The two flavors complemented each other perfectly, and the creamy texture really enhanced the flavor. The staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the different gelato flavors. There are still so many flavors I want to come back and try, especially the pistachio and tiramisu. I sampled a few before landing on a medium ($7.50) with tropical sorbet and stracciatella (sweet cream with chocolate chips). I'm usually not a big fan of passion fruit, but the tropical sorbet had a nice tartness that made it surprisingly delicious. As with most gelato spots, the portions are a bit smaller than typical ice cream scoops, but still satisfying. The service was great - everyone behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. Street parking only, which can be a bit tricky, but we lucked out and found a spot right in front on a Sunday afternoon. Went in on a Saturday night and was blown away by the flavors, freshness, and creaminess of the gelato. I've tried higher-ranked spots on that list that don't even come close. Even after visiting top gelato shops in Italy, this one serves the best pistachio and hazelnut gelatos. Eric, one of the owners was extremely passionate about the ingredients, and explained to me how the ingredients are sourced including the pistachios that are sourced from his family farm in mount Etna in Sicily. Currently S/M/L sizes are priced at ($6.25 / $7.50 / $8.50). They allow you to sample flavors here and will give recommendations on which gelato combinations work well together. I went with a large with pistachio, hazelnut, and caramel coffee almond. When I visited they had the following flavors: pistachio, cheesecake, gianduja, caramel coffee almond, milk chocolate, hazelnut, cookie butter, salted caramel, Stracciatella, sweet cream with lemon zest, coconut, sorbet and tropical sorbet. The sorbets here are impressive as well. Overall the gelatos here and the service were EXCEPTIONAL! I don't know a place that has better pistachio nor hazelnut anywhere on the planet!!! We were pleasantly suprprosed that they had 3 vegan friendly flavors-- tropical sorbet, strawberry guava, and a sweet cream with lemon zest. All three were really tasty. Terrible service from the barista. We've been here previously and never had this issue until today. Already, upon ordering, there was an annoyance and an attitude about paying with cash. Later, we noticed that our cortados seemed to have more milk than before and were more like lattes. We brought them back and asked kindly if we could have them with a little less milk and some water. It was then met with attitude and about how that's the right cup, etc., when that's not what we were talking about. She made it very clear she was annoyed when she spoke back, and even when she brought the coffee over. There was no need for the smart remarks about sizing, and we should know for next time. It was extremely disrespectful and uncomfortable, especially since all we asked for was less milk. I understand maybe having a bad day but taking it out on customers is not okay. read more

I'm so excited we finally got to try 1022 Cafe and Gelateria. My husband and I were very excited for their gelato which to be expected was absolutely phenomenal. He had the coconut sorbet and I had the pistachio. The pistachio was so creamy and nutty. Eating the gelato got us talking about our honeymoon in Italy and all the amazing gelato we had while there. You definitely need to get the pistachio. The other flavors that I liked were the caramel coffee almond and the strawberry ricotta. They do split scoops so the best way to enjoy when you can't decide. They rotate their flavors but I'm sure you'll find something that makes yours taste buds happy. It is a gelato shop but also sells coffee. Walked in needed some caffeine and wanting to try it out. States 6.00 on their menu for cold brew. Assumed it was 16oz for that price but it was actually a 12oz size and I was charged 6.50 for it on top of that.
