Came here for dinner and was impressed right from the start. The restaurant has a polished, contemporary feel and is clean and well maintained. Dinner was $23 per adult for AYCE, not bad considering both the variety and the quality of the food. The place was very busy when we arrived, but we were seated quickly. The Tampa China Buffet is a large, all-you-can-eat Asian buffet in Tampa off Fowler Avenue by USF area. It has a wide variety of tasty Chinese food, lots of different types of sushi, and lots of different seafood options, including unlimited crab legs at dinner. Cuisine: Chinese, Fresh Sushi, Seafood (including crab legs, oysters, mussels), American, and a large dessert selection. There were 5 different kinds of shrimp and 6 different kinds of chicken that were all pretty good. Specials: Unlimited crab legs are a dinner only special. Atmosphere: Tampa China Buffet was recently renovated with a modern futuristic interior with lots of LEDs, modern gray tile floors, and modern white marble style tile on the walls that looks very nice. Service: Service staff was friendly taking drink orders and refreshing buffet foods in a timely manner. The buffet is self serve so not much service is required. Pricing has gone up and is now $17 for lunch and $23 for dinner. However, this seems to be the going rate for most buffets now and the large selection of fresh sushi alone is worth that if you're hungry. Only one third of the foods had labels so you didn't know what you were eating unless you asked someone which is especially unhelpful for the sushi. I hope management can add labels for all the foods soon. That's an easy thing to fix. There was no hibachi which was a little disappointing. There were not a lot of dessert options beyond fruit. The cheesecake was not traditional but half bread half cheese so not true traditional cheesecake and bland with no fruit topping as is typical with cheesecake. The chocolate cake had no label and turned out to be kinda a coffee flavor. The Asian plumbs had a good different flavor. If you're in the USF North Tampa area, craving Chinese, Sushi, or Seafood, and are very hungry, definitely check out Tampa China Buffet! This was my boyfriend's and my first time trying this buffet after seeing advertisements and wanting to check it out. We went for lunch, and unfortunately, the food was very mediocre and mostly cold. The only items that stood out to me were the krab rangoon, miso soup, and the deep-fried sushi roll. Overall, though, it honestly tasted like the food had been sitting out for quite some time. Went here yesterday. Drove 30 miles and have to say I am not sure I would do it again. The quality is just alright: the "seafood boil" crawfish was mushy and soft, but the cold crawfish on ice was of much better quality. If you are visiting Busch Gardens and want to get super full to capacity, Tampa China Buffet is the place to gorge yourself on the best array of Sushi, mixed cold seafood salads, seaweed salad, and all manner of hot and cold foods, you will be full and tired before you can eat your way through the various stations of high quality offerings. I suggest that you walk the entire food serving area before you start filling your plate. Planning is required or you will run out of capacity before your eyes run out of desire for more. TCB is worth a drive, even from Orlando or Clearwater Beach or Saint Petersburg. You will not find a better example of Chinese Buffet style cusine in Florida or perhaps even in Shanghai. Talk about not judging a book by its cover. It's off of Fowler and the dingy exterior is a front. Inside they are renovated with lots of tile and brightness. Lots of variety for anyone in your group, fresh seafood, sushi, all the way to chicken nuggets for kids. The place is cute and looks nice. We were greeted well at the entrance and taken to our table, but the service quickly went downhill. Our waiter was rushed and rude--no greeting, just asked for our drink order. When clearing plates and dropping off the check, the only thing said was "Sign please." The restaurant was very overcrowded, with people constantly rushing around and bumping into us, which made the experience uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Most of it tasted like it had been sitting out too long. Even the pre-packaged ice cream didn't taste right. The sweet tea was especially bad and had an unpleasant aftertaste. Some of the worst items were the fried rice, ribs, and the white noodles with egg and vegetables. The fried chicken, butterfly fried shrimp, and bourbon chicken were just okay. The salt and pepper chicken was very oily, and the teriyaki chicken was fine until I got a really nasty piece that ruined it for me. They charge an extra $10 if you leave an unreasonable amount of food on your plate, which is understandable, but it still added to the overall frustration. It was just me and my fiancé, about $20 per person. With iced tea and a Corona, the total came to around $51. We left a $3 tip due to the poor service. Eight years ago some friends took me here and I did not like this place. It mostly looked like from the pictures people took years ago. It was gross and dark and gloomy and it just felt sad.
