were very friendly and explained what it was. It is a chicory roasted iced coffee that is blended with a touch of milk and agave-- and out of this world! Definitely hits the spot if you're looking for a creamier coffee and don't want all the extra sugar pumps and creams. I didn't feel bad drinking this as it was made with natural ingredients. I was really impressed with the quality of the offerings here. We had their cold brew iced coffee which was super flavorful and delicious with many different nuances. Also picked up an assortment of their roasted beans, which we are enjoying at home...I particularly like the Kenyan Peaberry. Super nice and enthusiastic owners, with a true passion for their craft. Fuego is the greatest. I couldn't be happier that it is so close to where I live. Every encounter I've had with the staff has been superb, and you can tell they love what they do (and do it well!) I usually stick to black pour-overs (I like trying their various brewing methods), and occasionally I like to indulge in a cortado (because everyone else doesn't get it right...Fuego does!) Seems like they now offer drip coffee in addition to their pour-over methods; this will probably be great for when I'm in a bit of a hurry. well I've come back, twice since, and the new baristas are so knowledgable. I enjoy their milk Drinks, with amazing consistency. Haven't had a shot here but I assume it's just as great. He is also the best barista in Rochester with much more of a friendly bartender vibe than the snootiness I've unfortunately come to expect. Cold brew was very good, though not the best I've had. He has also gifted me with an off-menu specialty latte that was sensational (ask about that lol). The macaroons they sell are also out of this world. I went for the grand opening and was quite impressed. The owners are friendly and enthusiastic as well as very knowledgeable with out being intimidating. When I was asked if I noticed certain nuances in the coffee I did not feel like it was an exam, nor did I feel like a looser for adding cream and sugar to my coffee. The Guatemalan I sampled was very good, as was the Kenya Peaberry. I bought a bag of each, as well as the Sumatra, So far I am definitely enjoying them using our French press. They also had Rohrbach's root beer- yum. I tried the iced coffee, which was cold brewed for 24 hours and was amazing! The flavor was bold, and held up well with the ice, not to mention the cream and sugar I inflicted on it. I also tried the New Orleans stile Iced coffee with chicory and agave nectar, I was not a fan, but I seemed to be in the minority since every one else was raving about it. If you like chicory this stile, this is apparently an excellent one. If you are looking for a good cup of coffee, or a bag of beans, stop by and try it, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

This is my go-to place for everything. They have excellent coffee that has yet to let me down, whether in flavor or in quality, and a very open, light, and friendly ambiance that is incredibly welcoming. I always go there to do work remotely, so I'm often there for hours at a time. There are gorgeous views outside their huge, open windows, which make any day look picturesque and warm. The artwork on display is constantly inspiring and thought-provoking, and they clearly have a wonderful system for selecting artists. My sole complaint is that their chairs are not super comfortable unless you can get access to the couches, which are generally taken. Due to this, I tend to spend less time here if I can't get a spot on a couch simply because the wooden benches and metal chairs desperately need some padding. Otherwise, I would basically live in Fuego. The staff are always incredibly friendly and work toward getting to know their regulars and their drink orders and habits. There is always a personal touch to the ordering process, regardless of how busy they are. Whatever they're doing in training is incredibly effective and they always seem to hire amazing people. read more
