The worst server of all time! The five of us went to this place for a night out. The server just simply was not skilled or trained enough. My wife and son ordered sushi and he brought just one small cup for the soy sauce. When my wife asked for a 2nd cup he rolled his eyes back. He kept going back and forth bringing in one dish at a time with a 5 minute gap. We waited 30 minutes before all of us got our meals. Then I asked for water for everyone , he never returned....30 minutes later we had to ask another server to serve us water. Then collecting the dishes, he allowed our table to accumulate with dishes, he placed a serving tray and asked to place the dishes on it. We told him that it's his job to do that. Another 20 minutes later he gave us the bill. Twenty minutes after that he came back for our signature and we left a mere 10% tip. A group of people sat next to us and this waiter made them wait 20 minutes and asked them if they wanted appetizers. They were like, ah...can you give us the menu first? We warned them about this server. Now the food was excellent. Hope this dude who looks Asian and wears glasses gets training. Otherwise go somewhere else or ask for a different server. read more

We have always had good experiences here- the food is great to order several things and try. We are vegetarian and the staff have always been helpful at making sure we get things that fit into our diet and help offer suggestions for modifications. The side dishes rotate but are always yummy. We usually do takeout these days but dining in was always nice as well- we were surprised by the owner coming out from behind the sushi bar to play some saxophone to end dinner ( He played 'My heart will go on' be Celine Dion, yes that is a memorable dinner experience) My recommendations are the Kimbap, Bibimbap, and the soups are great as well! read more

One night in Toledo, I came to Koreana to have a great meal. I read some amazing reviews on Koreana both on yelp and reddit, and decided I needed to try it. This place did not disappoint! Coming in, though i was a little worried. It is located in this strip mall, hidden from the road. Entering it, the place is very dark. I was wondering if maybe I was making a mistake coming here. It was not. It was great! The service was excellent. The server was very attentive. She routinely came by to see how we were and if we were enjoying our meal. My family all did! Our appetizer was the pork belly sampler. My brother and I both love pork belly, and this was a rather delicious version! My mom just had a bowl of miso soup, she loves that type of soup and just wanted to have that. She said it was so flavorful. My brother had the chicken katsu, which he raved about. I had a piece and can tell you it was excellent. Crunch on outside, tender on the inside, perfect! I had the spicy pork bulgogi. I have eaten bulgogi before but only beef, so i wanted to try it out but with this twist. I absolutely loved it! Spicy, tasty, great flavor, it had it all! This is hands-down, the most underrated Asian food in Toledo. I turned 40 again today... This is the second time I have had my 40th birthday at Koreana and both times everything was spectacular. The service is phenomenal, the menu is enormous, and the execution wonderful. It's a really beautiful place. Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you, this is a great date night or celebratory spot. I get sushi every time I'm here and for a Korean restaurant it definitely does not disappoint . We had multiple entrées and multiple sides being passed around the table. There was not one disappointing bite to be had. In the age of Covid finding consistently good food is difficult. When I go to a restaurant I want a couple of basic things: good food and good service. I struck out at this joint. I was greeted by a waiter and sat at a table. I asked for barley tea, they didn't have any (strike one). I ordered bibimbap. I walked to the bathroom and my shoes kept sticking to the floor (foul ball, strike two). I was left to sit for fifteen minutes with a glass of water (strike three). I finally had to get up and ask if everything was okay; I was assured my food was about to come out (foul ball). Why wasn't I served banchan while I waited (strike four). Finally I was served everything at once. Food was okay. Suddenly the waiter walks over and throws the bill on my table (strike five) -- wait! He was ticked I had the nerve to complain? I know Korean food a bit. I wouldn't go back to this joint with its surly waiters and sticky floors and okay food. I'd find another Korean restaurant to go to. Oh, and wait, it's three strikes and you're out; I was up to strike five. read more

A quality Korean restaurant in Toledo! How cool. I went here on the recommendation of someone who has studied in Korea, so I felt pretty confident it would be good. It was! I ordered the beef bibimbap. When you get this (maybe any entree) it also comes with 4 side dishes (called Banchan). I don't know if you get to request certain dishes, or not. I got kimchi (great!), broccoli (yay!), something I have no idea what it was but good, and then maybe olives but I didn't try that. The bibimbap was excellent as the main dish. Also it came with a side of soup! I also got friend dumplings as an appetizer. The sauce container spilled open, soaking the dumplings, so that was a bummer (takeout order probs) but they were super good. The takeout time for an early dinner was only 35 min, so FYI. read more

Great food and service! Ambiance was moody. I liked it! Peaceful and I could hear my conversation. We did family style with 4 ppl. We got shrimp tempura, calamari, and pork belly for apps. Them tempura and calamari were crispy! The pork belly I pictured to be thick but it was like cut up thin bacon. Came with lettuce so you could eat it like a wrap. It had sauce on it that was good. Mild spice. We also split spicy seafood dish and kalbi. Both were delicious and would recommend. Seafood dish had mussels, scallop, shrimp and veggies. Spice level was mild. Perfect for ppl that can't handle that much heat. Kalbi was tender. It came with banchan. Wish there were more banchan. There was about 5 and the potato one was my fav. Some of the food was good. The Korean version of sushi was refreshing. the bulgogi was sweet, without enough of the garlic or onion flavor. Noodles were good. Service was good. The side dish that comes with the meal - pathetic broccoli, tofu, bean, kimchi. Very small quantities stranded on a large dish. There are 10 ways you could have presented this better. The really large dish just highlighted the fact that the food was pathetic and a small volume. But overall it just felt like someone gave up on this restaurant a awhile ago. The menus were sticky and dirty. In the bathroom there were only 2 stalls and one had a broken door. The floors were also sticky and my shoes kept making a noise when I would lift them up. Not open for dining until Tuesday. Ordered 3 crab kimbap and added kimchi to the rolls and a tteokbokki appetizer. Total $35.80. I noticed I was charged $1 for an extra side of kimchi to the rolls, probably a good idea to let the patron know there's additional cost to add it when I ordered it, it's just good practice. Hayley made sure to clean off the counter surface by her as well as the doors when I left, that's good practice for sure. The rolls looks good and packed at least. The tteokbokki seems a bit small for $9, even if it's an appetizer portion. Hayley advised it was enough for a meal, not in agreement. I would have ordered a second order since my hubby and I both love this dish, then again it would be a small amount for $18 worth. Their tteokbokki sauce was a bit sweet, not bad, not sure it's worth the amount for what little you get in the serving and definitely not enough to share. The crab rolls with kimchi were good. There are days that I just crave bibimbap because of this restaurant. Everything is so fresh. There are still a couple decorations from the last restaurant which is obscure, but that adds to the uniqueness of this place. The best is when you go on a night where it is slow, and Mr kim, the owner, serenades you on his saxophone. No matter the case you need to go and try this place out. Toledo is not known for a large quantity of Korean restaurants, so when I went to dinner here, I was not sure what to expect. It's actually really nice. The inside is well appointed and decorated with lots of natural wood tones and cultural objects that create a nice atmosphere without being too kitschy. The bar area is very lovely as well. The food is fresh and well prepared. I really enjoyed the tteokbokki, which are like a really thick rice noodle on a nice red sauce that brings great sweetness and flavor to the dish. The texture was great. There was bite without being overly chewy or gummy. I also ordered the chap chae, which is a stir fried glass noodle with meat and veggies. So good. I will definitely be back for more! The service left a little to be desired. Our waitress was not super attentive and we had to wait a decent amount of time for things like salt shakers and forks, or even the bill. Overall, I definitely recommend this establishment. Had not been here in a long time. We went last weekend and my udon was so bad they took it off the bill. Just completely flavorless with weird floaties in the broth. My husband didn't love his dish either. The sushi was skimpy and did not hold up to other places for a comparable price. I came here cause I as really craving sushi and ramen. I was here around 6:30pm on a Saturday evening. For the customer size that they have, I think they are grossly understaffed. I waited for about 15-30 mins to get seated and waited another 15-30mins to get my food. My waiter was really nice so I honestly can't be mad. I ordered the seafood jjambong noodles and crazy california sushi roll. To be honest the food was okay; a 3.5/5 for me.. My wife and I were quite happy with our experience here. We visited on a Saturday night around 8:30 PM. It turned out to be good timing as it was still a little busy but it was not difficult to find a table. The location on Airport Hwy just of I-475 was convenient. It was in a small strip plaza which made parking very easy. We were greeted and seated relatively quickly and our sever attended to us right away. We found the service to be quite good in general. The menu was essentially sushi and Korean specialties, as advertised. Favorites such as Bibimbap and Bulgogi were featured among others. My wife chose an avocado salad and a bulgogi kimbop for her dinner. Both were good. The salad featured a generous portion of avocado. The kimbop was essentially a slightly different take on a roll as it was bulgogi meat and vegetables wrapped in rice with a seaweed exterior. I had a California roll to start which was nicely done. For my main, I had the stir-fried calamari which was outstanding. Infused with a spicy chili sauce, it had a delightful zing that was the highlight of my meal. The bill including drinks, tax and tip was $42. At $21 apiece all in, I was very happy considering the quality of the experience. We will take the chance to come back when we can. read more

This restaurant is classy from the entrance on in. I suspect the owner is a bit of a collector as there are several interesting and sophisticated pieces of decor. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. We got a Philadelphia roll. It was a nice, bite-sized roll, not too big, like sushi rolls usually are for me. We also shared beef bulgogi with optional lettuce wraps. It was all very flavorful. The beef had little glaze bits that added a bit of yum. We got a nice scoop of rice. The large lettuce leaves were crisp and fresh. Hubby liked all the sides and said the kimchi and the fish cakes were particularly good. Now all we need is a nap! read more

My tuna roll was cheap ($5), but it sure didn't have much tuna. My dolsot bibimbap wasn't great. Stone bowl cold, not much meat, red sauce was watered down. I've been to Koreana a handful of times now and each time the food does not disappoint! They have a good variety of choices with a Korean/Japanese/Sushi combination -- they do it all well! The atmosphere and decor is elegant, warm, inviting, and a tad rustic. It's a great date/double date restaurant and they also have larger tables for families and large group too! Service: the past few times I've came, they seem to be short one to two workers. The ones there are hustling and sometime seems frazzled coming to the front to see a line of people. However, they are super polite and honest with the potential wait time too. Overall, the service I've had has been stupendous though I think having an extra hand might smooth things out? Food: everything I've had has been scrumptious! There's a pristine level of detail with the flavors and always a freshness to their food. Woah...what happened here?? Somewhere along the line Koreana has gone to new owners. We used to go regularly, but then got really busy and were unable to visit one of our favorite restaurants in a few months...until today. To begin with, the sashimi dinner we ordered was still frozen and the slices were anywhere from 1/4" thick to nearly an inch thick. We separated the fish to try to allow it to thaw before eating it, but it was forming little puddles underneath the slices. After only eating two pieces from the whole plate, we sent it back. The sauces were different. Were I used to find the Tteobokki addictive because of the delicious sauce, it was just mediocre this time. Also, the sauce served with the Beef Bolgogi lettuce wraps was not as good as normal. Seems to me that when a sushi chef is really skilled, you can tell it in something as simple as how the roll is rolled and how it is cut. The presentation is the cherry on top. We've had a lot of sushi and a lot of it has been at Koreana, with the former chef/owner behind the counter making it. The rolls we had from the new chef were sloppy in every way, not rolled well, not cut well, overly smothered in sauce and not artfully presented. Also, and very strangely, the wasabi was tasteless. I didn't realize that was even possible. We're shocked and disappointed. We won't be back, which is sad. I hope the former owner is well and enjoying whatever new adventure he is doing now. read more

I was only in town for about a week, and I ate here 3 times! Their food is so delicious, and they have a wonderful sake selection. Great bi bim bop!! I like to get the bulgogi bi bim bop. Bulgogi in general is just very good here. My kids love it. ..if you don't like spicy, try the bulgogi bi bim bop with teriyaki sauce. We were just passing through this area on a road trip out East, and came across this gem of a restaurant. The Korean dishes were authentic, and came out fast. Everything tasted as Korean foods should taste like. Oh the other delightful thing was that the sushi chef is also a saxophonist. In between preparing sushi, he would entertain the guests. My husband and I LOVE eating here! We dont go too often as it's a bit out of our way but we definitely crave it often! The atmosphere is really nice and quiet with subtle music in the background. The staff are nice and have even recognized us at this point. My husband is a huuuge fan of the kimchi bibimbap and gets it every time. He says it's the best in the area. The food is so good! We love their soups and been bulgogi bibimbap. Their sushi is also very good, but there is regularly something left out of your roll (even if it's straight off of the menu, on their specials board, or you specifically added something to a roll). Try their royal court ttekbokki and their plum wine or ginger tea! There are plenty of beautifully carved wood tables, music that isn't overwhelming, and the servers are wonderful and helpful. read more
