Chashu pork egg, spicy broth
Melissa J.

There is definitely better Ramen in Riverside. The noodles aren't fresh, the broth tastes like oil and the chicken meatballs are dry and overcooked. The eggs are overdone. The gyozas aren't fried enough and are flavorless. The pork was good. The employee at the counter was nice. The place is clean, at least. Not much else to say about it.

Went here because I was craving some ramen. I was very disappointed. The noodles were tasteless the broth was bland and the pork was so fatty. I got hardly any meat. Will not be going back and I do not recommend this location.

Ramen Review Stopped in for lunch and ordered the spicy ramen -- and it definitely hit the spot. The broth had good depth and spice without being overpowering, and the sesame seeds added a nice balance. The noodles were cooked just right, and the pork had that perfect texture. Service was quick and friendly, and they even brought out a chilled water carafe, which was a nice touch. The place has a modern, relaxed vibe -- great for a solo meal or quick bite between errands. Overall: 4/5 -- solid ramen, flavorful broth, and good presentation. I'd come back to try another bowl next time.

The ramen is delicious. Wow!!! The meat was juicy. The broth was flavorful. The beer hit the spot on a hot day

It was my first time trying true ramen, not instant ramen. I fell in love!!!!! Was more expensive than I thought it would be, but was worth it, to an extent. Was our servers first day working there as well and was very helpful on the topics she knew about. Restaurant was clean, though not perfect, but suitable for an establishment A grade.

Mixed review because the food was outstanding! My first time here when I walked in I thought it was maybe not open. There was nobody in the restaurant. I sat for five minutes before the person walked back from Starbucks getting their order. The person in the back preparing food didn't even look out to say anything. I was getting ready to leave when the girl walked in to take our order did not speak very good English first time here I wanted her to explain how it works. She couldn't half of the tables in the restaurant had dirty food on them and they were not cleaned while we were there having lunch. I'm assuming they do a lot of takeout orders because their customer service is seriously lacking

Everytime we visit, we always leave with satisfied bellies and everyone had a great time. But not at the last time we visited. Not sure if it was a one off or what. The guy that was behind the counter was so rude, no customer service at all. Every time we ask him a question, he keeps saying 'no'. No explanation or any kind of gesture to attempt to be friendly. The whole experience was off-putting. I think Kotsu should rethink who they station at the front or retrain staff on the basics of customer service.

Tofu Rice Bowl, Curry It Up!

This place is terrible. My food pictured is actually incorrect. this is not what you get in the tofu rice bowl. my food was made incorrect the next time i came. THERES NO SUPERVISORS MANAGERS NOTHING. JUST CHILDREN WHO WORK HERE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

2 star on the strength of the food... but don't think I'm going to come to your restaurant when there's Kaz and Sakura on either side of you that has BETTER food and have the audacity to tell me I better "eat quickly" since you're closing 30 minutes before your posted hours, then serve people AFTER me. Bet you won't have to kick me out twice.

My girlfriend and I come here fairly often because it's a convenient place to eat after work, and we've generally enjoyed it. Unfortunately, our last three visits have been disappointing due to missing items we paid for and poor customer service. Today, my girlfriend, her little sister, and I ordered three ramen bowls. My girlfriend is vegetarian and cannot eat meat because it makes her sick. She ordered the vegan ramen with extra noodles and requested that the toppings be served on the side, as I usually eat them. The second bowl was a Shio ramen with grilled chicken, and my bowl came out correctly. While waiting for our food, I watched the cook remove the chicken from the Shio ramen and place it into a separate bowl while wearing gloves. When our order was called, my girlfriend's vegan ramen still had the toppings on it despite our request to have them on the side. We politely pointed this out to the employee at the pickup counter and asked if it could be corrected. The employee responded with noticeable attitude, which was frustrating considering we were simply asking for the order to be prepared as requested. The bowl was handed back to the cook, who then removed the toppings by hand while still wearing the same gloves that had been used to handle the chicken. This raised concerns for us about cross-contact, especially given that my girlfriend avoids meat and can become sick from it. Because of that, my girlfriend only took a couple of bites before deciding not to finish her meal. Shortly afterward, she began feeling unwell. While I cannot say for certain what caused it, the situation was concerning and left us disappointed. We have enjoyed eating here in the past, which makes this review difficult to write. However, after multiple visits involving missing items, incorrect orders, poor customer service, and now concerns about food handling, I felt it was important to share our experience.

We shared the philly roll so we think the salmon was bad. We also got separate ramen bowls. The miso ramen broth had a good flavor but the drunken ramen was pretty bland besides a straight basil and ginger flavor. The pork was very firm and difficult to chew in both of our meals. The egg was closer to hard boiled than soft boiled. The noodles were cooked well. The thai tea was decent. It was extremely sweet and diluted and didn't have that strong flavor most thai tea has. Service-wise, the waitress was friendly but she disappeared from the floor after giving us our food for about 30 minutes and never checked in with us or was available when we were ready to leave.

Anyway... After perusing through the menu, which had quite a few blacked out items (black tape applied over the menu item) we both decided on the Tonkatsu Spicy Black Ramen Noodles as well a the Crispy Fried Rice appetizer... the appetizer was delivered but I had to request some small individual plates so that we could eat off of our own plate, rather than reaching over trying to share the same plate and making a mess on the table... no worries, small oversight (or so I thought at the time)... Next came the Ramen... Looked very appetizing, but again I had to get up and request a couple of soup spoons... went to dig in, and while the bottom of the bowl was warm, the broth itself was quite cold... after calling over the waitress and asking them to please reheat (even if they had to use the microwave)... the waitress took it back to the "open" kitchen and they used the microwave to reheat... The bowls were returned and as we started to eat, satisfied that the broth was indeed hot, we noticed a couple of items missing: the corn - no corn in the broth like it was described... in addition to that, no Wood Eared Mushrooms were in the broth either... the wood eared mushrooms set the "black" apart from the standard ramen and cost $.50 more per serving... when questioned about it, the hostess informed us that they didn't have any mushrooms... as a consolation, she offered us one of the "extra price" toppings in place if it... we opted for the tofu... a bowl of tofu pieces came out and although they appeared to have steam coming off of it, the tofu was cold as well... smh... The hostess returned them to to kitchen to be reheated... We received a 10% discount ($4.90 of of a $49 bill)... Not sure if they're going to make it with this level of service and food quality... Good Luck!

Now they have table service, which is a nice change in theory, but unfortunately the service we received tonight was really disappointing. After a 9-hour shift serving tables myself, all I wanted was a good bowl of ramen. My girlfriend and I ordered two miso ramens, an order of veggie gyoza, and a Coke. My Coke never came, and throughout our entire meal not a single server checked on us. We even noticed one server standing with her back turned to the dining room on her phone while wearing gloves...YUCK!!Early in the meal we realized we had been served the wrong gyoza, they had meat instead of the veggie gyoza we ordered. We kept waiting for someone to stop by so we could mention both the missing drink and the incorrect appetizer, but no one ever did. Since I hadn't eaten all day and was starving, we ended up eating the dumplings. When we were finishing up, I asked the server if they had meat in them, she confirmed they did. I explained that we had ordered the veggie gyoza, and her response was, "Well, you should've let me know earlier." I would have if anyone had checked on our table even once during the meal!!! The most disappointing part is that the food itself was great. The ramen was exactly what I was craving. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We also overheard the table next to us complaining that the service was really bad, no one came to take their order and their drinks were forgotten too. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially because I've enjoyed coming here over the years, but the service tonight was so bad that I probably won't be back.

Yoshioishi Sushi & Ramen had solid reviews, so we decided to pivot and give it a try. First impression: the menu is extensive. It's one of those places where you almost don't know where to start. The fan favorites are marked with a red flower, which helped narrow things down. We also asked our server for suggestions, which made it easier to navigate. We arrived just before 5pm and there was only one other table. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like. By the time we left, the restaurant was filling up and it seemed like there were quite a few regulars coming in. Here's what we tried: Salted edamame: Just average. A bit limp and not as crisp as I'm used to, so they didn't feel especially fresh. Gyoza: Really nice flavor and the dipping sauce was well balanced. These were solid. Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi: This was different in a good way. It had cilantro and a slightly sweeter sauce instead of the traditional garlic ponzu. Unexpected, but a pleasant surprise. Crispy chicken karaage: Slightly over fried but still flavorful. The dipping sauce helped. Crispy rice with spicy tuna: Just okay. One piece barely had tuna on top. Not bad, but not something I'd reorder. Cucumber salad: Served on a bed of iceberg lettuce, which surprised us, but the dressing had great flavor. This disappeared quickly. Nigiri: The salmon was incredibly fresh and one of the highlights. The albacore and toro came topped with fresh wasabi, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the salmon and albacore. The toro didn't quite melt in your mouth like we hoped. It was a bit chewy. Crazy Salmon Roll: Good flavor, but note that the salmon on the outside is fully cooked. We expected raw, so just something to keep in mind. Snow Mountain Roll: A fan favorite at the table. Great texture and flavor. Plain udon and plain ramen: Both were excellent. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We definitely over ordered, but we left very full. One small detail for fellow tea lovers: I always look forward to hot tea at a Japanese restaurant, especially when it's served in a small pot you can refill at the table. Here it was hot water with a tea bag in a metal cup, which was too hot to comfortably hold, and there was no teapot provided. Not a deal breaker, but next time I'd probably skip the tea. Service was strong. In addition to our main server, two other team members checked in and refilled water regularly, which we appreciated. Overall, I'd call it a 3.5 if that were an option, so I'm landing at 3 stars. The food was decent, the atmosphere comfortable, and the service attentive. It didn't completely wow us, but we're glad we tried it.

Honestly most people know ramen expectations should be low when you order it as take out but i think they do a great job with how they package their takeout! I've tried their normal lemonade and their mango passionfruit sweet tea and personally i like their sweet tea more! The drink portion is nice and large! Definitely not overly sweet and it always hit with my ramen. I've tried most of their ramens, i like the fact that they have different style noodles. Personally i think their wavy noodles go better with the rich broths like the miso and the Tokyo style one (a mix of shoyu and tonkotsu ) and the straight noodles go god with their clear broth like the shoyu or the yuzu shio. I normally get their shoyu mostly because it gives me the least acid reflux, but that's nothing with their food it's just a health issue for me :( i would say my favorite is their Tokyo style broth. I think it has a nice balance of flavor and the wavy noodles just soak up that broth nicely. I've only had their appetizers on takeout so they're not super fresh, and not really a main stopper for me. The large is good but i wish it was a little bigger with the pieces. Sometimes they're just small and idk it feels like it's missing something. I got the opportunity to stop here yesterday after my tattoo, and the service was decent. Got seated quickly and my order taken quick as well. My food took a few minutes to be made but nothing crazy of a wait. Overall i had a good time, i do go on a Saturday around 7:30 pm so not sure if that matters. For take out i do recommend ordering min 30 minutes before pickup because i do feel like it can take a minute, but thats the nice part of take out that you can order in advance.
