This place has such a cute interior, and the food is pretty good, but they were definitely short-staffed. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't busy, but the waitress was doing everything--seating us, making drinks, and serving. Our drinks came after our appetizer and only started being made after we placed our main orders. I ordered a dragon roll which was delicious. The other meals were tasty as well. Later on when we were just about finished eating, more people started to arrive and the music started getting louder. Then it was a VIBE! The music was good and the atmosphere went from mellow to lively. I think that if we came just a little later, we wouldn't have been as impatient with our food and drinks. We came here on our trip to downtown riverside. The food was good and well priced. We got the chicken combo plate with rice and veggies. The sauce was on the light side which we appreciated esp with our 15 month old son. We also got their tuna tacos which were good. Loved the crispy taco shells. This was my first time trying out this spot and it was awesome! I love the aesthetic vibes inside and how the restaurant had such friendly servers. Shoutout to Michelle for being so nice and helping me out. I got the gyozas for an appetizer and they were the BEST I've had. I never tried sesame seeds on them before, but it might be my new favorite thing. The sauce was delicious that it came in. I came for the all you can eat sushi special and my two favorite rolls were the "Mexican flag" and the "lobster roll". Every single roll ordered was delicious and I'll definitely be back to try out the hibachi. They have chefs cooking at the bar where you can sit at and watch them. Disclaimer: This is a tough review to write because it's based upon a soft opening & the restaurant hasn't fully opened to the public yet, so I'll try to remain as unbiased as possible. Overall, I think they have a lot of kinks to work out still. Issues I experienced: 1. For the soft opening we were told by our leasing office we would get 2 free drinks per resident. In our experience 3 residents visited ordering 2 drinks each, upon seeing the final bill we were charged for 2 of the total 6 drinks that we ordered. 2. Two of us ordered steamed rice but received fried rice instead. (An upgrade charge, by the way) 3. One of us asked for teriyaki sauce and was charged extra for teriyaki sauce, but never received it. 4. Water refilling was lacking. Two people had to ask for water refills, and only one was ever refilled. Which is odd and I think it shows a lack of experience with the wait staff, because if one person at the table asks for a water refill and three people have empty waters, it would be typical to just refill everyone at once. 5. When I asked for a receipt at the end, it was a huge ordeal. They have a payment system that doesn't offer you a receipt upon paying/signing, you have to ask. The printer was not working, so it had to be texted to a phone number by verification of the last 4 digits on a credit card. My point being, we had to have 3 different conversations with 2 different staff members to get a copy of the receipt. All the conversation over it is just so off-putting for a simple request. I feel as if it is unnecessarily difficult to a get an itemized copy of what you ordered, especially given how many issues we had with what we had ordered versus what we were charged. 6. Additionally, unless you ask for a receipt, you won't know that they charge a "A 3% SURCHARGE HAS BEEN ADDED TO YOUR BILL TO DEFRAY THE INCREASED COST OF WAGES & BENEFITS. THANK YOU." 7. Lastly, I feel as if the ordering system/payment system is complicated for wait staff. We had to repeat our order to our server multiple times because she couldn't find where the items were located on the ordering device. Maybe it's a lack of experience, maybe it's a bad system, but again it made the ordering process unnecessarily long and difficult. Not our servers fault, she was trying her best between a rock and a hard place. Overall, we all agreed that our drinks were very weak and I'm not sure how much alcohol was in it. Food wise, it was just okay. For the price you're paying to eat here I think they have some serious issues to work through. I would be willing to try this place again, maybe in several months, if the issues I experienced get resolved. I hate to give such a low rating before the restaurant has fully opened to the public but I think it's important to be aware there are a lot of kinks. We randomly stumbled upon this place and I truly believe it was God sent Bertha was so welcoming she had so much patience with us, I had just came out of back surgery. She explained the menu and recommended many things! I ended up getting the dinner plate with chicken, medium well fillet mignon steak, veggies, rice & Bertha recommended the spicy noodles ( which were amazing and I re recommend them ) & a side of spicy edemame! Must have came on a bad tuesday night! Service was HORRIBLE. Lights were constantly flickering like strobe lights I thought I was going to have a seizure. Came here for a girls night a few weeks back and the thinking back still makes me cringe. Starting with the service, when we asked the server or runner questions about food or drinks items we were met with "oh, I don't know" or the staff reading the description off the page. Drinks made their way to the table and they were average. Decent flavor, not too sweet or syrup. But nothing you can't make better at home. Someone at our table order an aviation and the bartender said "what is that?". A bit rude and off putting, maybe a "Let me see if we have what we need to make that." And go back and google it at the least. A few appetizers were ordered. Nothing worth mentioning. Onto our meals, half the table ordered teppan, half sushi. ALL were underwhelmed. I ordered Steak and Shrimp combo, the fried rice has no flavor or texture. It almost tasted stale. My medium steak was tough like beef jerky. I probably took less than 10 bites of everything before leaving my entire plate. I tried some of the girls sushi, again the rice was so bad! The fish itself was not cold, it didn't taste like sushi grade fish. More like something you accidentally leave on the counter overnight. YUCK! Im honestly disappointed on how my first time experience played out here. We waiting an hour , gave down a name and phone number with a party of 4. Nobody called , we had to walk in there and ask , in order to get seated. We went to do the Ayce, so when we got seated right away we submitted our paper 9pm. Only water was giving to us for the mean time , we had order 2 miso , 1 edamame, 2 orders of gyoza. At 10pm , the server comes to let us know A WHOLE HOUE LATER , there isn't any more gyoza. After we notified I had to ask for them to at least give us the miso and edamame since we have been waiting for an hour. Our party decided just to leave, due to the fact we got there at 8pm , waited the hour, waited another just for our little appetizer, imagine waiting another hour for sushi. I really thought , due to the fact they would've at least discounted the miso or edamame for the whole situation we were experiencing, but they didn't. I paid $19.03 for an hour later miso and edamame. All I got was a "sorry." I understand that it was busy , with only 2 servers on Wednesday. Mind you one of the servers are pregnant, and other servers seems overwhelmed. This place is really small inside , I only imagine the kitchen. I believe that this place has potential and knowing that this place is linked to Ay Mi Pa in Riverside , which I love it there. I really hoped for the same experience since it is a Family Own Restaurant Chain including with Mr Taco. Although Fuego Hibachi needs better management, way MORE better organization, they have a host stand outside but with no host you have to bother the bartender to ask the manager to put our names down, more chefs, well trained servers / more servers. The waitress wasn't attentive at all and she made my family and I feel uncomfortable. The service was terrible and the food wasn't that good either. We got 2 hibachi dishes. The chicken teriyaki was so dry I think they just reheated it because we got it within minutes of ordering. The steak one was better and more fresh. The noodles and fried rice for both were dry too so I think it was already made and just reheated. We were the only people eating there too. The ambiance (visuals) of the place is really pretty. The service ruined it all for us. I didn't get the waitress's name but she was petite. Whenever she brought food she would just reach over us and not say anything before or after placing it on the table and she would just walk away sometimes. We also ordered the sampler roll appetizer and the NY steak roll. For mains we ordered my steak and filet/chicken combo. Oddly enough our main dish came out first before apps, which made no sense. The meat was super tender and tasty but the veggies were cold and flavorless. This was similar trend to the noodles they offered too. The fried rice could have been delicious but was missing garlic. The sampler rolls tasted a little old and slightly fishy too. As for the NY steak roll it sounded so good but fell flat as the taste of stale crab lingered after eating it.
