First, I want to say that the staff here are genuinely kind and welcoming, and in many ways this buffet offers a lot to seafood lovers. There truly are some standout items, and when things are done well, they are really done well. I especially loved the seafood broth in the dish with corn, the broths used with the fish, and how they pair with the incredibly fresh seafood. When those elements are fresh, they are absolutely delicious and a highlight of the meal. The fresh sashimi, crab legs, and shrimp continued to live up to their reputation, as did the mushrooms, seafood dishes, fresh cucumber salad, and cabbage. These items were very fresh and made it easy to create an excellent meal. There is a lot of potential here, and many of the offerings truly are amazing. That said, I feel strongly that the buffet would benefit from fewer options done well, rather than a larger variety that isn't consistently fresh. Unfortunately, some items were clearly spoiled and should not have been served. I honestly believe that if everything were taste-tested before being put out, some of these issues could be avoided. The pickled ginger, in particular, had gone bad and so it had a strong unpleasant odor and a slimy texture. This seems like something that could easily be prevented by serving smaller portions, keeping the rest refrigerated, and checking it daily before serving. While I thought the sushi was good, it felt amiss without the pickled ginger. More disappointing for me was the fresh fruit. The oranges, honeydew, and cantaloupe all tasted off and had a bad odor and slimy texture, which is the primary reason for the 3 stars. The bubble tea however was still delicious, but I was really hoping to finish my meal with fresh fruit, and that just wasn't possible this time. I also continue to wish there were more ice cream flavor options. There is so much that is great about this place, and I truly hope management focuses on freshness and quality control so the best items can shine without being overshadowed by a few spoiled items. read more

Normally I ditch crab legs at Asian buffets because the crab meat does not give, but at Fuji?! Idk who their supplier is but these crab legs were phat and full of sweet crab meat. They got a variety of dishes and everything was solid. Sushi was so-so just because the rice wasn't seasoned like sushi rice normally is but the fish to filling ratio was A1, the sashimi was good too. And they have a drinks station with prepared jelly teas, bottled jasmine tea. Loved that they had dragonfruit at the desserts station. The service was also fantastic. The service attentive' & overall my experience is 4 stars worthy because I would definitely come back & would recommend. I like that they are clean & spacious in seating as well as parking too. Decided to try this place our after their rebrand and new ownership. It was $22 for dinner and we found it was well worth the value. Place was clean and decor was modern. They had a wide selection of food to pick from, everything from fried American foods, to Chinese staples, to seafood and sushi. All the sushi we ate was good and fresh. We also enjoyed the included bottled beverages and boba teas. While this wasn't the best Asian food I've ever had, for your money this is definitely an excellent value and we will be back! read more

Update (April 2026): Disregard any glowing reviews you see of Fuji Buffett -- they bribe customers with a free drink (bottle of iced tea) if customers write a glowing 5 star positive review (upon arrival, before food). They will even harass, watching you type, until you show them proof of a glowing 5 star review, posted to their satisfaction, often before they let you see/try the food. I witnessed many times, the owner is so obsessed with bribing customers for glowing 5 star online reviews, it's laughable. Update (April 2026): Fuji Buffet in South Tampa has gone downhill recently (again, similar to previous owners) -- huge difference from several months ago. Last few visits (evening), they had no food left, yet still charged for buffet. Another time, they claimed a to-go order allows only 5 minutes (oddly specific, limited time). Owner has become a bit obnoxious with how he tries to apply random new policies. He was quite friendly before, but behind that smile, tricky obnoxious behavior lately. Food (evening): if they have any food left, is limited to: leftover buffet scraps and slop (bits and pieces, suitable for trash bin), left out all day (possibly even multiple days old), appears literally bottom of the bucket. I would not risk getting sick -- some buffet selections were obviously left out all day, and definitely not fresh. Some items appear reheated many times to the point of being hard and inedible, yet still being served again. "Sushi" selection was all imitation crab and other ingredients, not actual sushi-grade fish (a few appeared to be cheap mock variations of popular sushi rolls). Fuji Buffet went downhill, turned ghetto in many ways, and not worth trying. I have visited many times (because of convenient location), but I will NOT be returning again. They are not entitled to yet another chance after the last FOUR (4) visits in a row were beyond unacceptable. It is about 3.5 stars. Not yet four stars. The restaurant has sushi section with regular roll or signature roll. It also has nigiri. However, I think the nigiri has too much rice on it. That may be the reason they are 3.5 stars instead of 4 stars. The hot food section is nicer. They have beef, chicken, shrimp, veggies selection. I like their grilled chicken. I have not see a pork dish. I like their fried fish. They do have small dim sum sections. The salad section has some choices of mixed salad and fruit. The raw bar section has some seafood. The hibachi also available to customers. The dessert section has ice cream and cake. I like the drink section has some popping boba drink and honey jasmine tea. Overall service is good. As far as Chinese buffets go, this was clean, the food was hot and there was a lot to choose from. We didn't get hibachi, but the specialty sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. I visited Fuji Buffet in Tampa today and had a very mixed experience. On the positive side, the staff members were incredibly welcoming and kind; the service itself was great. However, the food temperature was a major concern. I tried the chicken skewers, egg rolls, spring rolls, chicken wings, and fried rice, and every single item was cold. Having suffered from severe food poisoning in the past, I am very cautious about food being held at unsafe temperatures. Because of this, I only took one bite of each item before realizing it wasn't safe to continue. I ended up getting up and leaving the establishment immediately. My niece and I have been loyal weekly customers for a long time, primarily for the crab legs, as the rest of the buffet is bland and below average. Unfortunately, the service has declined significantly recently. I've noticed a pattern of unprofessionalism among the back-of-house staff; when I raised this with the manager last week, my concerns were dismissed as a "language barrier." During my most recent visit, the experience went from poor to unacceptable. Along with two other guests, we inquired about crab legs to several different staff members and stood around waiting; however, after 30 minutes they still had not been replenished. One of the other guests Husband was waiting at the hibachi station but became upset when the sushi chef failed to wash his hands after using cleaning chemicals at one station and then attempted to cook his noodles. They complained to the Manager and following their departure, the manager aggressively approached me at my table, loudly demanding to know what I had said to them. When I tried to explain I had nothing to do with them being upset he didn't want to listen and walked away mumbling. Being interrogated and blamed for another guest's complaint while I was eating was incredibly embarrassing. While the waitstaff generally is attentive and friendly, the management is unprofessional, and we will not be returning. read more

A few weeks ago, I had lunch at Fuji Buffet for the first time. It reminded me of Tampa Buffet, which used to be in the same strip mall (possibly the same location). I requested a booth with an electric outlet to charge up my phone. Unfortunately, they led me to one too deep into the wall. I couldn't plug in my phone. The food selection was good, including a Hibachi grill. The wait for my plate of food seemed to take too long. Most of the ice cream was hard as a brick. I waited for it to soften. The background music sounded like Chinese disco music. Out of curiosity, I used the Shazam app, but it couldn't identify most of the songs played.
