We were greeted promptly as we walked into the restaurant. The staff were all very nice and checked in at the table. The ambiance of the restaurant was quiet yet welcoming, with soft East Asian instrumental music playing softly in the background. The food was slightly on the cooler side but still within an acceptable temperature range. Normally, I find something on the line of a buffet that I don't enjoy, but that was not the case here; I enjoyed everything I ate. I visited here on 4/24/23. I'm not sure what happened to this place but even during Covid they were a lot better. Me and my cousin stopped in here for my early birthday lunch. I've requested to go here for many years. But this time was just horrible. The friend rice was barley half way done. The lo main noodles where three different colors. Cooked, burnt and raw. The egg drop soup looked like it had been sitting out for a few days. Nothing really has any flavor either. I give this place two stars only because the Waite staff where awsome. Fantastic place to grab lunch without having to wait. My favorite feature of this buffet is the hibachi section. I find it's best to get your hibachi started first - then eat some of the buffet food. My favorites on the buffet include: green beans, crab rangoon, salmon, and mac & cheese. For the hibachi I get rice, chicken, steak, broccoli, and have them add teriyaki & garlic sauce. My family has eaten lunch here the past two Christmases. My mom easily made a reservation for our party of 9 and both times we were seated immediately. Our server visited our table right away to collect drink orders and we hit the buffet. It's amazing how much food they offer! I'm able to try all the dishes I never order throughout the year because I'm playing it safe and stick with what I know. You could easily fill 2-3 plates taking only a small bit of each item. It's nice to have options so that every member of the family is happy. Along with hot dishes, they also offer a salad bar, soups, sushi and dessert - including barrels of ice cream. My youngest is a steak fan. He ordered a steak at the hibachi grill. Lots of meats and veggies are available if you'd prefer stir fry. I had no idea this was available and was super impressed. Our server kept our drinks filled and dirty plates cleared off the table. Along with our fortune cookies she also brought us a 2019 calendar. My youngest loved hanging last year's in his bedroom. The first plate was iffy, I had literally a combination of all different things I like. I also tried the sushi rolls they had, the yum yum rolls and the spicy . Holy Cow! Someone kidnapped the old Chinese Buffet, dumped it's body in the Ohio River, and put this one where the old one was. Someone should pin a medal on their chest. First, the place was a lot cleaner and nicer than the predecessor. Not only did they clean the place up and give it a fresh new look they did an excellent job of picking a decor that would be easier to clean up and keep clean (tile floors, wooden furniture, new bathroom fixtures). The second thing is the food is greatly improved! The Asian fusion buffet was still there, but much better and with a more varied selection. They've added a sushi chef, a hibachi chef, and have legit ice cream EIGHT BIG TUBS OF ICE CREAM THAT YOU SCOOP YOURSELF. It was exciting. The thing they kept? The wonderful service. Ok I don't expect much from a Chinese buffet but you should be able to eat it. Everything that was Supposed to be hot was cold and food that was supposed cold was room temperature. I eat out on the road all the time and this is top 5 worst food in all my travels. It's been years since I've stepped foot in a buffet, but if they're anything like Hibachi Buffet, I can't be sure why! As a seafood fanatic, I'm always on the hunt for the next place I can get my fix, and I've found it here in an all-you-can-eat format. The buffet offers a surprising amount of sushi options, including spicy tuna, California roll, and more, as well as a few types of nigiri. My eyes were on the seafood, and I can recommend the cocktail and fried shrimp, crab cakes, boiled crawfish, clams, and mussels. As you can imagine for a buffet, the raw oysters look a bit suspect; they're basically shucked and dumped into a bin, so hopefully down the road they'll find a better system for this. The crab legs were also disappointing as they're covered in a sticky, sweet sauce that makes the legs hard to hold onto and crack open. The crab rangoon were also basically just cream cheese. Other than seafood (yes, I entertained the idea), the stuffed mushrooms, sweet and sour chicken and Western foods were decent. The interior is kept very clean, which is always reassuring when trying out a buffet for the first time, and our server was very attentive to keeping our table free of used plates. Hibachi Buffet also has a small selection of domestic bottles, as well as Heineken and Corona. Between two people, two beers and three trips to the buffet later, our tab was only $32 for the buffet's most expensive dining option ($11.99/each on Sunday evening). Lunch at Hibachi Buffet is only $7.99/person, but they have limited options compared to their dinner buffet. We go out of our way to eat here. It's about a 45 minute drive, but we truly enjoy it. The food is always hot & fresh. The hibachi bar has every possible thing I could think of for ingredients. I don't eat sushi because of an allergy issue, but friends & family always say it's good. The staff (with one exception) are always friendly & you certainly don't have to worry about your drink running dry! It's rare that I give a 4 star review for a Chinese Buffet, but this place deserves it. They underwent renovations 2 years ago and I believe they changed owners, well it all happened for the better. They've brought in new buffet tables with huge spotlights that showcase the food, this place is clean and organized. The Chinese food isn't your typical cheap buffet food, from Coconut chicken, General Tso's, black pepper chicken, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, stir fry noodles, all of it is pretty good. And of course the cheap pizza, fried wings, and fries I typically stick to the Chinese food but the sushi is actually surprisingly good here too. Now the sushi is fresh but typically it's made with generic ingredients although the raw salmon is pretty good. I love the seaweed salad here! They also have a hibachi section where you can grab fresh veggies and meats for someone to fry up for you. Lunch costs $8 I believe, it's well worth it! While on a 12 hour drive down to Atlanta from Chicago, we stopped by this buffet. Yes, I know. Who in their right mind goes to a Hibachi buffet inbetween a long car ride? Us. That's who. We're crazy but I had a good feeling about this place. They had miyukgook miso soup and rice, which means my 2 year old ate. They had sushi and cooked seafood which meant we were in heaven. All the food was fresh. I didn't touch the fried stuff but I liked that they had a lot of sashimi, raw oysters and fruits and salads. They even had kimchi. I don't think the owners are korean but it was definitely korean stomach friendly. For a hibachi buffet the prices were a lot lower than what we're used too. What a good find in Louisville.
