This was my first & LAST time ever going to this place. When I got there to pick up my food the man at the counter (the manager) is who he said he was was very rude. As I was standing there waiting to pick up my order he completely ignored me as if I wasn't standing there. I was not greeted at all. First thing he said to me is "yeah?" As if he couldn't ask me what I was there for. So then I get my food and get home & the first thing I see is some sort of a wrapper at the bottom of my soup. So I called to let them know & he was extremely rude on the phone as well. Portions are beyond lower than average (see photo for comparison) 2. Sushi taste really bland. The spicy tuna roll is the color of salmon and doesn't taste like a spicy tuna roll. 3. Highly over-priced for small portions. The biggest roll we ordered is $14.00 and tiny (see photos) 4. Teriyaki chicken is over-cooked and the dry. The teriyaki sauce also taste watered down. Came here on a Saturday night. Wasn't that busy. Only thing with hibachi grills is you have to wait till the table is full before being served. You can opt to eat at a table or a the grill. There is a charge if you sit at grill and do not order from the hibachi grill. It's $3.50 a person if you just sit at grill. You can order sushi too! We have only ordered from the hibachi grill, but the other menu items look great! My little guy ordered the kids steak hibachi, my husband ordered chicken and shrimp hibachi, and I ordered the steak and scallops. All are made fresh at our grill. All hibachi grill meals are served with salad, soup, rice, meat, and veggies. Lunch only has the option for soup or salad. Great value at lunch too! Like all hibachi grills, it's very interactive. Came here for Sunday dinner with friends, there were 10 of us so we filled the whole hibachi table. I would have liked to have given this place a 5 but our waiter was obviously new and unfortunately that caused some issues. The location is in a strip mall and can be easily missed, but take a chance and come on in were you'll find a large restaurant with many hibachi grills ready to go. On Sunday they offer a hibachi steak special 2 for $25. I started off by ordering sushi, but it never came...and I wasn't charged for it. I will put that on the new waiter...I was to the point that ge was already struggling so badly that I didn't even mention it to him. The steak special was excellent and comes with soup and salad. As I don't care for the soup I got 2 salads. The meat was cooked to order and this hibachi location does a really nice mix of vegetables. Outside of the issues we had with our waiter, I got the impression that this place runs pretty efficiently. My friends come here on the regular and really like it. It had been a really long time since we had been to Fuji but we had someone in the family wanting hibachi so we thought we would give it a try. We went for lunch as we wanted to actually save a few dollars. Our party of 5 was seated, orders taken and cook came out soon after. We all ordered the Fuji chicken and one crunch roll. I cannot recommend the crunch roll as it was very dry and bland. The lettuce for our salads was not fresh, turning brown actually and the dressing was more of a mayo based flavor. Not the usual we get in these type of restaurants. The food was average and the "show" our chef put on was not that entertaining. I was disappointed in the decor of the restaurant as it was outdated and could use some tlc. The floor was slippery as well. I would also suggest that they play some background music with an Asian flair. Will I go back? Most likely not as there are many other restaurants I like better. But if you're looking for the hibachi experience, it's ok. read more

October 2024. Very satisfied. In a time where things just don't seem as good as they used to, Fuji Asian Bistro is an exception. My wife and I were in Louisville and this place was close by. Everything was delicious and service was outstanding. We had two types of sushi and it was some of the best we ever had. Their house salad dressing was somewhat familiar to the Japanese hibachi places we have gone to but better. Thicker and a slight variation of flavors. Loved it. For entrees, my wife had chicken tempura and I had beef lo mein. Both were great. Tempura is an assortment of fried meat and veggies and it did not have a greasy taste but instead light and the flavor of the food really came out. My lo mein was some of the best I have had. I wish we lived close by because places like this are rare. We were there on a weekday early evening and there were about 6 parties at tables. The girl serving the tables was quick and timely. Nice little sushi hibachi grill on Dixie Hwy. Fuji bistro is located in a little corner of a large shopping plaza. From the exterior it appears small, but when you go inside it is surprisingly large and spacious. In the entry foyer is a wood table and bench made from what appears to be tree stumps and a tree. The wood work is all carved and reminds me of the talking tree at the old shoe store on Lexingtons Southland Dr. (Not sure why). Inside there is tons of seating in booths or tables not counting of course the hibachi grill seats. We ordered soup and a salad with California roll, Rainbow Roll and a Kentucky Roll. The Rainbow Roll was delicious with fresh tuna on it. The Kentucky Roll was covered in tempura. The California roll was good as well. We had dinner early so there was no wait. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We are on Dixie Hwy frequently so we really need to have a go to sushi place while in the area. I recommend the food, ambiance, and wait staff at Fuji Bistro. Give these folks a try! read more

I thought all hibachi places were about the same: fancy hibachi tricks + passable food = decent entertainment/food. This assumption proved to be wrong at Fuji Asian Bistro. While I cannot comment on the sushi since I did not order it while I was here; I can say the hibachi was just not a good experience. The chef did not perform any of the tricks I've come to expect from a hibachi table: no onion train, no egg cracking, no shrimp toss. He did set the table on fire a couple of time...that's it. And the food? Meh...to yuck. The salad dressing tasted mainly of mayonnaise. My entrée of steak was undercooked yet chewy. Hubby's chicken was way overcooked and drowned in soy sauce. The chef kept spraying the food with more and more soy sauce...I wanted to reach out to end the chicken's misery: "you died for nothing!" And the service? Meh, also. They charged us 20% gratuity for our group of 8, which is fine for me if we did receive the level of service. But we barely got our drinks refilled and dishes cleared. The food was so salty everyone needed refills way more often than was offered. It is safe to say I will not be back. There are many better choices in Louisville. read more

I feel like I could have made the dish at home. The chicken was a bit over cooked. I also got the Spicy tuna roll because I wasn't sure about the sushi so I went for a simple roll. The tuna was indeed spicy but had no taste at all. There was something inside that made it chewy, it reminded me of the texture of when you accidentally bite a napkin. Today was my first trip to Fuji at the request of my coworker. We were trying to decide what to eat for lunch and none of us had brought the usual sandwich and chips. I volunteered to pick up take out. I called the restaurant to order since the online order did not appear to work. I ordered a bento box lunch, an order of edamame, and an order of gyoza. My total came out to $20.70, which I found to be unusually high. My coworker's total was around $10 (she ordered a beef bento box with fried rice). I was told it would take about 10-15 minutes for the order to be ready. I placed the order at 12:25PM and it took me around 10 minutes to get there. Fuji is located in a large shopping center on Dixie Highway adjacent to a furniture store. I walked in and there was literally NO ONE in the restaurant that I could see save for two employees: one gentleman at the sushi bar and the other at the computer near the back. I stood there for a good minute or so before I was acknowledged. I told them that I had placed an order for pick up and they told me that they were still working on it. Okay, no problem. I was cashed out and took a seat at the bar. I waited. And waited. And waited. I got to the restaurant around 12:40 and did not leave until 1:05. I did receive an apology for my wait (as well as a ton of free yum yum sauce) and all of the employees that I spoke with were very kind, but I still don't know if I will be back because of the wait and the food. My bento box was lackluster to say the least. I got a bone in my chopped up teriyaki chicken. The veggies were sparse and chopped very weird. The gyoza was tasty but very greasy. My California roll was a mess and was falling apart as I tried to eat it. The edamame was the same size portion that I could have gotten at any other sushi restaurant for half the price. To top it off, the food was lukewarm when I received it. I do not see any excuse for this kind of product when you have an empty restaurant. I'm in KY for a business trip. I came here looking for lunch and wanted something other than Waffle House or some deep fried fast food chain. From the parking lot, I thought this place was closed ... when you first walk in, it feels more bar than restaurant. I ordered take out and they had a full menu (with a page of lunch options) and a separate selection of sushi and rolls. It took almost 15-20 minutes to get my teriyaki steak lunch box - which for $8.00 was an awesome deal. It came with steak, tempura, veggies, rice and California rolls. For whatever reason, I got both fried rice and a side of white rice with my order. Pity I had to throw it out. I didn't end up eating till almost 3 hours after I picked up the food so most of it was cold and soggy. The California rolls were decent. The steak on the other hand had no teriyaki sauce ... just cubes of beef with no flavor. That was disappointing. The steak itself was fine - but without the teriyaki sauce it sort of misses the mark. Not everything moves at the pace at which this type A Cali girl moves so I won't judge it by those expectations. Looks like they had a teppenyakki grill so it might be worth checking out again. read more

Don't let the outside fool you. Once through the doors, there is a beautiful Asian restaurant inside. On my first visit, I felt like I entered into Bizarro World, but in a good way. I could not believe the hidden gem that I had found. They have several hibachi tables with performing chefs. There is a full sushi menu with basic roll starting around $4 and specialty rolls topping out around $16. There is plenty of room for large parties and the service is always efficient. I try to visit Fuji at least once a month to cure my sushi fix and I have yet to have a disappointment. If you are near, never fear. They have a lot of good sushi rolls but the Las Vegas roll with Eel Sauce & Spicy Mayo is amazing! Not only did they have $1 Miller Lites from 3-7pm but they were a hibachi place too. But all we saw in our sites was sushi. We had 26 minutes, give or take. The atmosphere was relaxed and but was really empty. The waitress and the seating system of this place is weird. It's like they didn't even want us there. Moving on, all us 5 ladies sat down and instantly jumped for the sushi menu. None of us got any of the special rolls. They were around $10.95. So all of us got at least 2 sushi rolls per person. The Philly, Boston, New York and California rolls were bought. Yep, we love America. Others got the Sweet Potato, Spicy Tuna and Alaskan roll. I got the Spicy Tuna and Alaskan. It was ok. And that's why it's a 2/5 star. Total? $11. I also got the green tea. NOW THAT WAS AWESOME. The sushi took about 23 minutes to come out. That. Was. Bullshit. We were the ONLY people in there and it took so long. Unacceptable. The Alaskan was not very flavorful and it was just ok. The Spicy Tuna was just ok. It had some kind of crunch in it but the sauce was not SPICY at all. I was so disappointed. I feel like everything about this restaurant either pissed me off or was just mediocre. Not for me. (PS. This place is horrid. I love sushi and even more I love a great dinning experience. Fuji on Dixie was a huge disappointment. Our server was extremely inattentive and the restaurant was run down. After we finally flagged down our Server he wrote my table's order on his pad. We had to wait 45 minutes as our rolls were prepared and unfortunately the order was completely incorrect. After explaining the situation to our Server he simply shrugged his shoulders and apologized but did not offer to fix things. The sushi was gross the restaurant was dirty and the Server was clueless.
